Streeting advertises for £45kpa campaign manager 5 years before next GE – frit much?

Starmer mini-me held seat by only 528 votes in July against British Palestinian Leanne Mohamad

Labour right-winger Wes Streeting is advertising for a £45 per year campaign manager – he’s calling it a ‘local organiser’ but the job description makes clear what the role is – at the taxpayer’s expense.

The job advert on parliamentary employment site W4MP as being for an initial two-year period with an option to extend, reads (emphases added):

Job Details

This is an exciting opportunity to join Wes’s team in Ilford North. This role will help Wes run successful community and election campaigns in his Ilford North constituency. This is a vital role supporting Wes in being an active, visible and local MP with a voice at the heart of a Labour government. You will help build on and maintain our existing capacity to run year round campaigns and door knocking in Ilford North

This is a full-time role and it will require flexible working, including some work at the weekend and in the evening.

This is a fixed term role from the time of appointment for 2 years initially.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • To develop and be responsible for delivering a constituency campaign plan making sure we have the infrastructure to run successful election campaigns.
  • To recruit, develop and train teams of volunteers to deliver effective year round campaigning and organising using all available campaign methods.
  • To organise regular campaigning sessions and print distribution with activists and volunteers.
  • To design and produce print materials including leaflets and direct mails promoting Wes’s activities
  • To design and deliver digital campaigns and materials, including targeted content, social media and website management, and producing online petitions and surveys.
  • To work with Wes to design and deliver community campaigns with impact for residents.
  • Organising and running public events on community and campaigning issues
  • Performing other tasks as needed.

Person specification:

  • Ability to use Labour Party systems e.g. Contact Creator and Organise [Labour’s campaign tools]
  • Experience of running and managing political campaigns
  • Ability to work with, lead and motivate people
  • Ability to work with stakeholders and members
  • Ability to produce printed material
  • Ability to use digital campaigning tools

In July, Streeting was only 528 votes away from defeat to British-Palestinian independent candidate Leanne Mohamad, who campaigned on her record of standing against Israel’s genocide and on a genuine political vision for the area that stood out compared to Labour’s meaningless ‘Change’ slogan and manifesto that promised only more of the same as the Tories, with Starmer making clear in government that that is exactly what he intends to deliver.

Pro-Israel NHS-privatiser Streeting, who once screamed in the face of Diane Abbott, Britain’s first Black woman MP and who, like his boss, has accepted large donations from private health interests and supporters of Israel, appears to be frit about his prospects next time round – and happy to use public funds for a non-stop political campaign to try to stave off redundancy.

  1. Well done, Leanne, you scared the crap out of the dreck!

    Next time, eh, next time!

  2. SteveH – if you can prove you’re still taking your boosters, you might be able to do the job ‘remote’….

    1. qwertboi – Streeting would be better off employing some real AI and pocketing the £45K than opting for such sub-standard DI (Dumb ‘Intelligence’).

      1. qwertboi – Thank you for thinking about me but it doesn’t pay anywhere near enough to tempt me out of my retirement.

Dave – Given that I don’t claim to have any expertise in this area you may well be right on this one occasion.
Why don’t you apply for the job?

      2. Some of us have standards, Billy. Like not working for children, idiots and incompetents*; or working for anyone who does a bodge job.

And for very sound reasons; like not being anywhere near the blast zone when the shit hits the fan and the house built on quicksand inevitably sinks into oblivion (and this one most certainly will) dragging all those associated with it into the mire – no matter how far away they (allegedly) live.

*Streeting satisfies all three criteria and will be deservedly out on his ear next time around, no matter how much money he pours into trying to save his worthless little arse.

  3. That photograph is priceless! Three months into Starmer’s government and already worried about next GE, says it all…

    1. He’ll have a business plan Julia for his ‘backers’ /’sponsors’. Maybe just realising that he won’t completely privatised the NHS in only 4 years, so needing to get their backing for finishing the centrist ‘marketisation’ that Blair and Brown, misc tohries and Health and Social Care Act 2012 have ruined already.

  4. In the latest News Statesman, Kevin McGuire says:
“Three of the temporarily suspended – Zarah Sultana, John McDonnell and Apsana Begum – are said to be ready to accept or declare permanent exclusion. July’s election of four independent Muslims and Jeremy Corbyn is focusing the minds of rebels. Sitting as MPs for an independent Labour party would be back to a bolder, brasher, more socialist future.”
Bearing in mind that the title of the same issue’s editorial is “Labour adrift”, and that the first substantial article is a full-scale profile of Morgan McSweeney, that labels him a Blairite, member of Labour’s “old right”, and “a part of the Blue Labour faction” – all sources of Labour’s political travails – says a lot about what we can really expect from this political leviathan!
In truth, major political realignment beckons those bold enough to respond and organise.

    1. absolutelyLudus57. Me, I’ve unsubscribed from a couple of Campaign Group MP’s email lists. Until they actively LEAVE starmer’s pretend-Labour PLP, I won’t give them time of day.

    2. From the NS, a virulent anti-Corbyn paper, this both a collapse in support for Starmer and a fear of a left resurgence – inside and outside Labour.

      1. Absolutely.

        |Corbyn Hater’s Weekly is what it should have been called.

  5. Sorry to go off topic, but…

RE: woodcocks sacking. I’m wondering if sue grays dismissal (and macwiener’s subsequent promotion) are somehow connected?

Last week, the snivelling grass that calls itself a journalist (risible cokesnot or whatever its name is) was putting it about that there’s a whole load more shite within the smarmerite cesspit that could well be ‘political dynamite’ (or something not dissimilar)

We then hear that lord wally is – quietly – relieved of its remit

Then, not long after, keef’s (former) chief-of-staff, sue gray, is binned, and the press are all over it.

Now, I appreciate gray had the infinitely more prominent role, hence the coverage. But putting that aside, woodcock was one of the main antisemitism accusers/instigators when Corbyn was leader, and was only blabbing about demands for changing civil liberty laws a few weeks back

Did gray know something we don’t about woodcock, and then remove the rodent from post, for it?

Does woodcock hold sway (being part of the israeli lobby) with macwiener and keef I.e. are they somehow indebted to woodcock for *ahem* ‘services rendered’??

I’ll wager both dismissals are connected, even if not within the scenario(s) alluded to.

And I DO wish someone would spill on this supposed ‘open secret’ oakshite says there is about smarmerist labour.
