Video: Labour’s Butler to C4 – “May needs to resign”. C4 – “how much more can she take?”

Labour front-bencher Dawn Butler pulled no punches last week when telling Sky News and the Commons about Theresa May’s lie – to MPs and the nation – about the destruction of the historical landing cards of the arriving Windrush generation – an act that made it far harder for UK citizens to prove their right to remain in the UK.

Yesterday, she told Channel 4 News that May’s responsibility for the abysmal treatment of Windrush citizens – and her decision to repeatedly ignore Labour attempts, across a period of years, to raise the issues with her – mean that May “needs to resign”:

Ms Butler, along with fellow front-bencher Diane Abbott and Tottenham MP David Lammy and others have worked tirelessly for the rights and wellbeing of their Commonwealth constituents, who have been harried and targeted under the government’s racist policies.

Comment:

The resignation of Theresa May’s human shield, Amber Rudd, at the weekend is in no way adequate when May was the architect of the racist policies and covered for Rudd’s lies about deportation targets until they were exposed – not to mention appointing a successor to Rudd who misled the House and the country less than ten minutes into his first Commons appearance as Home Secretary.
