Fire-and-rehire Labour advertises for trainee organisers – after sacking existing organiser team

David Evans email calls for applications to replace staff sacked as part of anti-Corbyn scramble

David Evans

The Labour party has already set itself against working people and the unions that represent them by indulging in ‘fire and rehire’ at a local government level – and with Keir Starmer refusing to sign a letter demanding an end to the unscrupulous and exploitative employment practice, while the party laid off some ninety staff claiming it could not afford to keep them, to the justified fury of their unions.

But now Starmer’s party has gone headlong into the same foul practice – recruiting a new team of organisers after Starmer and his general secretary sidekick David Evans sacked the entire organiser team last year. An email sent out by Evans confirms the manoeuvre:

Evans’s email repeats the fantasy that last week’s local elections were not a disaster for Starmer and his party

Sadly there is unlikely to be a shortage of right-wing drones ready to ‘scab’ for the party in the hope of a leg-up into political careerism, but given the party’s record of its treatment of staff under the right-wing regime, they should exercise extreme caution.

    1. It would be difficult to argue that the previous community organisers were very good at their jobs, we lost 60 seats.

      1. Keef’s current lot have been an emphatic triumph, haven’t they?

All those gains they made t’other day? .That you haven’t even attempted to comment on? 😏

      2. Of course he didn’t. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear ………….. though he usually tries so hard.

      3. Two Cheeks
Temporary Embarrassment has clearly not been forgiven by Red Wall voters

      4. This is getting like Oceania.

For the past several years the [alleged] Caribbean’s answer to Mr Pastry has almost on a daily (some like Alan Howard might argue hourly) basis insisted the Party lost seats because of ‘Cobyn.’

Now, when it suits convenience, it turns out it was the fault of the workers.

That’s the problem with spending your entire existence running around this site like a demented Tonka toy thinking how clever you are to yourself by posting simplistic one liners every few minutes. You lose track and trip yourself/yourselves up.

        Wazzock.

      5. Dave – That is a rather silly argument. I thought that most people had acknowledged that the whole 19GE campaign was a bit of a car crash. It would also be difficult to argue that it was a success and given that Corbyn lost 20% of the membership during 2018/19 it would also be difficult to claim that these organisers were very successful in motivating and enthusing the membership.

      6. and given that Corbyn lost 20% of the membership during 2018/19

Corbyn didn’t lose any members whatsoever, so DO desist with your constant bullshit.

      7. Toffee – I appreciate that facts don’t count for anything in your delusional fantasy world but back in reality the facts are a matter of public record and are there for all to see.

      8. Hark the cretin harping on about facts and reality.

FACT: When Corbyn became leader the membership was circa 150k

FACT: When he left the membership was in excess of 430k

        FACT: A GAIN<of 280k+ members.

FACT: NOT a LOSS in ANY way, shape, nor form

FACT: You are an innumerate imbecile.

        The fucking nerve….

      9. Toffee – The official Labour Party figures of fully paid up members tell their own story
        July 2017 – 538,606
        Nov 2017 – 525,779
        Jun 2018 – 506,320
        Nov 2019 – 430,359

      10. I see you’re keeping up your average of posting a third of the comments – ie nine of the twenty-seven at the time of typing. And, as you so often DO – what with you constantly monitoring the site – you posted a ‘reply’ to the first poster yet AGAIN, and in a matter of just six minutes, and in the thread before this one posted a ‘reply’ to the first poster within four minutes.

And here he is posting a ‘reply’ to the first poster a couple of days ago:

His main purpose on this site is to constantly annoy posters on the one hand, and defend Starmer – ie defend a fascist – and denigrate Jeremy whenever the opportunity occurs on the other. Everyone knows he’s a right-wing full-time paid shill – and it’s inconceivable that Steve Walker doesn’t know that he is, and yet he doesn’t ban him from the site, Why on earth NOT!

      11. Allan – I’m facilitating you finding a purpose in life.

      12. They were working against the strikebreakers in Southside, Watson, Austin and the rest. Not to mention the Israeli Embassy and the United States government, and of course the Tory Establishment. My guess is that they weren’t rehired because they knew too much.
The real story here-the story of the Labour Party- is the immense amount of money that has been spent over the years without leaving anything in the way of a media presence to balance against the capitalist Press. And this is not an accident, successive leaders have lived in fear of being publicly associated with socialist thinking. Despite the handicaps they prefer to have to cosy up to Murdoch and his like. Anything rather than common people thinking for themselves and building change from the bottom up.

      13. We lost 60 seats because of people like you supporting the “constructive ambiguity” Please do yourself a favour and stop embarrassing yourself.
Where is the People´s Vote Steve H? The one we were going to have before a GE. What we have is a hard Brexit tanks to people like you.

