SKWAWKBOX (SW)
'In times of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act'
George Orwell
I've 'rebranded' (though I hate that term) this blog to 'The SKWAWKBOX', to make the title more relevant to what this blog aims to do. I know the correct spelling of 'squawk', but the title spelling is a play on my my name).
I'm socialist, politically-motivated, run a business, love the power of social media to spread information, love the information I find out there and the people I get to know, but there are many things that need to be communicated that won't fit into 140 characters. Passionate about people and about social justice.
I'm a member of the Labour and Co-operative parties, and of Unite the Union - I don't work in a unionised job (I run the business), but everyone should belong to a union and it's important to put your money (and time and effort) where your mouth is.
I love my city and get very, very worked up about the injustices that are inflicted on the vulnerable. I'm also VERY passionate about good information - governments and corporations get away with injustices in large part by misinformation/misdirection - and the best antidote is good information. If Orwell's quote above is correct, as I believe it is, then I definitely want to be a revolutionary. An informed people is hard to exploit!
This blog is my humble contribution to an Orwellian Revolution.
