Filmmaker who helped Tutu link UK schools and global south expelled by Labour

More retrospective punishment by right-wing regime – for being a member of a Facebook group

Award-winning filmmaker Hazuan Hashim has been expelled by the Labour party for being a member of a Facebook group about Socialist Appeal, the left activist group summarily ‘proscribed’ – banned – without cause by the Labour party under a misapplication of Labour’s rules against membership of groups that stand candidates against the party. Socialist Appeal had never stood candidates and was dedicated to activism within the party.

Labour has expelled members and supporters of the group even though their membership was before the proscription took place. However, in Hashim’s case the party has exposed its fundamental ignorance of – or more likely disregard for – how Facebook works. On that platform, any contact can add another contact to a group they think might be of interest, so a Facebook user might not even be aware of ‘membership’.

Right-winger Luke Akehurst, now one of the right-wing majority on Labour’s National Executive that is pushing the proscriptions, agreed in 2018 that using membership of a Facebook group to punish or criticise people for developments that took place after they joined it. However, the NEC has now told Hashim that his ‘membership’ of the Facebook group – which began long before Socialist Appeal was proscribed – was grounds for his expulsion:

As well as his film-making and activism in left causes, Liverpool-based Hashim was also instrumental in setting up a programme with the Desmond Tutu, who died on Boxing Day. The programme linked UK schools with schools in the global south – and a young Hashim was pictured with Tutu when it launched:

Hashim and his partner and fellow film-maker Phil Maxwell have long been targeted by the Labour right for standing in solidarity with left activists hounded by Labour’s right-wing regime, with Labour even breaching data protection laws to brief hostile journalists against them. The pair also produce the ‘The Art of Resistance’ programme for the well-known Merseyside Pensioners’ Association.

  1. I see that David Lammy has apologised for nominating Jeremy Corbyn.

In the Guardian article, he says the following ….

“Describing himself as a subscriber to the “rainbow coalition approach to politics”, he said he was proud of the Jewish community for standing “shoulder to shoulder” with leaders including Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu in their fight against apartheid.”

    Hmmmm

    1. FWIW JoeRobson, The Board of Deputies, the self-proclaimed “voice of the UK Jewish community”, didn’t formally remove itself from the establishment’s Thatcher position that Mandela was “a terrorist” until the mid 1990s – so how Davd Lammy’s re-writing of history is even possible*, I do not know.

      * except, of course, Jews do not form a ‘single’ community, and the BoD in no-way represents any </i)part of British Jewish communities. They are a right wing pressure group who conflate their religion with a nasty type of political nationalism called zionism.

    2. He does like popping up out of the blue with these random little nuggets of goat shit, doesn’t he. And so the Neoliberal TORIES like to cut their own legs from underneath themselves, slice by slice!

      1. Has he ever mentioned that he is a Christian. A man of God. Believer in cosmic justice? Oh, he has.

    3. Yes it is a stomach churning article. To paraphrase “if I had known what I know now I would not have nominated Jeremy Corbyn”. Well Mr Lammy, if I had known then what I know now, I would not have initially given you any credence whatsoever and I would have terminated my membership of the Labour Party on the day of Starmer’s election.

    4. That exactly demostrates how these so called socalist MP’s either apease or willfully ignorent of reality of this Labour party. I don’t understand how your idology is this opake. Mine means something to bme yes I understand you have to comprimise but there is comprimise and then just apeasment and the later seams more truthfull to me.

In the end if there is a God and I do get to see my socalist pearents again I don’t want to ever hang my head and have to say well to get a sorta Labour govenment we had to become Tory-lite… That isn’t Labour it’s a sick joke of just using the name and rosette and everything else is right wing.

I whould rather write proudly NONE OF THE ABOVE than tick Tory! Be it Red Tory or Blue Tory it’s still TORY.

The though of that alone makes me sick… We need a Socalist only Labour party because without that there is nothiong to vote for or help.

