Exclusive: Labour expulsion letter proves Harpin libelled Audrey White (again)

Letter that seems intended to let Harpin off hook for yet another smear against left woman activist in fact puts him firmly on it

Libel-ridden right-wing hack Lee Harpin’s friends among the Labour right-wingers mis-running the party’s disciplinary units seemed to try to get him off yet another libel hook today when Labour sent Liverpool women’s rights activist Audrey White a letter notifying her that she had been expelled from the party.

Harpin had falsely claimed that White had been expelled before she humiliated Keir Starmer on camera when Labour’s ‘leader’ foolishly dared tried to use Liverpool for a ‘photo opp’, after a series of betrayals and attacks on Labour members in the city.

And in the expulsion letter that arrived today – five days after she was lauded for giving Starmer a dose of scrutiny and righteous indignation – tried to claim that she had been expelled since February, but that an ‘admin error’ meant that the party hadn’t got round to notifying her. The party continued to debit her for her membership subscription as it does with all suspended members, so it’s clear that she was only expelled today.

But the expulsion letter also proves that Ms White was thoroughly libelled yet again by the woeful hack, whose ‘litany of lies‘ against her have already cost his former employer, the right-wing Jewish Chronicle ‘substantial’ pay-outs and apologies – because in his tweet earlier this week, Harpin claimed that she had been ‘suspended over antisemitism claims‘ in 2020 and clearly implies that she was expelled for the same reason and implies she was therefore being dishonest when she told Starmer she was a party member:

But the expulsion letter doesn’t mention a word about antisemitism. Instead, it informs Audrey White that she has been expelled for supporting Socialist Appeal, a group she was perfectly entitled to support at the time she did it, but which the cowardly Labour right have retrospectively banned and support for which, when it was ok to do so, has retrospectively been made an expulsion offence:

And Ms White confirmed to Skwawkbox that her suspension letter from the party in late 2020 specified the same reasons, with no mention of antisemitism or even the weasel-worded ‘complaints of antisemitism’.

Harpin’s tweet falsely alleging antisemitism as the cause of the suspension and expulsion triggered a number of his right-wing fellow-travellers to put out their own abusive tweets toward Ms White and he has been crowing on his social media as if he has been vindicated, when in fact the letter does the opposite of what he seemed to think.

Lee Harpin’s ‘litany of lies‘ about Audrey White forced his then-employer, the Jewish Chronicle to pay significant compensation to Audrey White along with an unconditional apology for the smears it printed. Harpin now writes for the Jewish News, but published these tweets on his personal Twitter account.

Ms White told Skwawkbox that she has begun discussions with her lawyers. Other lawyers have offered pro bono support, while many grassroots left-wingers, outraged at the continued lies fired at the left in an arrogant presumption of impunity, have said that they will contribute to her legal costs if she proceeds with legal action.
