Belgium commits to funding UNRWA and has previously called for sanctions against Israel. Israel bombs Belgium’s representatives and ‘completely destroys’ office
Belgium has summoned Israel’s ambassador to give account to Belgium’s prime minister after an Israeli bombing ‘completely destroyed’ the country’s official representative office in Gaza. Despite the attack happening last night – and being freely covered by Israeli papers – the UK’s ‘mainstream’ media appear to have completely ignored the crime and Belgium’s response:
Earlier this week, Belgium committed to continuing to provide funding to UNRWA, the vital UN agency providing desperately-needed aid to Gaza’s two million starving and suffering people. The UK, US and several other nations have cut off funding to UNRWA, despite what appears to be a complete lack of evidence, after Israel claimed twelve of UNRWA’s 13,000 employees participated in the 7 October raid. Israel has for decades wanted an end to the agency because it maintains Palestinians’ hopes of exercising their right of return to land and homes from which they were driven at gunpoint.
Last November, Belgium’s deputy prime minister also called for sanctions against Israel for its war crimes against Palestinians, including frequent and deliberate bombing of refugee camps, hospitals and schools.
Israel has been ordered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in a binding legal ruling, to stop and prevent the killing of Gaza’s people. If anything, it has accelerated the slaughter and continues to display its contempt for decency and international law.

I wonder if Israel plans to bomb the Spanish Office in Gaza next. After all Spain has officially announced that no only Spain is not cutting funds from UNWRA but actually is increasing the funding.
Good news from the US, a Court in Oakland California has concluded that it appears that their is sufficient evidence for a prima face case of collusion with genocide against Biden, Blinken and Austin.

However, the Federal Court was forced to dismiss the case because of its lack of jurisdiction on international matter of State, no because it lacked prima facie evidence of the crime of genocide being committed by procuring arms to Israel.
I wish for the PSC and other organisation such as the Good Law Project to follow the Californian example and take a case against the UK government for collusion with genocide to be heard on a British Court of Justice.

It’d be interesting to know, has the Representative Office of the United Kingdom in Gaza City, Palestine, managed to survive the IDF onslaught on Gaza? If no, did the Leader of the (non)Opposition send a congratulatory “well done” message to Benjamín Netanyahu?
I just did a search and the Guardian covered it, and did so initially a couple of days ago on a rolling news page (or whatever it’s called), which also included the following:
In Australia, New South Wales police say an independent analysis of audio and video files from a pro-Palestine protest at the Sydney Opera House last year found no evidence for claims that anyone had chanted “gas the Jews”.
People reported hearing the comments at the protest in October last year, and the reports are being investigated by Strike Force Mealing.
In a statement this morning, police said they would continue their investigation and urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. Police said:
Strike Force Mealing was established to investigate reported unlawful activity committed during an unauthorised protest at the Sydney Opera House on 9 October 2023.
Police received reports following the protest suggesting that an offensive antisemitic phrase was chanted during the event.
As a result of independent forensic analysis of audio-video files of the demonstration provided to investigators, police have no evidence that this phrase was used.
Police also obtained statements from several individuals who attended the protest indicating they heard the phrase however these statements have not attributed the phrase to any specific individual.
Similar claims have been made at one or more of the big London demos/marches, and I definitely read a claim that a woman was shouting ‘Kill the Jews’. What a coincidence, eh, and I think we can be 99.9% certain these claims are false, and made so as to demonise the marchers. And I wonder who would do THAT?

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) will be forced to shut down its operations across the region “by the end of February” if funding does not resume, the agency’s head has warned. More than 10 western countriesents including the US, UK and Germany have said they would suspend funding to UNRWA after Israel accused some of its workers of taking part in Hamas’s 7 October attack. The UN agency provides aid to more than 5.6 million Palestinian refugees across the Middle East.
