Israel is deliberately engineering an unsurvivable environment in Gaza as part of its genocidal intention to empty the enclave and steal it. The first winter storm has inflicted horrifying floods that have inundated and swept away the tents and shelters of thousands of refugees and left them without shelter. At least 70,000 tents were destroyed – and the occupation is blocking tens of thousands of new tents from crossing the border with Egypt – a fact ignored by UK media.
Deliberate devastation
Footage posted by local journalists shows the severity of the storm and the devastating extent and effects of the floods, which caused several damaged buildings to collapse on their occupants as well:
The horror and distress of the people is heartbreaking:
Commentator Assal Rad recognised Israel’s deliberate creation of an unsurvivable environment:
And a Gaza Civil Defence spokesman urged the world not to be complicit in Israel’s ‘engineered death’ in Gaza:
The rains continued through the night, causing rivers of waste and detritus:
As Indian news service Maktoob has noted, human rights groups report that Israel is blocking tents – and construction materials and equipment – from Gaza, despite months of requests to allow them entry and warnings that refusal would cause exactly what is now happening, with a huge cost in lives and health.
Many UK ‘mainstream’ media are ignoring the floods entirely. The BBC has covered the floods – but is ignoring Israel’s blockade of tents. Instead, it reports that the shortage of tents, tarpaulins and plastic sheeting are “due to UN budget cuts”.
Israel is a terror state; Zionism is racism. The UK media and political classes continue to enable its horrors.
