Israel lobby trying to outlaw independent candidates and campaigns

Scrutiny of Labour MPs over Gaza categorised as ‘extremist’ – and Israel-funded ‘adviser on political violence’ wants new Home Secretary to target independent candidates and their anti-genocide campaigns

Right-wing peer Lord Walney – former right-wing Labour MP John Woodcock, who has been kept on by the Starmer government as an extremism adviser despite quitting the party rather than face an investigation over sex-pest allegations and has accepted repeated donations from Israel – wants new Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to target independent candidates and campaigners as ‘extremists’.

Woodcock has told Cooper that the campaigns that successfully ousted right-wing Labour MPs such as Jonathan Ashworth for their support of Israel despite Israel’s genocide in Gaza – could be a “concerted campaign by extremists” and has asked her and security minister Dan Jarvis to target them for investigation for allegedly being the ‘dark underbelly of abuse’.

Ashworth and other ousted Labour MPs have whined that they faced ‘intimidation’, when in fact video evidence shows they simply faced challenge and scrutiny from angry locals. Woodcock claims that the “conduct of the election campaign in many communities has underlined the gravity of the threat to our democracy”. The anti-genocide campaigner who filmed Ashworth being questioned by constituents has been arrested on suspicion of ‘terrorism’ offences. Labour, in ‘opposition’, prevented party members from asking Ashworth questions about Gaza.

Woodcock, an ardent supporter of Israel who has visited the apartheid state repeatedly on paid junkets, was made a peer by the Johnson Tory government after campaigning, along with other Labour Israel fanatics who campaigned against the party under Corbyn. He was appointed as the Tories’ ‘adviser on political violence’ and has been left in the job by the incoming Starmer regime. He has already attempted to have groups such as Palestine Action proscribed and targeted supposed ‘far left’ groups like Black Lives Matter and Extinction Rebellion for investigation.

Campaigners told Skwawkbox that they believe that, rather than address the concerns of anti-genocide campaigners – which would require a change of course over the support of successive UK governments for Israel’s war crimes – the Establishment plans to criminalise independents and use this as an excuse for exploiting Starmer’s huge unearned parliamentary majority to force ‘recall petitions’ to remove the independents as MPs and to proscribe campaigns that attempt to hold right-wing MPs to account.

The Labour right already has form for this, targeting Muslim woman MP Apsana Begum for prosecution over fictitious housing fraud – happily the attempt was thrown out by a court. Liverpool’s then-mayor Joe Anderson was also removed as mayor after being arrested over alleged fraud and bribery – then quietly de-arrested and the investigation dropped once the coup had been completed.

The right may also be planning to make allegations to an Election Court in the hope of disqualifying the independent MPs and rerun the elections.

Yvette Cooper and Dan Jarvis, like half of Keir Starmer’s Cabinet including Starmer himself, have accepted donations from pro-Israel lobbyists. Starmer, a ‘long-time servant of the British security state, has reportedly told the Israeli regime, via Foreign Secretary David Lammy, that the UK will try to prevent the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants for Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes.

  1. I think anyone even under suspicion of sexual harassment/offence claims shouldn’t be allowed to hold a (unelected) position of influence – especially within politics – until they’ve been cleared unequivocally.

    What says YOU, Mizz balls?

  2. The odious, no integrity Woodcock passing comment and accusing others of fantasy acts.
Admittedly it never occurred to me this investigation by the home office into allegations could lead to a recall. What did occur to me was how obvious the plan was into an attempt to have the independent MPs arrested/charged. Which could then force by-elections where Labour candidates lost out to independents.

  3. Yesterday’s MS editorial and Skwawkies report here. they’re proof-positive that the Labour party under Starmer is rotten to its core.

It asked, “Will MPs follow Corbyn’s democratic example or Lord Walney’s politics of fear? https://morningstaronline.co.uk/article/will-mps-follow-corbyns-democratic-example-or-lord-walneys-politics-fear

Ennobled John Woodcock is asking Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to launch a probe which will no doubt allow him to recommend yet more measures to INSULATE centrist politicians from contact with ordinary people for whom Labour’s support of Israeli genocide in Gaza and occupied West Bank is wrong.

