Number of confirmed COVID-hit schools passes 2,000

The latest map of confirmed school outbreaks

The number of schools confirmed to be hit by coronavirus outbreaks is now 2,023*. The National Association of Head Teachers continues to estimate that more than four out of five schools are affected.

Many of the schools have seen multiple and serial infections and transmission within schools and from schools into the community are both now confirmed. Many more schools are being told to keep quiet about outbreaks and only isolate small groups or individuals.

Teachers are also now in intensive care after contracting the virus in school.

  1. “The number of schools confirmed to be hit by coronavirus outbreaks is now 2,023*. The National Association of Head Teachers continues to estimate that more than four out of five schools are affected.”

Wiki says the number of UK schools is 32,700.
“Four out of five” would be 26,160.

Both numbers can’t be correct unless I missed something crucial in Skwawky’s text.
Can the NAHT be guilty of massive exaggeration or hyperbole on such an important matter?
Can 24,137 schools really be meekly going along with government orders to keep quiet about sick children?
Can I really be that senile?

    1. Oh, well spotted.
Keep practicing and perhaps one day you’ll be able to think of your own quips without me having to lay the groundwork for you.

  2. I never really got on all that well with my head teacher, but in this case I will stand with them and say thankyou for putting the pupils and the country first..We can certainly never believe anything coming from the public schoolboys government for the few not the many.

  3. I take affected schools to mean students or staff self isolating with symptoms, attempting to get tested or awaiting test results. Whereas confirmed Covid means they’ve had a positive test result.

  4. World Health Organisation sets a 5% ceiling for positive tests before you need to do anything
    Where are we currently
