Far-right Israeli settlements minister’s daughter accuses parents and brother of years-long sexual abuse

Israeli settlement minister Orit Strook

Shoshana Strook, the daughter of the Israeli government’s far-right ‘Minister of Settlement and National Missions’ Orit Strook, has filed a formal complaint with Italian police accusing her parents and one of her brothers of sexually assaulting her for years.

In a social media statement, Shoshana Strook wrote of her alleged ordeal:

Hi, after a long period of doubts, extreme emotional states, and a lot of guilt, I wanted to share that I experienced sexual abuse by both of my parents and also by one of my brothers.

In addition, memories have surfaced in which I hit three of my younger brothers. I’m currently in Italy and recently filed a report with the police.

Many memories have been coming up lately, but it’s becoming too overwhelming. I hope to find a place where I can find some relief.

Orit Strook is a fanatical supporter of Israel’s illegal settlements on stolen Palestinian land and has pushed and amplified the extremist Netanyahu government’s narrative, including disproven claims of sexual violence on 7 October 2023, which the regime has used as justification for its genocide and other crimes in Gaza. She has also opposed attempts to agree a ceasefire.

A report last year by child protection group Humanium pointed out that illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank have become a ‘refuge’ for paedophiles fleeing justice in other countries, particularly the US:

Many sex offenders…find refuge in ultra-Orthodox settlements in the West Bank (The Jewish Independent, 2024). Over 700,000 Israeli settlers reside in these areas, occupying Palestinian land in 150 government-supported settlements, which are deemed illegal under international law. Government funding also extends to unauthorized outposts, allowing convicted offenders to live with minimal interference (Al Jazeera, 2023).

As a result, West Bank settlements have faced prolonged scrutiny over severe allegations of child sex abuse, including rape and child pornography. These cases, marked by extensive online exploitation and in-person assaults, underscore a troubling trend, as the settlements have been known to harbor individuals accused of sexual offenses for an extended period (The Times of Israel, 2023).

Hardline Zionists in the UK, for example in January former Jewish Labour Movement chair Ivor Caplin, have also been arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse, or planned sexual abuse, of minors.

Caplin is not the only such scandal among the pro-Israel Labour right. In 2023, Hackney Labour right-winger Thomas Dewey was sentenced to just 150 hours community service despite admitting possessing pictures of child rape including torture and bestiality. Keir Starmer’s Labour allowed Dewey to stand as a candidate in local elections even after his arrest, locked Hackney women members out of the party’s systems to prevent them discussing the issue and threatened members with disciplinary sanctions if they tried to ask questions.

UK media and politicians have so far ignored the allegations.

  1. Not remotely surprised.

The links between friends of isreal (ALL parties AND the supposedly non-political ‘celebs’) and CSA are far too intertwined and far too numerous to be classed as mere ‘coincidence’.

    1. Are YOU a friend of israel, wee gobshite? You possess plenty – bordering on all – of their attributes.

  2. Off topic from Richard J Murphy. Even though there were no monetary economic reasons for the imbecilic Reeves’ cuts to benefits, the sums to be ‘saved’ were, and still are, already available as explained here:

Why won’t Rachel Reeves could [sic] cut the interest paid by the government to the UK’s commercial banks?

Purge the Zionists or Perish: Labour’s Road to Ruin

The time for ambiguity is over. Neutrality is complicity. Silence is complicity. Labour is now fatally compromised by the presence of apologists for apartheid, for colonialism, and for the most heinous war crimes in living memory…

The sickness within Labour runs deep. These MPs who drape themselves in the banner of Zionism are not mere “supporters of Israel”. They are defenders of apartheid, mouthpieces for a regime that brutalises Palestinians daily.

They weaponise false accusations of antisemitism to silence critics of Israel’s atrocities. They undermine the party’s working-class base, which overwhelmingly supports Palestinian liberation. They defile the memory of international solidarity that once defined Labour’s soul.

Their presence in the party is an insult to every principle Labour claims to uphold: justice, equality, and human rights. By retaining them, Labour betrays the oppressed and stands with the oppressor.

    1. This piece from October 2023 by John Newsinger at Socialist Worker seems appropriate here — Zionism, for essentially different reasons, has nevertheless been supported by all sides of the Labour Party.

Labour has backed Zionist terror for 100 years

British socialists who did support the Palestinians in the 1930s were condemned as antisemites.

On 10 August 1917, the Labour Party conference declared its support for Zionism, three months before the Balfour Declaration and this was made even more explicit at a joint Labour Party-TUC conference on 28 December 1917.

Labour committed itself to supporting the establishment of a Zionist colony in Palestine where “such of the Jewish people as desire to do so may return and may work out their salvation, free from interference by those of alien race and religion”.

Why did the Labour Party take this stand? For the Labour right, there were two motives. One was because they saw a Zionist colony in the Middle East as strengthening the British Empire and the other was because they did not want Jewish refugees fleeing antisemitic persecution in Europe coming to Britain.

As for the Labour left, they convinced themselves that the Zionist settlement was a socialist project that would actually benefit the Palestinians.

Labour support for Zionism was made clear at conference after conference…

The only time that the support of the Labour leadership for Zionism ever weakened was when it was seen as undermining the Empire’s position throughout the rest of the Middle East. This was felt to be the case once Labour took power in 1945 and the Labour government reneged on its Zionist commitment.

Only the Labour Left, including the Tribune newspaper, continued to support the Zionists even through the Nakba, the expulsion by violence and terror of over 800,000 Palestinians from their homes.

For the likes of Richard Crossman MP, a leading figure on the Labour left, the Palestinians were not driven out of their homeland but left voluntarily and anyway as he told the Commons, their homes were “only mud huts…terribly bad villages full of vermin”.

Once Israel was established, the Labour leadership returned to its enthusiastic support for Zionism. From Harold Wilson to Tony Blair to Keir Starmer enthusiastic support for Israel and condemnation of Palestinian resistance has been a keystone of Party policy.

  4. It has obviously been weaponised beyond all-recognition, but isn’t an essential tag missing from Skwawkbox’s article (#ANTISEMITISM)?

I wonder if Orit Strook has accused her daughter of it yet.

  5. Hmm to come out with her family has
Interfered with her and rightly blame them why now but the killing of innocent people’s is now beyond doubt a war crimes to answer for but our government is glove in hands with them