I can’t belive the unions keep on saying their fund socalist not this right wing basterdisation of Labour so where is it? I am tired of just talk it’s time for action.I certainlky have lost all faith in these so called socalist MP’s spineless the lot of them!

    5. JoeRobson
Lammy, sad to say I’m not surprised.
Read somewhere of a suggestion that Lammy could set a precedent in his apology for nominating Jeremy. Whereby there will be demands from the usual suspects that all Labour MPs who nominated him should apologise.
Next step, a thorough investigation into finding party members who voted for Jeremy. With calls for them to apologise and then immediately being expelled.

  2. George Gallo9way’s tweet to Sir Keir Rodney was right: “The anti-Apartheid champion of #BDS the late Archbishop #DesmondTutu would already have been expelled if he had been a member of the #keirstarmer Labour Party.

“So would #NelsonMandela Just think about that…”

    1. Can you imagine if they INVADED, OCCUPIED & INFESTED the ANC, It would look like a post-crimbo turkey, just bare bone, coming to think of it, just like The UK Labour Party does today with its ~10 MPs and some exiles!

      1. Nelly, it’s happened. The ANC is compromised, politically and morally. I fear for the nation’s future.

      2. Yes sadly I know that Wobbly, The worst of the damage done by the Uber Corrupt Zuma but long before that also. What I meant was if The Neo-Labour Party Tories got their hands on the ANC as we were talking about various figures being expelled by Blue Keef. Did you see the that Desmond Tutu is fast moving into Wieselman’s Nr1 Most Antisemite! One can only hope that his estate puts a stop to this twisted vindictive smearing!

    2. qwertboi, why stop at Nelson Mandela? Zamora Machel and Thomas Sankara would have been expelled too. Of course Salvador Allende, Lula, Evo Morales,López Obrador, Rafael Correa, in Europe he would have got ride of Olof Palme.. Basically, anyone that is democratic socialist and a capable pair of hands.

  3. Just came across the following video on youtube posted by Double Down News entitled ‘Meet The Wrong Type of Jew, The Media Doesn’t Want You To Know Exists | Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi’. It was posted in November last year and, to date, has been viewed 434,003 times (and has over 4,000 comments), which is just brilliant. Please check it out (12 mins), and share it far and wide:

    1. Yes, just one of the many fine and honourable people treated appallingly by Starmer. Over on JVL yesterday – appropriately titled “Another one bites the dust” – someone else named Anne Belworthy with over 65 years of active membership now expelled on the most spurious of grounds.

      1. Hear! Hear!
Both Heartbreaking and Aggravating at the same time! It is the way Zionists abuse Jews and The Holocaust that is most vulgar and most Antisemitic!
You just have to Internet Search Holocaust Survivors living in Abject Poverty to see how Zionists use ‘their’ money from international sources and nations to keep the “Holocaust Industry” running, in preference of adequate care and provision for Holocaust Survivors who desperately need that support, in Israel and abroad!

  4. If Bishop Tutu were alive today and a Labour member he wuold be up for expulsion too.

  5. Has anyone who has been expelled for being a member of these proscribed organisations responded to the accusations by writing to the party clearly declaring that when the relevant organisation was proscribed they resigned their membership and/or ceased to support it.

    1. I think you know exactly the answer to that and if you don’t I suggest you do a bit more research yourself – it can easily be found – then come back to us. Or not…

      1. Of course he knows the answer, Julia. It’s just another of his pointless rhetorical questions. Better to just ignore the fool when he comes out with such idiotic rubbish.

      2. PW, Julia, goldbach & dg – Well thanks for taking the time to respond but unfortunately not one of you has answered my question.

      3. I suggest that, instead of spending hours submitting inane, repetitive comments on this site you spend a little time on the JVL website and all will become clear. Do you own legwork.

