Video: Reeves keeps grinning as she signals more cuts and privatisation. She has form…

New Chancellor finds the idea of stopping people getting ripped off and being made poorer amusing, apparently

Rachel Reeves couldn’t stop grinning as she signalled her intention to impose billions in cuts that will inflict deeper misery on millions of struggling people by telling the BBC ‘there’s not much money left’ – a chilling echo of the starting lie on which the Tories built fourteen years of crippling austerity that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives:

Labour has not even bothered to conduct an impact assessment of how its spending plans will hurt huge numbers of our most vulnerable people and Keir Starmer has already said he will not lift the cruel ‘two-child cap’ on benefits that pushes a million children deeper into poverty and costs far more to keep than to abolish.

A 2018 study found that almost half of disability benefit claimants had attempted suicide. Arch-Blairite new DWP Secretary Liz Kendall has spoken of forcing more and more people into work and Reeves has said people with long-term illnesses will be considered prime targets for measures to make them work.

  1. Those who with their hopes, CHOOSE to blind and BLOCK their ears to the OBVIOUS will feel

    1. Excepting, of course, those parasites who (allegedly) live thousands of miles away and who do not have to suffer from the consequences they seek to impose on others just so they can say “their team won.”

  2. Until we focus on the BASICS, until we CEASE assuming that the likes of Reeves, Bliar & Starmer have aims aligned with ours, AND, until we realise that WE must be in government to implement our policies ourselves instead of hoping we can threaten parasites to do as we hope or “CONVERT” OBVIOUS status quo merchants to act contrary to their toxic perverse nature, until then we will be condemned by ourselves to chronic victimhood.

WORSE yet, we let down those who most need change.

  3. The best we can take from Thursday’s result is at least Corbyn held on to his seat and the loathsome Jonathan Reynolds got the bum’s rush. Shame to see the continued survival of dregs like Liz “4%” Kendall & Wes Streeting, but their time will come, though how Galloway managed to lose a seat he only won a few months ago, one can only speculate…

    1. the loathsome Jonathan Reynolds got the bum’s rush.

Ashworth. The fat-tongued meff. He can spend his time drinking with his tory mates now.

Reynolds is the unshaven scruffy meff that was gonna revolutionize the welfare state…by changing the name of universal credit. And knobhead people re-elected him, unfortunately.

As for reeves grinning when announcing cuts, this is the harridan that would hand you a cyanide pill with the same inane grin as it’d have helping an OAP cross the road.

And there’ll be a lot more of that grinning to come. It’ll be looking ironed-on it’s grid, just like that patel.

How long until we get people on the telly like that soft cow on question time who complained she voted for the rags and found herself in her predicament?

      Memo to smarmerite labour voters.

You voted for it. Don’t start complaining once you’ve clocked that this lot are exactly the same as the last.

      1. Of course, I meant Ashworth! Thanks, Toffee. Soz everyone, where the hell did I get Reynolds from?! These senior moments are getting disconcertingly frequent these days. D’oh!

      2. Ah, reading a bit further on you set me straight on the confusion with Reynolds. Ta.

      3. Nae worries Tim, it’s completely forgiveable and totally understandable. I’m (sort of) content that there’s the knowledge of ashworth being so utterly shite that you couldnt tell the difference betwixt him and another useless gawp in Reynolds.

Remember how we laughed when jakey rees-smog (oh! The mouthpiece phillips WILL be gutted her bezzies been binned, pity she weren’t ) said he wouldn’t run for the toerag leadership because he believed there was ” a plethora of talent”

        And he weren’t joking.

Although compared to this current cabal of cretinalia, perhaps he had a point. 😕

    1. It is unfortunate that Galloway lost as it would have been fun to see Kinnock’s reaction.

At least Galloway cares about certain causes unlike Kinnock who is totally awful.

Fun to see Mandelson talking about the re-election of Corbyn.