Labour is newly rotten-to-the-core and yesterday’s visit by its Foreign Sec to an Israeli Valhalla-type location where he promised deeper and closer relations between Britain and apartheid Israel tells us all we need to know about this wretched Government that received only 20.1% of all available votes on 4th July 2024.

  4. Here’s a two-month-old article on the matter from Prospect magazine:

    https://www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/66431/lord-walney-john-woodcock-political-protest-alan-rusbridger

“The long and short of it is that Woodcock hasn’t got much time for protest. He spills a small amount of ink nodding at the values of free speech and dissent—well, you have to, don’t you? But, by and large, he thinks we’d be better off if the Just Stop Oil virtue signallers and the Gaza mob packed up their paint cans and tents and went home.

But how to make that happen? Woodcock suggests that we should broadly start treating what he regards as the more “extreme” causes as equivalent to terror groups. He singles out the five movements (or, in his term, “Far Left subcultures”) about which we should be most concerned: environmental campaigns; anti-racism; anti-government protest; anti-Israel activism and anti-fascism.

Woodcock wants to go after their money. If they hold large demos which require policing, the demonstrators should pay for the police. If their demos cause you inconvenience, you should be able to sue them. Governments and MPs should refuse to engage with them. Ways should be found to discourage juries from acquitting them.

He endorses a new idea of “cumulative disruption”: the more you protest, the tougher the cops can get in banning marches or demonstrations. Blocking a road is, in Woodcock’s view, “an unacceptable use of force”, as is storming a council chamber.”

Though one aspect of the article has not aged well:

“It seems unlikely that a Labour government will summon Woodcock for advice on anything in the near future, and it’s to be hoped Keir Starmer resists Woodcock’s suggestion that his role is made permanent.”

That the Junta headed by Herr Starmer has chosen to keep political thugs like Woodcock in his role demonstrates to verify the repeated warnings that Starmer’s authoritarian and dictatorial purging of any dissent from within the Labour Party will certainly be extended to the rest of British society.

Deviation from The Official Narrative (TON) is starting from the baseline of defining any effective dissent as “extremism”. Which, on the present trajectory, is most certainly going to morph into the more concrete definition of “terrorism” in a vainglorious and desperate attempt to maintain a rapidly systemically collapsing Western paradigm.

  5. They think they are in charge and therefore immune from prosecution, when in reality those who will pursue them to the ends of the earth are grateful they now have evidence of their complicity in government
Our Democracy is a complete charade, the good news is the fight back has begun

  6. Meanwhile, the Knesset today passed a resolution against any Palestinian State:

    https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2024-07-18/ty-article/knesset-passes-resolution-against-establishment-of-palestinian-state/00000190-c2c6-d13a-ad92-caffa4b90000

“Israel’s parliament voted on Thursday to affirm its opposition to the establishment of a Palestinian state. The declarative proposal garnered support from 68 Knesset members, including those from Benny Gantz’s centrist National Unity Party. Nine Knesset members from Arab parties opposed the proposal, and members of the Labor Party abstained from voting”.

On previous form, it surely will not be long before the UK Labour Party under the self-confessed WEF Globalist, former Trilateral Commission stooge, and avowed Zionist Herr Starmer endorses such opposition to the very idea of a Palestinian State to fall into line with this policy. Particularly given Starmer’s former Mossad Minder at the heart of the Labour Party bureacracy.

In the event of such a likelihood, it will certainly become clearer who it was actually won the UK General Election.

Perhaps this sites (alleged) Caribbean’s answer to Lord Haw Haw will grace us with another of his fantastical excuses? Though, given his very understandable reticence of late – as the Starmer led entity consistently aligns with the predictions of the reality based community of critics rather than Billy’s own desperate wishful musings – perhaps we will be spared the ignorance of the terminally gullible?