      4. goldbach – Thanks for confirming that you don’t have an answer to my question. I had already looked for the information that I requested which is why I asked if anyone else knew the answer.
Perhaps you should reflect on why instead of just ignoring me you have felt the need to deflect from my, according to you, inane question
Given the claims about retrospective punishments it is a logical question to ask
“Has anyone who has been expelled for being a member of these proscribed organisations responded to the accusations by writing to the party clearly declaring that when the relevant organisation was proscribed they resigned their membership and/or ceased to support it.”
It looks like those involved have decided where their priorities lie.

      5. OK.
Anne Belworthy – Not a member of LIEN (or any of the other 3 proscribed groups, so couldn’t have “resigned”.. Expelled.
Diana Neslen – Not a member of any of the 4 groups. Under investigation.
Jo Bird – Attended a meeting and signed a petition a few years ago. Not a member of any of the 4 groups as far as I am aware, so couldn’t have “resigned”. Expelled.
Graham Bash – Signed an open letter which was also signed by members of 3 of the four groups (before proscription). Not aware that he was a member of any of these groups so couldn’t have “resigned”.Expelled.
Leah Levane – Attended a virtual conference organised by LIEN (before proscription). Difficult to “resign” from a conference that happened some time ago. Expelled.
Pamela Fitzpatrick – Gave an interview to Socialist Appeal (before proscription). Difficult to be uninterviewed retrospectively. Expelled.
Difficult to see how any of these people could have written to the party declaring that they had left the organisation when it was proscribed – since they were not members.
Strangely enough one or two of them are Jewish. Doesn’t look good for the LP.
Now go and have a pina colada and reflect on your life.

      6. You could have saved yourself some time and effort if you’d paid greater attention when you read my question.
“Has anyone who has been expelled for being a member of these proscribed organisations responded to the accusations by writing to the party clearly declaring that when the relevant organisation was proscribed they resigned their membership and/or ceased to support it.”

      7. No. I paid close attention to your “question”.
If you know the answer, then tell us.
If you don’t, then name those who have been expelled for membership of those organisations and I’m sure we can answer the “question” – unless , of course, itr was simply rhetorical.
        Peace be with you.

      8. goldbach – If you know the answer, then tell us.
Which bit of “I had already looked for the information that I requested which is why I asked if anyone else knew the answer.” did you find difficult to understand.

“Name those who have been expelled for membership of those organisations and I’m sure we can answer the “question”
Why are you persisting with these silly attempts to score points when you self evidently don’t know of anyone who has been expelled despite making it clear that they no longer support the proscribed organisation(s).

      9. We are clearly at cross purposes. I approach :debate” from a scientific perspective. You seem to approach it from the university union debating society perspective. Never the twain shall meet.

    2. You have never heard of the Jewish voice for Labour website then? Just in case Starmer’s favourite sock puppet wants to see some truth for a change here you go from the Guardian. So don’t worry you can’t be sacked for visiting their website…

      https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/dec/20/jewish-woman-accused-antisemitism-labour-threatens-sue-anti-zionism

There is story after story of the long term Jewish and non-Jewish members kicked out for even just posting comments supporting a tweet FFS. How you can claim to like a post or re-tweeting a message is really secret membership of that organization.

Hay ho liars justify everything to themselves where their own BS and predigests become truth and never wrong..!

    3. SteveH
You mean Bert from accounts, you think he has grounds for appeal, thanks for that, your contribution on here is always appreciated

    4. Do try and keep up at the back there, Mr Heep.

Two of these organised initiatives proscribed by the parasitic Starmer led Trilateral Commission Junta which has infected the LP no longer exist. Having voluntarily disbanded as separate entities by merging together into a totally new single organised initiative.

Consequently, given those named organised initiatives no longer exist there is at present no grounds for expelling members who were associated with those organised initiatives. If the current joke regime wishes to alienate any more voters and drive them away from voting for these clowns they are going to have to take another decision via the NEC to proscribe the new organisation.

That is assuming the operation of standard practice due process principles and standards which, given the track record, cannot be taken for granted.

On which note: you do know Mr Steve Heep, that in standard due process procedures developed over centuries that the onus is on the accusing Parties to demonstrate using objective evidence the guilt of the accused rather than issuing blanket accusation edicts depending people confirm the accusation and implied guilt?

