US ‘Gaza ceasefire’ deal isn’t a ceasefire – and Israel still won’t sign it anyway

US and Israel still blaming Hamas for lack of ceasefire – but latest deal won’t stop the killing and Israel has no intention of halting its genocide in Gaza

The new ‘ceasefire deal’ that has been touted by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken – with him blaming ‘Hamas’ for it not being agreed – isn’t a ceasefire deal at all and is stacked entirely in favour of Israel and the objectives it has been unable to achieve militarily.

Yet Israel still hasn’t agreed it – though this has not stopped US spokespeople claiming that it has.

The so-called ‘deal’:

  • involves no permanent ceasefire and no withdrawal of Israeli forces
  • involves no release of the thousands of Palestinian hostages held and tortured by Israel – but the release of Israeli captives
  • leaves Israel’s years-long blockade in place
  • leaves Israel in control of the vital Rafah border, through which most humanitarian aid needs to flow and where it is almost wholly being blocked by Israel and far-right settler groups protected by Israeli troops, and the ‘Philadelphi corridor’ that runs along it
  • leaves Israel in control of the so-called ‘Netzarim corridor’ that splits Gaza into northern and southern halves and is used by Israel as a conduit and launching point for murderous raids north and south
  • leaves residents of northern Gaza, who moved south to supposed ‘safe zones’ where they were still bombed and slaughtered by occupation forces, permanently unable to return north
  • rejects the agreed UN resolution for a permanent ceasefire
  • leaves Israel at liberty to continue its genocidal war on Palestinian civilians as long as it wants

Blinken and his spokespeople have claimed that Israel has agreed the deal and only Hamas is preventing its implementation. However, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokespeople have said the deal is not agreed – even though Israel was allowed to add various punitive conditions to what had been discussed before.

Netanyahu himself said this week that he will never accept any ceasefire that leaves Israel unable to continue its attacks on Gaza until ‘Hamas is destroyed’ – a goal that military experts including those in Israel say is unachievable and that Israel is nowhere near. The Israeli regime classifies all adult males in Gaza as ‘Hamas’ and even mid to older teens, while the occupation force routinely targets attacks on homes and shelters it knows contain women and infants.

So far, Israel has killed around 200,000 people and maimed around twice as many – mostly women and children – and is imposing famine and rampant disease on around two million Palestinians in Gaza, part of a constant stream of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The US and its tame, complicit UK government continue to supply it with weapons, military support and political cover.

  1. It’s reached the my dad’s bigger than your dad stage
Which side has the power to deter the other
Israel and the Ham Shanks are about to find out
What would be Ironic is if the IDF headquarters were attacked as they are smack bang in the middle of a residential area of Tel Aviv
Genius is knowing when to listen to your military advisors

    That right? (genuine question).

How ‘noble’ of the self-styled ‘most moral army in the world’ to plant themselves there.

Meanwhile, regarding that black lad who was set on by the knobheads and restrained by the plod in Manchester…Turns out the one screaming ‘kill him’ is a convicted nonce case, who has a house full of nazi paraphernalia…was also heard shouting ‘save our kids’

And the racist knobheads danced to the nonce’s tune. 😕

  3. Blinken’s ‘golden’, isn’t he?

He can say what he wants to, lie when he wants to, and there’s no comeback on him. His immediate ‘boss’ is Joe Biden, who has to muster all his faculties to remember what day it is.

The US aren’t beholden to the protocols of the ICC, or the ICJ, so no comeback there.

I wonder what contact there’s been between the US State Department and those two organisations. Who has put pressure on whom – and what kind of pressure was it?

Why do the ICC and ICJ remain so tight-lipped amidst the carnage of Palestine? Of course, their statements and judgements keep people thinking they’re both doing a fine job, but ‘doing a fine job’ doesn’t stop the carnage.

Yep, Blinken can look forward to a cosy, carefree retirement. Along the lines of Henry Kissinger’s retirement, really.

  4. Blinken really is about the lamest diplomat in US history. Total doormat.

Better for all sides if he just sent in a black ops guy to take Netanyahu out and let Hamas deal with someone who doesn’t have a vested interest in prolonging the war in order to stay out of jail!