  7. United Nations Court: Israel Is Occupying Palestinian Territories Illegally
The United Nations’ top court on Friday said Israel is illegally occupying the Palestinian regions it has controlled since 1967 and must end its presence in them — a landmark statement that boosts momentum for a change in Israeli policy.
The court found that Israel is committing major violations of international law, including “de facto annexation” of occupied land and breaking the global prohibition against racial discrimination and apartheid. It concluded that Israel should take steps like making reparations to affected Palestinians and evacuating settlers.

    1. Again!

How many times is that, Billy?

Lets have a look shall we.

Here is UN News on 20th October 2022 telling us that the UN Rights Commission has reported that Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory is illegal:

      https://news.un.org/en/story/2022/10/1129722

“Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory is unlawful under international law due to its permanence and the Israeli government’s de facto annexation policies, a UN-appointed Commission of Inquiry said in its first report, published on Thursday. “

      ………

    2. …..and here is UN News again on 23 December 2016:

      https://press.un.org/en/2016/sc12657.doc.htm

“14 Delegations in Favour of Resolution 2334 (2016) as United States Abstains
The Security Council reaffirmed this afternoon that Israel’s establishment of settlements in Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, had no legal validity, constituting a flagrant violation under international law and a major obstacle to the vision of two States living side-by-side in peace and security, within internationally recognized borders.
Adopting resolution 2334 (2016) by 14 votes, with the United States abstaining, the Council reiterated its demand that Israel immediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.  It underlined that it would not recognize any changes to the 4 June 1967 lines, including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the two sides through negotiations.”
      ……….

    3. ………..digging further back the UN Security Council passed Resolution 465 on 1st March 1980 on the same issue:

      http://unscr.com/en/resolutions/465

And doubtless further research may well reveal similar UN Reports, Resolutions, and Statements going even further back than forty years…….

    4. ………as Wikipedia notes…..

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_the_Israeli_occupation_of_Palestine

……”The legality of the Israeli occupation of Palestine, which has continued since 1967 and is the longest military occupation in modern history,[1] is a subject that has received much less attention than violations of international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law (IHRL) that have occurred during the occupation.[2][3][4] Multiple United Nations General Assembly resolutions have described the continuing occupation as illegal. “

One wonders why it is , Billy, that yet another “landmark statement that boosts momentum for a change in Israeli policy” following decades of similar “landmark statements, resolutions, reports et al is going to fare any better?

      …………………..

      1. Billy – And I am quite happy, on the basis of your past record of disingenuousness, for others to judge for themselves your claim that you “have simply reported the news.”

    5. …..perhaps a clue can be found here for the terminally gullible like yourself, Billy:

      https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/5/19/a-history-of-the-us-blocking-un-resolutions-against-israel

“The United States has vetoed dozens of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions critical of Israel, including at least 53 since 1972, according to UN data.”

However, we are all ears to learn of the reasons you believe this latest “landmark statement” is going to turn out any different from all the previous “landmark statements”.
The floors yours Billy. Though no one is holding their breath.

      1. And I have simply reported the context of that news.

      2. Dave – “And I have simply reported the context of that news.”

Really? I’m quite happy for others to judge that for themselves.

      3. Billy – And I am quite happy, on the basis of your past record of disingenuousness, for others to judge for themselves your claim that you “have simply reported the news.”

      4. Nice try Billy,

The term “claim” is made in regard to your statement, which implies that your only motivation was in posting news – not the content of that news.

This should not require a Janet and John explanation and, once again, I am quite happy for others to judge for themselves your attempt to be deliberately obtuse in order to once again disingenuously obscure the issue.

      5. Dave – I’m quite happy to stick with the evidence above whilst you’re playing your Mystic Meg nonsense.

      6. Billy – And what actual evidence – other than your own claim – have you offered that your motivation was simply to post a news report?

A news report with no context, which others have had to provide for the sake of balance.

Pull the other kid, it hath got bells on.

    1. ………and yet despite knowing that he would face considerable push-back from the Israeli lobby our new PM has recognised the value of the aid work carried out by UNRWA and done the right thing.