      14. Maria – Don’t be ridiculous, I have frequently spoken out against Jeremy’s stupid stance of hiding behind constructive ambiguity for month after bloody month.

      15. SteveH, perhaps you didn’t support the “Constructive ambiguity” but you were arguing in favour of Labour ditching the 2017 manifesto commitment to enact Brexit in favour of a People’s Vote.
A commitment to a People’s Vote on the 2019 manifesto would have lost us more seats in areas that voted in favour of Brexit.
Hence, I am afraid I blame people like yourself for our 2019 General Election defeat. Tell me great mind what would have been better the Brexit that we have and a Tory government? or a Brexit that would have keep us in the Custom Union and Corbyn in N10?

      16. Stefan H You lot lost us them seats with your insane neo liberal ideology thats now mutated into a full on fascists party. And I don’t think your lots help in Ulster will be allowed again as they are as welcome as a bad dose of the trots. You very nearly caused a riot interfering in Ulster and I am assured that the SDLP canvassers knocking on doors were not even informed that neo liberal parasites from Dublin and England were “helping” .You lot lost them the seat and another one as well in a complete meltdown for the neo liberal SDLP when you have the choice between the socialist Sinn Fein or more of the same from the social democrat labour party in Ulster its got to be Sinn Fein and a time for real change….knights and Lords don’t go down well in Ireland in the nationalist community…….note gerry fit …Lord fitt he was banished in the Catholic areas.and nearly had his house burnt down.RIP…god bless him for trying.

      1. Allan – Is there an echo in your silo. As I said above, I’m facilitating you finding a purpose in life.

  1. ‘Gizza job! Go, on! Gizza job!’

    ‘I could do that!

    Go on, gizza job!’

      1. Surely, you should understand, by now, I’m taking the Mick out of, all things, Southside Labour. I wouldn’t touch any of those people with the proverbial.

        I’m not Yosser Hughes.

      2. George – Of course I appreciate that you were taking the piss, and so was I.

      3. SteveH 08/05/2022 at 5:25 pm :

You take the piss all the time. Are you saying we should take that as your default position, and, just, ignore everything you post?

It would make it easier on the rest of us.

      4. George – I don’t care much either way. You’re the one who is desperately trying to make something out of me taking the piss out of you taking the piss. It isn’t my fault that you fell for it hook line and sinker. Haven’t you got something better to do.

  2. When are real Labour People going to Boot Starmer this FAT BASTARD Evans and every other Treasonous Scum Sucking Right Wing Bottom Dweller back to where they belong on the other Side of the House of Commoners, Why are Left Wingers going to stand up be counted and set about these Bastards and while we are at it why don’t we close down the PIT OF THIEVES AND LIARS THE HOUSE OF LORDS and let’s see what the Disgusting Bunch of Greedy Bastards do without their £127,000 EACH a year OF YOUR TAX POUNDS for talking PISH it’s time for Hodge Mone Rowling Gloag McConnell Foulkes Watson Prescott Lippmann Sugar and the rest of The MANKY BASTARDS to be told They are Not and NEVER HAVE BEEN FIT FOR PURPOSE, And while we are at it JAIL BLAIR BROWN AND DARLING

    1. Oh dear, I do hope that you are feeling better now that you’ve got off your chest.

      1. Oh dear, I do hope they removed all the splinters 😏

  3. According to my letter it’s £28000pa plus £5000 car allowance. Says there are 21 posts which my dodgy maths suggests is nearly three quarters of a million pounds a year. Is Mr Chinn stumping up again.

      1. Toffee – Oh dear, you couldn’t think of anything either

      2. I wasn’t asked to.

However, how about suspending members/officers if they allowed NCVs of keef?

Or closing down any messages of support for Corbyn?

Or doing the job for ages WITHOUT being elected to do so?

      3. And did I mention suspending/expelling (Jewish) members for Palestinian support under the false flag of antisemitism ?

      4. Steve, I presume you’ve read and understood the gist of the article?
Your question has a sense of baiting about it but I’ll bite anyway.
I was merely hoping to make the increasingly obvious point that, the BBC has an agenda that runs counter to its stated aim of ‘providing impartial news coverage.’ That is to say that some individuals are targeted whilst others routinely have their backs covered.

      5. Martin – I’m sorry but I am at a loss to understand what your problem is, where is the issue in the temp contracts of an unsuccessful team of political appointees not having their contracts renewed when the leadership of the party changes. How do you expect the BBC to react to this non-issue.

    1. Reply to Martin Read
The BBc wouldn’t be interested Martin. Starmer is their golden boy and they cover up for him over and over again.

