Breaking: Starmer appoints Blair Institute director as deputy campaign chief

Marianna McFadden, from her Linkedin profile

Keir Starmer has taken yet another step down the road to being a Tony Blair tribute act by appointing Marianna McFadden, head of insights at Blair’s Institute for Global Change as his deputy campaigns director.

Blair Jr Starmer has also sacked another chief of staff – the second one he has removed in just 16 months. Ironically, McFadden will work with Morgan McSweeney, the previous chief of staff who was shuffled to campaign director by Starmer in June last year.

If the name McFadden seems familiar, it may be because she is married to Starmeroid front-bencher and fellow Blairite Pat McFadden. McFadden was one of four Blairite MPs rumoured in early 2019 to be considering quitting the Labour party under Jeremy Corbyn.