It really is most unedifying for the reputation of those such as yourself to openly side with a process based on mob rule. Again, you should stick to counting the railings as you are clearly not ready to join in discourse with the grown ups in the room.

      1. Dave – Oh dear, if only we were all as clever as you think you are.

Two of these organised initiatives proscribed by the parasitic Starmer led Trilateral Commission Junta which has infected the LP no longer exist. Having voluntarily disbanded as separate entities by merging together into a totally new single organised initiative.
I wonder if the Labour party have spotted this ‘clever’ ploy? 🤔

If the current joke regime wishes to alienate any more voters and drive them away from voting for these clowns they are going to have to take another decision via the NEC to proscribe the new organisation.
Labour have gone up in the polls, not down. I doubt the average Labour voter gives a toss.

That is assuming the operation of standard practice due process principles and standards which, given the track record, cannot be taken for granted.
I agree the processes put in place and enacted by Corbyn & Formby were simply not fit for purpose. Thankfully these have now been replaced for all cases that involve protected characteristics. Hopefully we will also see improvements for those cases that don’t meet this criteria

On which note: you do know Mr Steve Heep, that in standard due process procedures developed over centuries that the onus is on the accusing Parties to demonstrate using objective evidence the guilt of the accused rather than issuing blanket accusation edicts depending people confirm the accusation and implied guilt?
You keep banging on about due process, ask yourself what would happen if you just ignored a County Court claim against you

It really is most unedifying for the reputation of those such as yourself to openly side with a process based on mob rule.
What mob rule would that be? What is unedifying about asking a simple straight forward and relevant question.
“Has anyone who has been expelled for being a member of these proscribed organisations responded to the accusations by writing to the party clearly declaring that when the relevant organisation was proscribed they resigned their membership and/or ceased to support it?”
However I would agree that some of the responses to my question have been rather childish and unedifying.

Again, you should stick to counting the railings as you are clearly not ready to join in discourse with the grown ups in the room.
FFS get over yourself. Why do you keep obsessing about counting railings, is it an OCD thing?

      2. SteveH
County Court Judgements are made by a District Judge who would strike out 99.9% of claims put up by Red Tories

      3. Doug – ………….and that is relevant in this context because ???

      4. Doug – ………. and your opinion on this is relevant to this particular conversation because ???

      5. Oh dear Mr Heep you really don’t get it do you, poor thing.

You are asking a question based on the premise that members accused of belonging to a proscribed organisation or organised initiative respond to that accusation by accepting the accusation and, as a result, tacitly concede their guilt.. Either explicitly or implicitly.

This is not how due process operates. The onus is on those making the allegation, and in this case acting on it as though already proven beyond doubt, to establish their accusation with objective based evidence. Conversely, there is no obligation on the part of those subject to the allegation to accept the allegation.

People are being hounded out of the Party without any recognised standards of due process. Simply a letter saying you are guilty.

Such witch hunts with their absence of recognised due process principles and standards is widely recognised and accepted as the rule of the mob. At least for those who live in the reality based community.

You have been supplied with sufficient evidence to answer your spurious ‘when did you stop beating your wife’ question. Yet you continue to troll this site because the reality is that there is no honest factual evidence based answer you will ever accept as it would not fit your bad faith position and approach.

Rather than continue these pathetic attempts to avoid and evade the truth of the matter with distractions and disingenuous misrepresentations it would be far better to engage your limited time with something more constructive.

  6. Imagine if this was happening in any of our EU neighbourhood countries – the news media would be all over it like a rash!

    1. I’m not so sure, Neoliberalism has a pretty firm grip on Europe, look at Macron Pure Blairite/Blue Keith/Clintons/Obama/Biden cabal The German “Socialists” seem as Neoliberal as Marcle and Scandinavia seems in the grip of the far right. The Spanish “Socialists” were the ones who sent the police in bashing that old lady, do you remember some time ago, I think it was an independence protest, so their MSM will be as infested by Neoliberal Parasites as their Parties are as our UK Labour Labour is!

