Video: Nandy dismisses condemnation of Israeli war crimes as ‘grandstanding’

Labour front-bencher refuses three times to admit Israel’s blockade of Gaza is illegal – independent MP Claudia Webbe shows how humanity is done

Labour front-bencher Lisa Nandy refused three times on Sunday to say that Israel’s blockade preventing food, water and medicines reaching Gazan civilians broke international law. The blockade is one of numerous Israeli war crimes, but Nandy would not say it is illegal – and on the third occasion even claimed that standing up for women, children and other vulnerable civilians in Gaza against a war crime would be ‘grandstanding’:

Israel’s violence in Gaza has killed around 5,000 civilians and maimed many thousands more – and has hit hospitals, schools and other civilian buildings. The blockade has forced medics to operate without electricity and without anaesthetic. Labour leader Keir Starmer and other front-benchers have supported Israel’s ‘right’ to impose the blockade.

In stark contrast to the Labour front-bencher, independent MP Claudia Webbe is among a handful who have shown what it looks like when politicians respond to war crimes like decent human beings:

Labour under Keir Starmer and his faction is a disgrace. The International Centre for Justice for Palestinians has said it will prosecute politicians who collude in Israeli war crimes, while the government is criminalising support for Palestinian human rights and freedom. Skwawkbox hopes the right people will be in the dock and soon.

  1. Starmer is a “Zionist without qualification” and until he realised the potential adverse electoral consequences talked about Israel’s right to withhold water and electricity to 2,300,000 Palestinian men women and children held under siege by Israel in a ghetto called Gaza. This is a true measure of the man.
    Lisa Nandy is in Keir Starmers shadow cabinet so if she values her career she has to uphold her “Zionist withour qualification” boss’s vile position. Her prevarication simply demonstrates that she is, beyond doubt, an unprincipled careerist but then most of us knew that already.

  2. Good for Claudia Webbe, solidarity!! I hope that Claudia stands for Leicester East as an independent. With a 33% Muslim population she stands very good chances of retaining the seat.
    Converserly, Nandy can lose her Wigan seat if traditional Labour voter decided to stay home rather than to vote for her.

  3. The forever bewildered Ms Nandy is highly irritating. Seems she is toeing the right wing line of starver and co without fail. She does not answer questions, merely repeats ad nauseam whatever she has been told to say. What a waste!

      1. Sounds like it’s about time Labour Friends of Palestine got rid of her.
        Her naked careerism obviously means more to her than any hope of support for the Palestinians.

      https://theintercept.com/2023/10/17/starbucks-suing-union-israel-palestine/

      “Starbucks is suing its union, Starbucks Workers United, after objecting to the group’s social media post in support of Palestine after the Hamas attack on Israel, according to an internal company note circulated Tuesday and obtained by The Intercept.”

      Apparently “The coffee company says the union, Starbucks Workers United, is making people think it stands in solidarity with Palestine after the Hamas attack.”

      Presumably Starbucks favours a public image which aligns itself with and supports the kind of War Crimes that resulted in people swinging from the end of a rope following the Nuremberg Trials?

      As, presumably, does Kid Starver Starmer (at least showing some consistency in that endeavour); Emily ‘Israel has the absolute right to commit War Crimes’ Thornbury; and now Lisa Nandy.

      Being an old git and having long run out of popcorn it might be worth learning how to knit – like the French 250 or so years back – in anticipation of the street theatre to come.

      https://organise.network/dashboard/petition-support-the-london-tube-driver–Yqd-X8w3?

      …..here’s a petition recently gone up highlighting the fact that a tube driver faces disciplinary action for the heinous ‘grandstanding’ crime of being in possession of human empathy.

      Don’t you just love Cancel Culture. (Are you listening at that the back there in the ‘Remove’ all those who have spent the last decade or so trying to get anyone sacked from their job; no platformed; de-monetised; outlawed etc for not toeing your Official Narrative?)

      https://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2023/10/22/713204/US-REPUBLICAN-HALEY–DEPARTMENT-OF-OFFENSE

      …..in addition for calling for the US Department of Defence to be renamed the Department of Offence (or in the pidgin English that passes for American “English” ‘Offense’ – which in this spelling has a totally different meaning) latest US candidate for Headcase of the Month Nicky Haley (fresh out of her humiliation last week at the UN Human rights Council) is also calling for, quote:”

      “stopping funding to colleges where its students and/or employees held pro-Palestinian rallies.”

      unquote.

