SKWAWKBOX readers have reacted with anger at the marking by Facebook of an entirely authentic video as ‘false information’.
The footage of Belgian health workers turning their backs on the country’s prime minister in protest at her government’s handling of its pandemic response was completely true and accurate – and while the SKWAWKBOX was the first UK outlet to publish it, almost the entire UK ‘mainstream’ media subsequently did the same:

I clicked on the ‘see why’ button, but all it gave was the name of some person who had checked it. I was so angry and I just wanted to let you know.
Within minutes of this blatantly false assessment being challenged, it vanished – but it had been in place for an undetermined period before readers drew the SKWAWKBOX’s attention it. According to Facebook’s page on its ‘fact-checking’, a ‘false information’ mark on a post severely restricts its circulation, as well as discouraging those who do see it from reading or viewing.
So why were Facebook’s ‘independent’ UK fact-checking agents marking a genuine video as ‘false information’ in an article that compared Boris Johnson’s appalling performance on the coronavirus crisis with that of a government whose health workers shunned it?

What actually happened was that your clip was being falsely described on FB. When I encountered the “fake news” message, it referred to an FB posting which attributed the action as being taken against persons with Spanish names. i.e. Somebody had taken your clip and put it up as a demonstration against ministers in a Spanish-speaking country. That was what was (correctly) described as fake news.

The only factcheker is left to yourself unfortunately,Common sense and a dose of scepticism being the only tools left in this engineered western civilization. “Faith” appears to be the only avenue left,but that also is exploited to the maximum.
My Facebook Account was disabled (permanently) about a year ago, when I posted information from ‘Russia Today’ website ref. US military complex. There was no way of challenging nor asking why….just permanently disabled to this day. I have tried to reopen account, but denied. Still, be thankful for small mercies as there are already too many ways that I have found to waste my time.

Ridiculous that you got a false information label put on you, and I am glad it did not stay that way for long. One of the things I have noted about Skwawkbox as a long time follower of the site is that when required corrections are ungrudgingly produced – and always given proper prominence.
