Exclusive: smeared ex-Lab member Siddiqi ‘planning to stand vs Streeting’

Victim of repeated smears and even a discredited prosecution is planning a bid at the next Ilford North parliamentary election, say locals

Syed Siddiqi, the former Labour member repeatedly abused, harassed and smeared by right-wing Labour figures in Ilford in north London, is planning to stand against right-winger Wes Streeting in the next Ilford North parliamentary election, according to local sources.

Siddiqi has faced constant harassment by the party right, including a failed attempt to prosecute him that ended in all charges being dropped – reminiscent of the disgraced hatchet job against neighbouring left-wing Muslim MP Apsana Begum.

The party’s hounding of Siddiqi even went as low as suspending him for more than three years after he was the victim of a foul, late-night Islamophobic tirade by a local right-winger, despite the whole incident being recorded. His abuser was quickly reinstated so that he could stand for Labour in local elections.

Siddiqi was revealed to have been targeted by Streeting’s office and others, by the leaked party report into abuse by the party right:

Labour has a long and appalling record of Islamophobia and of protecting abusive right-wingers. Local council leader Jas Athwal was selected as the party’s candidate in Ilford South, after complaints of ‘serious sexual assault’ were dismissed by a committee of Labour national executive members – against the advice of the party’s barrister. He won the selection vote when six hundred postal votes ‘turned up’ late in proceedings, while supporters of his opponent, incumbent MP Sam Tarry, were denied entry to the selection meeting. Labour general secretary David Evans dismissed the evidence as ‘irrelevant to the result.

The party has reason to fear the challenge. Last year, Lutfur Rahman ousted Labour to win the executive mayor’s position in nearby Tower Hamlets last year and voters there kicked out Labour at the last local elections in a landslide for Rahman’s new Aspire party. In neighbouring East End borough Newham, Newham Independents leader Mehmood Mirza hammered an imposed Labour candidate in May – and his colleague Sophia Naqvi then trounced Labour in November’s by-election in Newham Plaistow North.

With discontent spreading in the area and Black councillor Shanell Johnson quitting Labour in Redbridge, which covers both Ilford seats, in disgust at the local and national party’s conduct, few would be surprised to see similar developments threatening Labour’s complacency there too; particularly with an incumbent MP as dislikeable as Streeting, Starmer’s pro-privatisation health spokesman who has accepted donations from private health interests and who triggered protests outside his office – and a boycott by students – for his part in Starmer’s support for Israeli war crimes.

In 2018, Streeting also launched a ‘disgraceful’ and ‘disgusting’ tirade in the face of Diane Abbott, Britain’s first Black woman MP, leaving Abbott ‘shell-shocked’. If he stands, Syed Siddiqi can expect considerable support from outraged former Labour supporters around the country who would be delighted to see Streeting ejected.

  1. Streeting is one nasty little slime bag Tory through and through I hope he loses his seat to Syed

  2. I would love to see Syed Siddiqi take this seat from Wes Streeting, a loud mouthed uncouth bully and smear merchant ,a right winger who helped Boris Johnson into Downing Street by jumping on hate Corbyn bandwagon and participating in the antisemitism scam, a Friend of Isreal thinks its OK for Israel to “defend itself” by withholding water food and fuel from the innocent people of Gaza and who won’t call for a ceasefire even though the Palestinian death toll now stands at over 20,000.W
Wes is also ready to privatise the NHS and has I understand already been in touch with the Private health sector in the USA. He is very definitelty a nasty piece of work so he fits in well with Starmers Labour.
If Syed ousts him ( as is extremely likely as Wes has managed to make himself almost universally detested) Wes will be well looked after by the Israeli/ Zionist lobby with well paid directorships/ consultancies on various Israeli/ Zionist owned/ controlled enterprises and of course his seat in the House of Lords will be there waiting for him so he can sit alongside the likes of John Mann Ian Austin Iain McNicholl and an assortment of other freeloaders “elevated to the peerage” as a reward for sabotaging the 2017 and 2019 General Election.

  3. Good. Stand as a Jeremy Corbyn Supporting Independent as 620 of us (not standing against the very few Socialist Labour MPs) should do too.
Time (in possibly May 2024) to make history. Happy New Year Comrades!

