Oversight or message – or prank by co-workers?
Dr Paul Williams, Labour’s new and controversially-selected candidate in the Hartlepool by-election, apologised this week for an old tweet discussing preferences about Tory ‘MILFs’ – an acronym for ‘mothers I’d like to f***’.
But last night, Williams tweeted a picture of himself working in a COVID clinic – one that appeared to have a word spelled out in push-pins on a notice board behind him:
The pins appear – the last letter is less clear but they have certainly been taken by readers to do so – to spell out the same acronym for which Williams has just apologised, with three of the letters each done in separate colours to make them stand out:
Ill-advised joke by Williams, or a prank by co-workers that happened to be caught on camera and was missed before tweeting? Either way it’s not a great look.

He told the Saudi ambassador to the UK that the visit blew his mind of preconceptions. Dr Williams was pleased with what he witnessed. So pleased, he lavished the murderous regime with praise. “PROGRESSIVE”. He “met many PROGRESSIVE people”. Dr W’s lavish praise of a sordid regime was bought on the cheap. Eight Thousand plus pound freebee trip. £8,000 +. Starmer is OK with that, because he too is happy to take money from foreign entities.
That’s the company the Williams craves. That’s the company Starmer keeps. That’s the depth of ethical standards SIR Starmer is happy to encourage, endorse and impose on the good people of Hartlepool. The good people must tell SIR Starmer & Evans where to stick their Williams.

It was on purpose and it is shitposting. It’s ambiguous enough (could be MILK) to offer deniability, but he knew the left would share it on Twitter with outrage.
It would have the double effect of discrediting the left (anyone not knowing about the tweets from 10 years ago would wonder what the heck it’s all about sincevitvcould well be MILK, painting us like a bunch of snowflakes) and at the same time sharing the tweet of him on the Covid frontline, literally saving lives.

Also I see the Great Feminists of the Right – Cooper Harman and Phillips- have raised no objection to this man being our PPC for Hartlepool. I assume that his right wing credentials outweigh his disrespect and clear contempt for women which his tweet exposed. This has happened with other right wingers in the past e.g. the late Jo Cox’s husband who Phillips rushed to defend and who she called a “friend” despite his inappropriate behaviour towards women which cost him his job and the likes of John Woodcock who resigned from the party an investigation into sexual harassment. Their hypocrisy is mind boggling but then what’s new?

I believe that despite Williams been a medical doctor the good people of Hartlepool are going to chose to keeping him working for them as a Dr in the NHS rather than as a Labour MP in Westminster.
It isn’t like having Williams elected to Parliament as a Labour MP is going to make any difference to their daily lives, isn’t it?

The secretary’s email was not leaked to Guido. They only got it second hand after it had been leaked by Sebastian Payne, of the FT. And thereby possibly hangs a tale. Maybe its a reference to the choice of candidate Joseph – after all you can’t get much lower than a man who tweets MILF about somebody’s mother. Absolutely disgusting – he is a stain on our party and the medical profession .
