State broadcaster’s record on disinformation is a mockery
The BBC has published a new short ‘ad’ promoting itself as the discoverer and arbiter of truth – and irony meters all around the country shattered simultaneously:
Just off the top of Skwawkbox’s proverbial head, the BBC has:
- covered for the Tory government’s failure to achieve its covid testing promises during the pandemic and kept repeating the Tories’ claims about covid deaths among NHS workers even after they were shown to be false
- replaced footage of a dishevelled Boris Johnson at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday with footage of an earlier wreath-placing
- tried to help Johnson keep his job as Foreign Secretary after he was caught lying about the Novichok attack
- removed a header image showing Jewish anti-Zionist groups at a massive London anti-genocide protest
- published claims in 2018 that chemical weapons watchdog the OPCW had confirmed that the Syrian government had attacked the town of Douma with chlorine gas – and even after Skwawkbox’s revelation of the disinformation forced it to amend its story, still misled, in stark contrast to the honest reporting of other nations’ media. The broadcaster then produced a podcast trying to whitewash the involvement of a British intelligence asset in the false claims around the supposed attack
- reversed the order of footage from the miners strike to make it appear that miners had attacked police first
- edited out the crowd’s boos at Johnson during the late Queen’s jubilee event
- smeared independent then-MP Claudia Webbe with a report that she had threatened to throw acid on a love rival despite a judge’s finding that no such threat was ever made – then botched the ‘correction’
- stoked up abuse toward Diane Abbott, Britain’s first Black woman MP, on its Question Time programme and rubbished audience complaints
- had to admit it had lied for over sixty years about its policy of keeping left-wingers out of BBC jobs
- claimed just before the 2019 general election that a Labour protester had punched a Tory aide – and allowed its political editor to break electoral broadcasting law
- claimed a Russian missile had struck a busy Ukrainian market then stayed silent when evidence proved it was a Ukrainian missile
- used the London Bridge terror attack to fold and allow then-Tory PM Boris Johnson to back out of a key promised general election interview after Corbyn had already done his
- was forced to admit it had made grossly-misleading edits in its ‘Labour antisemitism’ hatchet-job on then-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn
- ignored revelations that Johnson had lied about Tory NHS privatisation – and discussed Johnson putting jam on a scone instead
- edited out the election debate audience mocking and laughing at Johnson
- changed a headline to hide an appalling attack by Keir Starmer on immigrants working in the NHS
- broadcast footage of smiling and laughing people in Venezuela, then claimed it showed ‘desperate’ Venezuelans as the US tried to delegitimise the elected left-wing government
- u-turned on its own reporting about the rise of nazism in Ukraine to fit the government’s pro-Ukrainian narrative
- used footage of a military parade and claimed it showed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
and more, and more, and more – as well as frequently and uncritically repeating the Israeli government’s false claims about its mass murder of Palestinian civilians.
On top of all this, the presenter of the BBC’s Verify programme on disinformation, Marianna Spring, appeared in chains of emails between fake-left hack Paul Mason and British intelligence assets about ways to undermine left-wing or anti-war media:
Now the BBC is presenting itself as the investigator and arbiter of truth. Right.

BBC has – since approximately the time when the CIA had Alan Charles Rusbridger destroy the wikileaks computer terminal that Julian Paul Assange had entrusted them – become actively involved in suppressing truth, free-thought and discussion.
Not enough people realise this YET. The state funded broadcaster is a world-class practitioner of Propaganda.

why, is it better that Propaganda has 1-in-3 minutes as adverts to fund it? Propaganda is propaganda is propaganda.
If anything, corporates (the main propagandists) have less power in a publicly-funded media.

I remember the one about Claudia Webbe! Didnt it occur during “Any Questions” ? A Tory
MP made the allegation which was of course untrue .. I complained and they admitted
what was said was untrue – but then made a lame excuse .. .. something like “Well we couldn’t possibly have known it was going to happen .. so have no need to apologise ” !!!
I dont know what the BBC said about Ukraine – however I disagree it has become more Nazi. The main complaint from the populace was corruption .. which was rife which is why Zelenski was chosen as leader rather than existing ones. As soon as Ukraine broke away from the
Soviet Union (as was) the “Communists”** who ruled them used their pointy elbows to grab
State Assets. I came across an article in an Academic Journal which concerns this – which I will
try to track down .. I agree that some of the ex-Warsaw countries are extremely Right Wing (prime example – Hungary) while others are corrupt – and some both. Ukraine in their Maidan Demo were
opposing corruption which still persisted with future leaders.
It is not right wing to hold onto national identity – which colonial powers (like Russia and Israel) are attempting to destroy. Russia’s aim is to enforce the absorption of Ukraine into the Russian
Federation. Israel along with turning the country to rubble are also attempting to destroy Palestinian national identity (eg Museums, Universities) and attain some sort of “Greater Israel.
Some of the Western powers are going along with this – by refusing to recognise Palestine so Bravo
for Ireland in their peace keeping role.
** (I use inverted commas round “Communists” in that they were not of that political persuasion
in any real sense ..)
About Novichok – the point its that the OPCW Charter was signed by Russia but all the
Organisation were asked to do was verify that the poisoning agent was indeed “Novichok”.
However there was more than enough evidence to follow through the accusation it had been manufactured in Russia by demanding that the OPCW be allowed to continue their work and
investigate Russian Govt labs.
That is what the police would have done if the attack had been
by a Civilian and was the obvious next step. Yet Corbyn was sneered at and told he was “helping
Russia” when he asked if the lab results and samples had been sent to Russia. That
would be part of the normal process in a Criminal Prosecution – and is allowed for by the OPCW Charter as expressed in the Appendix on “Verification”.
This would have been similar to the investigations- (in China) into the origin of COVID . So why wasn’t it followed through – well Johnsons incompetence and laziness would seem the obvious
albeit mundane answer.
