Beware fake leadership accounts set up to divide the left

Rash of seemingly-fake social media accounts putting names into ring before any have decided to stand

Labour supporters need to be aware that a number of apparently fake social media accounts have been set up claiming to represent leadership bids by Labour MPs.

No MPs have declared a bid and the accounts appear to have been set up purely to mislead and divide Labour supporters.

When any MPs declare an intention to stand for the party’s leadership, details will be available on the SKWAWKBOX. Don’t be fooled by fake accounts.

The SKWAWKBOX needs your support. This blog is provided free of charge but depends on the generosity of its readers to be viable. 1. Do not falter comrades, these are precisely the excellent conditions in which the radical left flourish,

    1. I’v often thought of this, that Jeremy rescued a Labour wreck. Tried search for the declining membership throughout Blair, Brown, Milliband, then Jeremy’s building the party to be largest in Western Europe. Blair oversaw decline. Scottish Labour was reduced to one, BEFORE Jeremy. A failure of “pro” Jeremy MPs and Jeremy to emphasise that repeatedly, left a space for negative images to grow. No slur nor negative tag was defended robustly and repeatedly. Emphasis repetition, eg “Get Brexit Done”. When we are sick of it, many are just hearing it. Even successful professionals who consult widely to do what they do, only check BBC for news. Where they get blatant bias as on 5Live for the last hour or two before 23:59. Each time guest present the familiar evidence of Boris Johnson’s racism. the presenter rushes to his defence ➕ saying that BJ not here to defend himself. Yet he was happy AGAIN to have one of the panel call JC AS. Quite blatant. When woman pressed the case, presenter said they need to cool things l, so got fellow with guitar to sing “Ain’t no sunshine when she is gone” IN TRIBUTE TO SWINSON DEFEAT.⛔️ No association of Swinson with failure. But repetition of negatives re JC. UNFORGIVABLE PROPAGANDA.

No mention of Chukkup Ummuna, Berger, Soubery, Smeeth, Gymah, and all the other ship jumpers losing their seats. So if they were “alternative” “leaders” and so brilliant, WHY DID THEY LOSE THEIR SEATS❓

No mention yet of fact Dianne Abbott got TREMENDOUS 30,000+ votes 70% and Corbyn got similar numbers. Are those 60,000 + voters all A S? Is Putney so full of A S ?

If Blair & Co’s winning ways were true, with all their £MILLIONS ➕ MSM fawning over them, then why did all their pets Chukks lose❓ Propaganda is effective and we must counter act that fact. ZEN approach is TOTALLY inappropriate. Zen approach is inappropriate. Zen approach is not appropriate. Repeat 🔁 🔁 🔁

      1. Re: ” Zen approach is not appropriate”, In this circumstance, it was totally appropriate. Had Corbyn charged about, sacking those who neeeded to be sacked, (so-called ‘Centrists’) like a bull in a chinashop, the Labour boat would have sunk, ‘all hands’.

Had he personally resisted the totally fake ‘anti-semitsm’, charges, which were being flung about by people who fully knew what they were doing – and which deliberately and unnecessarily harmed British and other Jews, who really have suffered far too much, his fine leadership would have been lost far earlier.

Instead, he played a waiting game, and watched as many of the destructive ‘Centrists’, left of their own accord, claiming airtime on Panorama, which was readily countered by the airtime those people had already received during the 4 episodes of ‘The Lobby’ (look it up, on You Tube).

Jeremy Corbyn is ‘a wise old bird’, who has met such people many times before.

The waiting game which he played, as the main positions within the upper echelons of the Labour Party were replacing with left leaning, actual socialists, was essential.. and his contrubution to the changes within Labour ,must not be downplayed.

That man, Jeremy Corbyn, has been the finest Labour Leader in my lifetime.. and hopefully will continue using his expertise to the great benefit of The Labour Party, for many years to come.

      2. We’ll see. Definitely. Jeremy’s contribution is tremendous. I joined because of him. Never dreamt i would join a political party. Got involved in my CLP because of him, though was very hesitant as the cabal of the incumbent are extremely rude snd aggressive. I’v read that they are on social media calling the manifesto “Trotskyist” and using the new get out “just banter”. My view is never be supine, never appease, and never be inconsistent where some are thrown under a bus and others not. “A price worth paying” alla Madeline Albright??? No thanks. It is being afraid of a hostile MSM that caused a decline from 2017. It encouraged them to go further, gain ground, intensify lies that many people believe and parrot. While we lose ground pushed into a tighter space. Jeremy’s allies picked off one by one. So official accountability, you put you mr view politely. I agree with the essence that Jeremy is an exceptional precious gem of a human being, but no gem is perfect. So i politely disagree with ever aspect, every last jot of appeasement. I see the same in my CLP. Now we ate stuck with an odious Jeremy saboteur on the back of the members. I say no. Johnson removed the whip even from Kenneth Clarke. All who jumped ship lost. He won a landslide. Their party is more together than it has probably ever been. We lost, the party is NOT “together”. The traitors are more traitorous than ever and the MSM is more or less hostile???

