#PeakCentrist reached as Grieve votes against own amendment. Will ‘moderates’ get point?

Tory MP Dominic Grieve was among a number of much-anticipated but ultimately non-rebelling MPs who accepted a meaningless government concession – something they would have had to do anyway – to vote down an amendment to the Tories’ EU Withdrawal Bill yesterday that would have given Parliament a say in the final Brexit deal.

It was his own amendment.

Surely we have reached ‘peak Tory rebel’?

Will Labour centrists and ‘FBPE’-hashtag fanatics who’ve spent months attacking Corbyn – who played a blinder yesterday to keep almost all Labour MPs onside – while praising supposedly-principled Tory ‘rebels’:

  • now admit that they’ve spent all these months barking up the wrong tree?
  • admit that Brexit was only the latest club they thought they could beat Corbyn up with for their own purposes?
  • none of the above

Guess where the SKWAWKBOX’s money is…
