Keir Starmer has given peerages to cronies including his former chief of staff Sue Gray, who resigned amid a storm only two months ago. But most prominent among his appointment to the lifelong ‘money for turning up’ posts are a number of faces who played prominent roles in the ‘Labour antisemitism’ scam used by the party’s hard right to topple left-wing former leader Jeremy Corbyn and then to throw out or disgust most of the Labour left so that Starmer could tighten his oily hold on the levers of party power.
Luciana Berger was the poster-child of the smear campaign, notably allowing press and party claims that she had to have an armed guard inside Labour’s Liverpool conference – a complete fabrication – to go uncorrected and doing the same when right-wing horrors painted antisemitic threats against her by right-wing extremists as if they came from left-wingers. Labour also mounted an assault on local party members who wanted rid of her as their MP and candidate. She repaid Labour’s capitulation by defecting to the ludicrous ‘Tinge’ party ‘Change UK’ and then to the LibDems (two months after saying she had ‘no intention’ of doing so), only to be rejected by Finchley voters when she stood in Barnet. Starmer fell over himself to welcome her back into his ‘new’ party.
David Evans was Labour’s general secretary under Starmer until earlier this year, at which point he quit as his campaign business – which he had signed over to his wife as this would supposedly prevent a conflict of interest when Labour awarded it contracts – fell apart. Evans was at the helm during an array of anti-democratic manoeuvres and doorstepped voters in Wirral against Jewish Green candidate Jo Bird, who had been hounded out of Labour for being a left-wing Jew. Most shamefully, Evans – along with his boss – was repeatedly warned by whistleblower Elaina Cohen of serious and sadistic abuse perpetrated by a party staffer and did nothing.
Mike Katz of the Jewish Labour Movement – set up specifically to undermine Corbyn – was one of the most common faces claiming the party had an ‘antisemitism problem’, coming out again to justify Starmer’s purge of the left – and especially left-wing Jews – over the confected issue.
Former Labour a friends of Israel chair and MP Steve McCabe was filmed during this year’s general election campaign telling a Muslim voter who supported independent candidate Kamal Hawwash that Hawwash is a ‘Hamas supporter‘. McCabe is also a proud denier of Israel’s genocide in Gaza:

Hard-line Blairite and former Sedgefield MP Phil Wilson was one of a handful of MPs who falsely accused Laura Pidcock of dodging media questions about the antisemitism scam. Wilson also claimed he ‘feared for the soul’ of Labour because of antisemitism, now clearly a scam but still regurgitated by the Labour right.
All these are how lining up to collect their ermine and collect hundreds of pounds a day just for turning up, rewarded for their services to avoiding the change the country is crying out for and getting further away from under Starmer.