      1. @nelly – I’d like your comment 100 times if I could. Well said.

The neoliberals have taken control of, and “synchronised” the MSM in many/most European countries now, and, yes, nelly, your other main point is true too: “bought” politicians like Macron and Merkel are willing partners (collaborators) in promoting the “covid narrative” solely to extend neoliberalsim and thereby buy capitalism a little more time before its impending melt-down.

        100 likes from me nellyskelly.

      2. With much gratitude I take a bow or 100 🙂 Yes it is a wild mess, but their desperation is very obvious. I am still under the firm belief that the Neoliberals in charge of all the once Left/Socialist Parties are imposter Parties, not individuals, not of the Parties they Colonise and that it is all to do with removing CHOICE by force of “The X-Lateral Commission” so that there are only Right Wing Neoliberal vs Right Wing Neoliberal. Nothing in between and all serving the same Masters, which are NOT The PEOPLE which it should be!

      3. @nelly, 6.08pm – Yup, once we recognised the process, the left itself called it ‘pasok’-ification, and, I suspect, Clinton and Blair were the pioneers of the strategem (maybe Israel Labor party also played a prelim part in this too) by making their own parties neoliberal (i.e. they denatured the red parts of the class divide to make the capitalist side the winners). It worked. I’ve often wondered how much CIA money it took to buy blair and his ‘enterist’ new labour babes , which, of course, made Benn and Corbyn and the SCG seem ‘extreme’ and non moderate). Now of course, socialists are intrinsically racist Jew-haters and obviously beyond the pale for any civilised society…

      4. That is exactly it Thatcher and Reagan the Architects of the current flavour of Neoliberalism dipped in and sprinkled with Neoconservatism, Blair then created The People of The SUN with Murdoch and slowly, slowly they dragged so called Labour voters way past ‘rattle bones in a box’s’ seat on the Political spectrum, Mandelson and Campbell did the same with the wannabees in The People of The SUN in Lambs Clothing aka The Guardian etc. They may all believe they are of the Left on the Political Spectrum, but by now it’s nothing but empty tin cans to clang at Dinner Soirees to “impress”, they have become as TORY as any other TORY. Utterly vile creatures and the disdain they speak with of Socialists and The Left is testament to that. They are now as ignorant as Americans are about Communism and Socialism. We must start looking at the origins and causes for that mindset and it is all MSM conditioning, Manufactured Consent to Hate. There was a moment when The People of The SUN became very vocal and disturbingly far right sounding, towards GE2019, that shook me a bit, up to then they were typically PC illiterate but manageable. I think it was when Blair, Mandelson, Campbell and The People of The SUN in Lambs Clothing on the Remoan Bandwagon reached the peak and their constant screaming about something Corbyn already written into the Brexit Plan, a second opportunity to vote, it sent Galloway loopy and they all jumped on Farage’s Vote Brexit at any cost Bandwagon straight to TORY hell. Bah, what is done is done now all we can do is to fight ALL MSM cut off the top 5%’s supply of money by constant personal boycotting ie if you’re an Apple person, stop immediately and switch to Huawei, Alcatel, or anything that is half decent and half the price!
My Samsung Mini gave up the ghost after 12 years of work-horsing, after a quick search I found an £80 Alcatel, I tell you what I have been nothing but impressed, it’s got all the top goodies inside, just put in a plastic casing. We just don’t need to buy those Neoliberal’s expensive tat in harder plastic casings NEEDoverWANT Revolution.

      5. @nelly, 9.28pm – I love that (…em..thingy, is it what the kids call a meme?) picture on the link. Covid skeptics (sic, I know) tend to use them a lot and I’ve learned how to copy them acros to a programme (Notes) where I can save them. That one’s definitely a keeper – and the information it presents is priceless. Thanks

      6. Yes, it is what the kids call a meme, not sure what that means, but they are wonderful activism tools and thank you for the compliment, feel free to use, thank you!