      Still, at least she has not done a Justin Trudeau by calling for the ceasing of bank accounts for anyone not agreeing with The Official Narrative.

      At least not yet. On the present trajectory that cannot be too long before its enacted. After all, its only – what’s the correct term? – ah yes! “Shaking off the fleas” (Copyright Lee ‘Clownworld’ Harpin – but only as a result of the uncharacteristic modesty of some Labour Party aspiring nonentity. That’s aspiring to reach the stage of nonentity by the way rather than a general description of a stage not yet achieved).

    4. Just to summarise the state of play here:

      – Being in possession of a Palestinian flag is being treated as a criminal offence.

      – Removing an Israeli flag and replacing it with a Palestinian flag is being treated as some kind of ‘hate’ crime.

      – Displaying empathy towards those officially designated as “cockroaches” and not therefore human:

      – is a sackable offence;
      – will get you sued;
      – is grounds for with-holding funds, demonetising*, and
      outlawing**

      – Information is being officially and hypocritically manipulated to enforce a one sided narrative to enable War Crimes to be committed with impunity. Criticism, never mind opposition, is being steadily outlawed.

      * See here: https://theintercept.com/2023/04/24/israel-palestine-terrorism-zachor-afgj/

      ** To date the best the Kings Loyal Opposition can manage, not having any official power, is to expel its own volunteer members whilst call people names – such as “fleas”*** – and portray them as “Grandstanding.”

      *** Perhaps a prize can be instigated for the first individual or group to be designated with the promotion from “flea” to”cockroach” by the increasingly demented and deranged incompetents known as the Western Political and Media Class?

      We could even run a book on which politician, party, media outlet or sorry excuse for a “journalist” is the first to do so.

      1. Dave, what worries me is, with leaders of both main parties disavowing international law and the Geneva Convention, what sort of measures would they be prepared to inflict/”allow” to be used on the UK population? And will the media manage to dupe the public that it’s justified?

        Today everyone from Rishi Sunak to the BBC’s Verify unit (I shit you not) are peddling the lie that a mis-firing Palestinian rocket (AND NOT AN ISRAELI JDAM MISSILE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!) accidentally destroyed one of their own hospitals. This is a landmark moment for the future of objective reality. If this lie prevails, the gloves will well and truly be off.

      2. Don’t Panic Mr Mainwaring!

        https://www.axios.com/2023/10/20/biden-government-war-fears-israel-hamas

        Just picked up the above article from three days ago which featured in a recent Duran piece.

        “He explains the White House’s system overload like this: “There’s this gigantic funnel that sits over the table in the Situation Room. And all the problems in the world end up coming through that funnel to the same eight or 10 people. There’s a limit to the bandwidth those eight or 10 people can have.”

        And you can see the limitations of that bandwidth in the way in which the multiple crisis created by these numpties are framed here. Even within the extremely blinkered single sided subjective context in which the five crisis are framed in this piece there is clear panic behind the curtain.

        Eight to ten deranged people are competing with each other to increase the acceleration towards Armageddon and what this insider article is telling us is that no one knows how to stop them. There is no diplomacy. No break. No off ramp. Simply because you are dealing with people who are sociopaths and psychopaths who will not listen to anyone else or any other view. So intent they are on imposing their way of doing things onto the rest of humanity.

        The most efficient, effective and efficacious way to prevent what’s coming is to line every single one of them and their underlings against a wall ASAP, with their cheerleaders and hangers on to follow.

        ‘Who will rid us of these turbulent neo-cons?’

    5. That is,what Springer and co have always done, right wing politics throughout. I remember that well. Die Bildzeitung, his daily sad excuse of a paper, when compared to the scum would still lag behind hopelessly.

  4. Interesting choice of word from Ms Nandy… “Grandstanding”… Grandstanding is when an immoral person supports a moral cause because they want to hide their immorality. In other words, Ms Nandy admits that the moral option is to denounce Israel’s actions.

  5. Starting to miss you Goldbach. Hope you’re okay.

    Kudos Webbe.