  4. Good. And he should stand as a Jeremy Corbyn Supporting Independent.
As 620 of us should do (but not standing against the few Leftie Lab MPs).
Happy New Year comrades, is likely to be a General Election in May 2024 (?).
    Time to make history.

      1. SteveH, Lost deposits, gained resolve. Increased disrespect for the rigged FPTP system is a necessary step for its eventual replacement.

Every lost deposit is hundreds of hearts and neurons re-energised with democratic zeal (it’s not 1997, you know). Gaza and covid are already disclosing a massive ‘disconnect’ between huge parts of the political class and the people they supposedly serve. It’s not 1997 you know.

I sense a real change in the public’s attitude to Labour. I think Keir Starmer and the rest of them particularly Lammy have shown exactly who they are in relation to the ongoing slaughterin Gaza and the West Bank and people don’t like what they see. Their mantra that Israel has the right to defend itself even if that involves the massacre of innocent civilians including children is unbelieveable in a civilised society and horrifies and repels decent people.
If Muslim voters ( most of whom normally vote Labour) mobilise as they have done in the USA with the Abandon Biden campaign and if right thinking non Muslim voters join them and vote for Independents or Greens or don’t vote at all at the next election this will scupper Labours chances.. Also Labour needs Scottish seats for a parliamentary majority and there is absolutely no chance of Labour getting that given their pro Zionist and Friends of Israel stance and their refusal to call for a ceasefire even though the Palestinian death toll stands at approx 21,000.
Additionally the outpouring of bile and hate for Palestinians from Zionists inside and outside parliament and the accusations of antisemitism coming thick and fast h against those of us who deplore the massacres being carried out by the Israelis is exposing the whole antisemitism scam which Jeremy Corbyn and others were subjected to. I think that for many people the penny is beginning to drop and they are starting to realise they were conned big time.
So Steve H I think you are wrong about lost deposits. However I think yours represents the prevailing attitude in Starmers Labour and I really think ( and truly hope) they pay the price for their unqualified support of Zionism and the resultant genocide at the next election

    1. Bazza. Every vote taken away from the Genocide Supporters of Labour is a result.

      1. Oh dear, if only ‘the left’ could offer the electorate a credible alternative.😞

“Every vote taken away from the Genocide Supporters of Labour is a result” for the Conservative Party.

  5. By standing against the gay WS, Syed will be attacked, accused of some sort of prejudice. I can’t make my mind up which one.

He’ll do an Angela Eagle and claim homophobia. Both of them are too arrogant and self obsessed to realise that their sexuality is a matter of total indifference to most people- its their failure to call for a ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank, their contempt for the poor and vulnerable, their duplicity, their embrace of big business and their willingness to sell the NHS to the highest bidder that makes the loss of their seats on the Westminister gravy train a distinct possibility.

  6. Wish I was in Ilford North. I would vote for you in a heartbeat. Mashallah khoya.

  7. Meanwhile……

….don’t you just love The Official Narrative?

“The term ‘voluntary emigration’ is likely to be heard quite a lot in the coming weeks and months, and it is one of the most cynical, dishonest terms one can imagine. There is, of course, nothing voluntary about people leaving Gaza. Israel has made the place unlivable, and that was before the current bombardment.

“Now, they are essentially being forced to leave under the threat of imminent death. The people of Gaza did not suddenly lose their attachment to Palestine. They will die if they stay, as will their children. If you cut off water, electricity, food, and medical care, destroy all the shelter, and then ask a person, ‘Would you still like to stay?’ their decision to leave is obviously not voluntary.”

    – Mitchell Plitnick

And, just as it is with the Tory wing of the Uni-party, support for Genocide; war; mass murder; privatisation and the destruction of the Commons for the private gain of fellow sociopaths; owning nothing and being forced to enjoy it; Kangaroo ‘justice’; ever increasing debt based on economic illiteracy; and umpteen other unworkable idiocies is hard wired into what passes for an irredeemable and totally corrupt Labour Party.

Who but a useless eater would actively align themselves with those pushing such policies and constantly advertise it?

Those who don’t have friends, only opportunities.