  7. This is truly disgusting, the Labour party is an apartheid supporting party, as B’Tselem, Human Rights Watch and the UN group led by Richard Falk have documented, further it has the Jewish Labour Movement [JLM]affiliated to it, who in turn are affiliated to the World Zionist Organization WZO, war criminals who are building settlements in the West Bank in breach of paragraph 6 article 49 of the 1949 Geneva Conventions, called a grave war crime. It is impermissible to transfer part of the Occupiers own citizens into occupied territory. Starmer Supports Apartheid and war crimes he has to go. https://www.haaretz.com/.premium-wzo-bankrolled-illegal-outpost-1.5322515

  8. World Zionist Organization Settlement Division Finances Illegal West Bank Outposts
The World Zionist Organization’s Settlement Division has granted loans for setting up illegal outposts in the West Bank ■ Public funds were given to settlers in exchange for mortgaging of non-existent plots https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-world-zionist-organization-settlement-division-finances-illegal-west-bank-outposts-1.6723987

  9. Should not Starmer be expelled for setting up this Marxist journal? Of course not, that would be retrospective and against natural law.
The Labour leadership contender Sir Keir Starmer helped set up a Marxist journal in the mid-1980s which attacked the Labour party and called for “radical change”
However, in 1986, just after completing a postgraduate law degree in Oxford, Sir Keir was a member of the “editorial collective” which founded a radical left-wing journal called Socialist Alternatives.
The magazine was sharply critical of the Labour party under Neil Kinnock,’

    1. Harry Laws, I used to wonder where the money came from which enabled grouplets to print papers. I don’t anymore.

    1. Nope.
It is always been wedded to the white supremacist capitalist cause.

  10. Should we offer appologies or thanks to Hazuan Hashim for being expelled by StasiStarmer’s ‘show-me-your-papers’ Labour party simply for being a member of a Facebook group about Socialist Appeal?

In either case Huzuan you have my respect for not doing a steviehlad and immediately rescinding your support for Socialist Appeal the second the party’s anti-leader, Sir Keir Rodney Strormtrooper, illegally proscribed SA.

And for that, you are due some thanks. Thanks.

  11. You are quite correct Smartboy – anyone and his Auntie can pose as a Socialist
or as an uncommitted person on Social Media these days. States have perfected
this – Russia, the US, China .. Iran ..UK .. Israel ..

On a separate note did anyone see the program about the Stuxnet worm on BBC TV
a bit ago? Its unavailable there now but available on YouTube if you google
    Zero Days Stuxnet worm

The program is a history of how the USA plus others introduced a worm
into the Iran Nuclear “reactor” internal system – supposedly separate from
the internet – to mess it up and the worm “escaped” to do untold damage
to other world wide systems ..

    1. Thanks Holby, huxnet itself is a 500-kilobyte computer worm that infects software. I’ll hunt-down the programme you mention and enjoy it. Thanks.

It’s claimed that huxnet has been infecting retail banks’ payment systems that use VISA Net all around the world since about 2012. ‘Worm’ or ‘virus’, now you told me the programme (‘Zero Days’?) was a BBC offering, I’ll probably distrust everything it tells me… 😀 Thanks.

      1. In fact what you get if you google as I recommended is a Youtube version –
which I THINK is longer than the version broadcast on BBC4 ..

AS for the site(s) mentioned above – I think I’ll avoid ALL of them. If
it is not obvious who is on the side off the Angels then Best Avoid.

  12. PS About Stuxnet – it was originally designed to affect the centrifuges
in Iran which separate out the required Uranium (Plutonium) for the nuclear
    bomb/reactor.

The Youtube program explains how the Computer/Physical Scientists worked
out the how, the why and the wherefore after Stuxnet had escaped
    its original intention.

    1. That vile creature stands accused of grotesque crimes against minors. I am not holding my breath till justice takes place. He’s the defender of Oxbridge socialite and pervert lane, Maxwell. Nuff said. Lawyers, you’ve got to love them.