      1. Thank you, Smartboy.
It has been pointed out that irony does not ‘translate’ well or easily upon the page. I was hoping to be ironic but have, as warned, failed. Thank you, anyway.

  4. Fire and rehire of course, which the article is all about. Or did you miss that?

    1. Sabine – What fire and rehire would that be. The community organisers were employed on temporary contracts by Corbyn’s regime and following the woeful results of the 19GE their contracts weren’t renewed.

      1. Given this years local election results were not as good as 2018 under Corbyn it would be interesting to see how the demented Tonka toy is going describe these results.

      2. ‘woeful results’ engineered by Starmer and his band of usual suspects.

Evans’ fire + rehiring is intentional and every bit as wrong as when P+O, British Gas/Centrica and a the myriad of other amoral businesses do it.

      3. qwertboi – Don’t be daft. They were employed on temp contracts by Corbyn and their contracts weren’t renewed. Your whole argument is nonsense.

  5. “We are committed to ensuring our Trainee Organisers reflect the diversity of our party, our communities and our country.”
Obviously there’s a caveat to Evans statement…those on the left need not apply.

  6. the [alleged] Caribbean’s answer to Mr Pastry

Ladies & gentlemen…Mr Dave Hansell – winner of the intermet 👍😉

      1. Oh I’m feeling quite ok.

I haven’t been gnawing away at my furniture because once again keef has proved me right and you completely wrong. 👍😉

You said we should wait and see when the results were in.

        Well….They’re in….And they’re fucking abysmal….Aren’t they? 👍😉

      2. That’s the second time you’ve posted that.

Still doesn’t make keef look any better. Makes you look every bit the cowardly little twunt that you are though.

Admit you were wrong. Admit the results were not remotely near what you expected (and suggested we should expect) them to be.

Go on….You’ll feel better for it.

You might – JUST might even gain someone’s (Christ knows who) respect**
        .
        .

**For a few seconds, before you revert to type and shoehorn in a ‘but Corbyn…’ excuse

  7. Ha ha ha ha ha…..

2022 Percentage increase in councillors by party:

    Greens: 109%
    Lib Dems: 37%
    Labour: 3%

Didn’t the beer swilling curry eating law breaker do well?

    1. Bazz out of the 3% that we increased 1.84% is thanks to Welsh Labour; in England the increase in seats is a pitiful 0.61% and in Scotland 0.55%.
Taking into account that in Wales only 22 local authorities were having elections, a similar result in England (no all the seats were contested, so I have adjusted) would have resulted in gains of over 400 seats and in Scotland around 200 seats.
Thus, a good result would have been to gain at least 650 seats and not the 108 in total that Labour won.

  8. Two Cheeks
The lowest form of racism against Jews is to accuse Jews themselves of anti semitism
    Yair Lapid
    Israeli Foreign Minister
Can you get Temporary Embarrassment to refer himself and every other piece of Red Tory shite to be thrown out of the party

    1. George – Most people are complex individuals with a wide range of views, I find it tends to be the politically naive and the zealots that have one track minds.

    2. Anyone else think Steve H has multiple- personalities?

Yeah. And every one of them are dullards.

  9. But not the ones who use the most desperate and tenuous of excuses to blame Corbyn for every single example of smarmer’s incompetence, impotence and hypocrisy, in every post that isn’t outrightly dismissive of the person making them.

    1. Toffee – What is tenuous about pointing out that Corbyn’s organisers were not fired but were in fact temp workers whose temporary employment contracts had come to an end weren’t renewed. It was Corbyn’s team that decided, for whatever reason, not to employ them on permanent contracts,

  10. Final Tally of Thursday Local Elections. Number of Councilors

    Labour +22

    Conservative -338

    LibDem +192

    Greens +63

    Independent +27

    RA +10

    Labour is finished….RIP.

  11. baz 2001 They are badly informed in Wigan…it must be all of those pies even the mps becoming a classic pie eater “That result of twenty two seats is staggering much like Starmer and Rayners beerfest in Durham were they just happened to not be canvassing….his it any wonder though that with the few demoralised activist leftovers knocking on doors dont get the anti tory vote out especially if they think that a few swift pints or worse is a professional way to ask for help with staggering Starmer” and the labour party. Twenty two?dougs dog could do better …!

    1. What Two Cheeks can’t answer is WTF do Red Tories do now
But we all forget is its job done again, Labour don’t have a snowballs chance in next GE
That’s what kleptocracy pay the big bucks for, make it look good son, before you hit the deck
Anyone for a clapped out, shot full of shit, democracy

      1. Doug, perfect summation. Spot on, but we knew what the game plan was didn’t we?

    2. Joseph, even the Independents got more of an increase in their seats.

By any stretch of the imagination this result is truly dreadful.
