Facebook marks SKWAWKBOX post on Belgian healthworker protest ‘false info’ – even though BBC, Sky, whole ‘MSM’ then ran it too – but withdraws when challenged

Footage of health workers turning backs on Belgian PM is entirely authentic. SKWAWKBOX readers react with anger to censorship

SKWAWKBOX readers have reacted with anger at the marking by Facebook of an entirely authentic video as ‘false information’.

The footage of Belgian health workers turning their backs on the country’s prime minister in protest at her government’s handling of its pandemic response was completely true and accurate – and while the SKWAWKBOX was the first UK outlet to publish it, almost the entire UK ‘mainstream’ media subsequently did the same:

One SKWAWKBOX reader wrote:

I clicked on the ‘see why’ button, but all it gave was the name of some person who had checked it. I was so angry and I just wanted to let you know.

Within minutes of this blatantly false assessment being challenged, it vanished – but it had been in place for an undetermined period before readers drew the SKWAWKBOX’s attention it. According to Facebook’s page on its ‘fact-checking’, a ‘false information’ mark on a post severely restricts its circulation, as well as discouraging those who do see it from reading or viewing.

So why were Facebook’s ‘independent’ UK fact-checking agents marking a genuine video as ‘false information’ in an article that compared Boris Johnson’s appalling performance on the coronavirus crisis with that of a government whose health workers shunned it?

SKWAWKBOX is regulated by IMPRESS, the UK’s only independent, Leveson-compliant regulator. It also has a perfect rating from news-reliability assessor Newsguard.

  1. The odd thing is, the cruelty and wickedness of the same old same old, is utterly unnecessary and illogical. 🌹🌹🌹

      1. All very strange to me. Seems to make no sense.

  2. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Who is going to protect us from highly disreputable fact checkers like a hardly-regulated social media network that sells itself to the highest bidder?

      1. Is est qui debet praesidio custodibus.🌹🌹🌹

  3. What actually happened was that your clip was being falsely described on FB. When I encountered the “fake news” message, it referred to an FB posting which attributed the action as being taken against persons with Spanish names. i.e. Somebody had taken your clip and put it up as a demonstration against ministers in a Spanish-speaking country. That was what was (correctly) described as fake news.

  4. The only factcheker is left to yourself unfortunately,Common sense and a dose of scepticism being the only tools left in this engineered western civilization. “Faith” appears to be the only avenue left, but that also is exploited to the maximum.

  5. My Facebook Account was disabled (permanently) about a year ago, when I posted information from ‘Russia Today’ website ref. US military complex. There was no way of challenging nor asking why….just permanently disabled to this day. I have tried to reopen account, but denied. Still, be thankful for small mercies as there are already too many ways that I have found to waste my time.

    1. Steve, the establishment are shit scared of the truth getting out. They want total control of the narrative. We don’t live in a democracy.

  6. Ridiculous that you got a false information label put on you, and I am glad it did not stay that way for long. One of the things I have noted about Skwawkbox as a long time follower of the site is that when required corrections are ungrudgingly produced – and always given proper prominence.

  7. Adrian Hayday of the Francis Crick Institute was just on BBC News.
I wish I’d seen the whole piece because he doesn’t seem to be the kind of scientist to throw around the term “this could be a came-changer.”
Immunotherapy to boost T cells is all I heard, really.
He did mention that their findings are being made freely available and that they’re the result of cooperation between many people from outside Francis Crick.
Just the fact of the collaboration of some of the smartest people on the planet to find an answer to coronavirus kills RH’s argument stone dead – even if they hadn’t just announced what might quickly result in an effective treatment for those most seriously affected – which can get the world back to normal far sooner than anything else if it works.

    1. “GAME” changer. Damn this new layout. The text in the reply box is half the size it is on the rest of the page. What the FUCK is that about?
An ageist conspiracy, that’s what it is – THE SKWAWKBOX has joined the Tories in trying to silence our protests as they spread coronavirus among us poor coffin-dodging non-productives to save on our pensions.
How much is BloJob paying you, Steve? 🙂

GUESS I’LL JUST HAVE TO WRITE IN ALL CAPS FROM NOW ON.

    2. Immunotherapy utilities the body’s immune system by identifying the mutant cells, for example, in certain types of cancers such as types of lung cancer and the immune system attacks them in a general way that it attacks invading viruses.

  8. … Facebook…

    There’s ya problem.

A sea of attention whores, idiot attention whores and crap businesses.

I’d rather lurk on the daily fail comments section (not likely btw)

    VK seems the smarter choice.
