Enfield North CLP has carried a vote of no confidence in MP Joan Ryan after a tense and intense debate and a prolonged wait for the vote results.
A stony-faced Ryan left the meeting just before the result was announced, but video has emerged of the reaction of members as the result was announced:
Ms Ryan is closely allied to Enfield council leader Nes Caliskan, who with some of her supporters is the subject of an investigation by the party after allegations by a broad coalition of left, centre and right-wing Labour members regarding anti-democratic and discriminatory practices and intimidation.

Whomever her successor may be the new Party should only back candidates who previously had the foresight as well as courage to consistently challenge her poor behaviour as an MP. There’s a certain inevitability about what’s happening in Enfield North but I wouldn’t right her off just yet.
