Yet another left-wing Jew targeted by party – and again news leaked to right-wing hack whose libels of left-wingers cost paper a fortune

Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi, the only elected Jewish member of Labour’s national executive (NEC) and a leading member of left-wing Jewish group JVL, has been expelled by the Labour party. In line with the regime’s usual practice, the news was immediately leaked to right-wing hack Lee Harpin, whose repeated libels of left-wingers such as Liverpool’s Audrey White cost the Jewish Chronicle ‘substantial’ damages.
The expulsion took place on her birthday. Again, the news was public before she was aware of it – and then she received an email with the usual strict warnings not to comment publicly on it.
Ms Wimborne-Idrissi had been suspended on the usual flimsy grounds of association with now-proscribed groups that weren’t proscribed at the time – although the party spread false claims that she had associated with one after expulsion, when in fact she had merely attended a separate one-off event with a similar name.
In an echo of earlier antisemitism in which Walter Wolfgang was infamously manhandled out of a Labour conference under Blair, Wimborne-Idrissi was thrown out of the party’s Liverpool conference in September. As a victim of regular abuse by the Labour right machine, she featured prominently in the summer’s Al Jazeera ‘Labour Files‘ documentary series – studiously ignored by the right and the so-called ‘mainstream’ media – on the right’s sinister and anti-democratic behaviour.
The Labour right, the genuinely antisemitic – and anti-Black, anti-Gypsy and Islamophobic – wing of the party, has relentlessly targeted left-wing Jews in hugely disproportionate numbers. Ms Wimborne-Idrissi and others were repeatedly suspended by the party on the flimsiest pretexts and sometimes without giving a reason at all, routinely with the news leaked to the right’s media fellow-travellers and in particular Harpin.
Wimborne-Idrissi’s success in September’s NEC elections was a matter of great irritation to – and smears by – the right, leading Skwawkbox to predict that it would not be long before an excuse was found to expel her. She was quickly suspended and has now been thrown out in yet another example of the cowardice and shamelessness of the racist Labour right.
Ms Wimborne-Idrissi told the Skwawkbox she became aware of the expulsion only when people began calling her about Harpin’s tweets about it – but that the party had not been able to spoil her joy at becoming a granny this week. She has published a Twitter thread commenting on the process.
