Labour puts GPs on ‘bonus to turn a blind eye’ to game NHS data and fool public it’s cutting waiting lists, as reality of ‘integrated care’ plan further exposed

Skwawkbox and others have long exposed the reality of the so-called NHS ‘integrated care systems’ (ICS) plan that incentivises providers not to treat the sick, by paying them a share of supposed ‘savings’ as profit – a system copied from the US that rations care and penalises the sick, yet is wholeheartedly endorsed by the ‘Labour’ government as part of Health Secretary Wes Streeting’s ‘slash and burn’ ’10-year plan’ for the NHS.

Now the Labour government – most of which, including Streeting and his boss Keir Starmer, have taken large amounts of cash from private health interests – has been caught using ICS to try to cook the books on NHS waiting lists, by paying GPs not to refer patients to hospitals for treatment where they would be added to waiting lists for treatments – ‘cutting’ waiting lists by barring people from treatment. As one expert NHS campaigner put it:
Your GP is now on a bonus to turn a blind eye, so get ready to treat yourself.
This is not humour. Labour’s party conference last year included a session, sponsored by profit-driven private health giants, titled:
How to save 25 million GP appointments: the role of self-care in delivering an NHS fit for the future.

‘Self-care’ – DIY treatment – was not a new idea at last October’s Labour conference for the people pushing health privatisation, though it’s rare to see it stated so nakedly. It’s not the first time it has been baldly stated, though – or the first time it has been stated as a plan under ‘integrated’ care. John Oldham, appointed in 2013 by Labour to strategise so-called ‘integration’, was already a big advocate, as NHS campaigner Caroline Molloy noted shortly after his appointment:

Labour is continuing and fully supports the dangerous Tory project to replace fully-trained (and therefore expensive for businesses and harmful to profit margins) doctors with ‘physician associates’ and ‘anaesthetist associates’ so that if you survive ‘self-care’ and ever get an appointment, you might think you’re seeing a doctor but are not. People have already died as a result.
Some might naively think that Labour wouldn’t do all this if it will kill people, but this is a party that has got into government and quickly cut the Winter Fuel Allowance despite knowing it will kill at least 4,000 people a year, is keeping 1.5 million kids in poverty even though it would be cheaper to lift them out of it – and is pushing the ‘physician associate’ role even though it knows that it poses a high risk to patients.
Streeting has now appointed a former private health CEO and ardent advocate of the use of ‘associates’ to run the Department of Health and Social Care – and another health privatiser to oversee his ‘slash and burn’ plan.

Along with the private sector “assisted dying” market and the systemic step by step dismantling of more and more social security provision for the vulnerable in society, this represents yet a further front in the war of the 1% to rid the world of the 99% they consider to be surplus to requirements useless eaters standing in the way of their access to having all the resources for themselves.

“moving a lot of care out of hospitals into community settings.”
As an example, the article I read mentions 400,000 with ‘digestive’ problems waiting for hospital appointments, many of whom could be referred to ‘community dieticians’. Potentially many of those could also have the start of cancer, for example. How is sending someone in that position to a ‘community dietician’ without any medical screening do anything but defer much needed medical treatment and result in a much worse outcome for the patient.
And no doubt ‘community dieticians’ themselves are already under pressure.
“By caring for patients closer to home, we save time and stop masses of people for hospital appointments having to head to hospital for unnecessary appointments in the first place.”
This from Karyn Smith who is Minister of State for NHS Reform and also is a Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Choice at the End of Life. Now isn’t that a nice overlap of jobs!
Vile Starmer and Co. have the nerve to talk about benefits ‘incentivising’ disabled people not to work, yet ‘incentivise’ GPs to get patients off waiting lists by paying them £20 per patient they can offload to ‘community care’, care that is already no doubt struggling.

I Worked At Palantir: The Tech Company Reshaping Reality
A former Palantir employee is sounding the alarm. The tech company, founded by Peter Thiel, claims they can revolutionize government systems with their AI-powered software. They’ve been hired by the Department of Defense, the FBI, ICE, and even Wendy’s. Now DOGE will likely hire Palantir as well.
It may well be worse than that:

“Sam Altman, the previous non-profit hero of Open AI, but now out to maximise profits for Microsoft, argues that yes, unfortunately there are ‘trade-offs’ in the short term, but they’re necessary to reach so-called AGI; and AGI will then help us solve all these problems so the trade off of ‘externalities’ is worth it.
AGI? What’s this? Artificial generalised intelligence (AGI) is the holy grail of AI developers. It means that AI models would become ‘superintelligent’ way above human intelligence. When that is achieved, Altman promises, its AI won’t just be able to do a single worker’s job, it will be able to do all of their jobs: “AI can do the work of an organization.” This would be the ultimate in maximising profitability by doing away with workers in companies (even AI companies?) as AI machines take over operating, developing and marketing everything. This is the apocalyptic dream for capital (but a nightmare for labour: no job, no income).
That’s why Altman and the other AI moguls will not stop expanding their data centres and developing yet more advanced chips just because DeepSeek has undercut their current models. Research firm Rosenblatt forecast the response of the tech giants: “In general, we expect the bias to be on improved capability, sprinting faster towards artificial general intelligence, more than reduced spending.” Nothing must stop the objective of super-intelligent AI.”