  4. Many of us feel empty inside with the election of Right Wing Lightweight Labour and Labour were lucky-people hated the Tories and the Tories lost the election.
Labour did not win on IDEAS; Corbyn & his supporters IDEAS got 12.8m in 2017 (despite Right Wing Labour sabotage) whilst Starmer got a petty 9.6m in 2024 which is what Miliband & Reeves got in 2015.
Security State Starmer also had the UK Establishment & Billionaire media backing him and Reform split the Right Wing vote which probably won’t happen again.
So all those politically homeless Corbyn supporters and those for Palestine (often the same) need to start organising soon as Andrew Feinstein said as a new party-perhaps around the 5 new Independent Left MPs plus we need Jeremy Corbyn in the mix as he gives us brand recognition which sadly some of the Independents didn’t have.
Neo-Liberal Capitalist 2nd X1 Labour offer Continuity Neo-Liberal Capitalism with Reeves seeing through billions for Black Rock to get contracts to run future public services.
So Starmer & Reeves (The Bosses Comrades) are aiding the Luxurious Upper Class Welfare State whilst attacking our meagre, stigmatised working class one.
    Don’t Mourn, Organise Now!

  5. In the least significant election of my life time there were nonetheless some upsides. The disparity between votes and seats is indefensible and can only raise the issue of voting reform. The Greens and independents gaining seats was a positive as was the ejection of some senior Tories. I think it is over-egging it to cast the result as worse than Corbyn’s – the number of votes is contingent on both turnout and the viability of other candidates – it was a poor turnout (because what is likely to change) and Reform had a real surge (getting more votes though markedly not as many seats as the Lib Dem’s). The 2019 result was poor for Labour both in terms of vote share and seats – I’d have preferred Corbyn winning then than Starmer now but that ship sailed. Push for PR and get a meaningful vote.

  6. The Fuhrer apparently celebrated the Lanslide with a curry washed down by half a dozen bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale
The following morning he had the most satisfying shit of any leader in the last 100 years
Now he is hoping to convince us all, he managed to wipe his arse clean with a single fag paper
    Methinks not

    1. Biden and Netanyahu face gaol once they are out of power
Trump is seeking revenge and the Biden has had his sticky fingers in the Ukrainian pie, therefore 000’s die to cover it up

  7. Terrifies me. I had a botched bowel cancer operation last November by an “associate” that labour pushes. Now from my wheelchair and oxygen tanks they want me to work and are laughing at me. My immigrant husband can’t claim carers allowance like other husbands and my council carers stole from my home. I actually ended up sympathising with the theif because shes a, single parent also suffering from these policies.
Labour dropped all disability pledges and its clear to see why. Aktion T4 camps next.

      1. Theres nothing i can do. Im claimimg against the NHS. We could ask the home office to allow carers allowance. Hes under NO RECOURSE TO OUBLUC FUNDS right now. At the moment I dont have the strength to fight them and dont want council carers after my last experience. ❤️🙏

  8. I was just checking out the actual result for Rochdale (I read somewhere that it was close) and clicked on a LabourList article that came up near the top of the results, and this is how it begins:

Labour’s Paul Waugh has won back Rochdale from independent former Labour MP George Galloway, who had snatched it from the party at a recent by-election.

    https://labourlist.org/2024/07/george-galloway-rochdale-general-election-results-2024/

Yep, George ‘snatched’ it you see, as opposed to winning it. Needless to say, it’s the sort of terminology one comes across in the right-wing propaganda rags. Talking of which, Caitlin Johnstone posted this excellent – as per usual – article three days ago:

    This Civilization Is Deeply Unnatural

There is nothing natural about this. The way things are. The way we are living. If this was the natural and healthy way for human society to exist, it wouldn’t require mountains of propaganda spin to keep it going.

  9. The New Popular Front wins in France
Described as the JC coalition, makes you think what is possible when your enemies enemy becomes your friend
We forget Labour policy is to support PR but Starmer on behalf of the Kleptocracy will not allow it, same goes for votes for 16 year olds
No matter, France proves what happens when the Fascists are at the door
The Fuhrer will get the Yanks to blow up the Channel Tunnel to stop it spreading