  2. The only ones I have heard may stand are kier Steiner and Jess Phillip’s. I can imagine a bunch of centrists putting themselves forward but as far as a left contender it’s a bit thin on the ground since Pidcock lost her seat. I like Raynor and Long Bailley but not sure they would maintain the left ward movement.

  3. In another thread earlier a number of posters were saying that Jeremy should sue one or more of the people who have called him an anti-semite, and I just posted the following response on there, albeit rather belatedly:

Regards Jeremy taking legal action etc, well in the FIRST place, the people who have accused him of being an antisemite aren’t stupid, and they wouldn’t say it unless they knew they could get away with it, OR, to put it the other way round, they WOULDN’T say it if they knew that Jeremy could sue them for slander/defamation.

Many people who follow skwawkbox will be aware that Tony Greenstein started legal action against the Campaign Against Antisemitism some time ago for calling him an anti-semite (for those that aren’t familiar with Tony, he is in fact Jewish, as his surname suggests), a ‘notorious anti-semite’ in fact, and it transpired that the judge in the case said that if THAT is their ‘honest opinion’, they are entitled to do so. It’s something to do with journalists being covered for alleging this or that (I’ll see if I can find exactly what it is at some point).

Ah, I just did a quick search and found it. This is what Tony said in his blog:

Their legal team, led by Adam Speker of 5RB, the same Chambers that today’s presiding Judge Mr Justice Nicklin belongs to, has fought desperately to be able to rely on section 3 (‘honest opinion’) rather than a section 2 (‘statement of fact’) of the Defamation Act 2013.

Section 3 is the old ‘fair comment’ common law defence that was usually used to protect journalists who wrote in good faith about a politician. It protected free speech. The 2013 Defamation Act put it on a statutory footing and called it ‘honest opinion’. In other words, even if you are lying through your teeth, as long as you believe your own lies then you are in the clear.

I have no doubt that Jeremy was advised a long time ago about this by LP lawyers, if he didn’t know already, which he probably did.

    1. I should just add that one thing I have come across on a number of occasions in the past few months is people saying in articles that Jeremy has refused to apologise for anti-semitism in the party, which is a falsehood of course, as he has apologised to the Jewish community on a number of occasions during the past three years or more, and the people saying that he HASN’T know it of course.

      But that’s fascists for you!

    2. On this one, I agree with you, Allan. It’s not even a case of inherent bias in the legal system – it’s just that trying establish *legal* clarity in situations like this is an expensive minefield. FFS – there isn’t even a proper legal definition of the term – before you even start contesting it.

  4. Seen a fake one for Angela Rayner, Although I think she would be a good leader, eventually, I think Jon Trickett with Ang at his side would be a good working combo. They both have socialist platforms and hold their own, plus they’re from good northern working class areas. Jon warned the PLP about ignoring the leave vote. Would either of them be up for it and what do others think ?

    1. its a good thought my concern is that who ever gets it if they are of the Left they will be subjected to the same terrible treatment Jeremy got over the last 4 years and I mean that treatment is from within our own red tory PLP MPs never mind the MSM and other trash.
So who would want that and who would be able to stand it like JC has without buckling under the strain ?
We now I believe need a whole team , the figure head leader but backed up by a utterly ruthless team of protectors , rebuttal experts and enforcers who will deal with the lies and undermining of the MSM and for that matter our own Blrities MPs or so called attached groups like the JLM and LFOI . Time to get the gloves off and fight for the survival of the Left in our party .

      1. Thank you for your reply rob.

Jon isn’t Jeremy, for all his humility, Jeremy was/is too nice too call out the liars and bad mouthers, I REALLY couldn’t see Jon being that laid back.

Absolutely agree, whoever becomes the next leader needs a good loyal team of attack dogs. As we’ve seen, social media outriders can only combat so much

      2. How many of our so-called ‘Centrist’ MPs have lost their seats or otherwise left the Party? Surely there must be a fair few, considering the losses this time? Has anyone added it up?

  5. ps re presenter saying Jeremy should sue, i need to check my notes. Presenter and Station known, need to find exact date, then will post. When something surprises, i note it. But tons of stuff! Maybe too many surprises😂😂😂
ps BBC 5 Live 00:27 someone just sent in msg asking “as Jeremy did well in 2016 and now 2019, then what’s changed?” Seems Quite clear to me was Brexit. End 00:29 paper reviewer woman actually trying to argue that Jeremy was not vilified more than other politicians. She said Blair got bad press also. Extraordinary …

  6. MSM now speaks with one voice…..from Sky TV/LBC; to Daily Mail; to Channel 4 & BBC………Socialism is the problem & the Labour Party has never won power with a Socialist agenda. Tony Blair showed the way……says David Blunkett & Ken Clarke. It wasn’t Brexit it was Socialism that made Michael Foot un-electable. The revolution will not be televised..

  7. We have five years, to build a People’s Newspaper, which will be well-funded and well received by the general public. Morning Star, sits well with left leaners.. Mirror’s OK.. but we need one which will also command a top place in the news-stands. Thoughts?

  8. Newspaper circulation has been declining for years, and will no doubt continue to do so. The Indy, for example – as I’m sure you know – stopped producing their hard-copy newspaper several years ago, and now only has its website. And they are all totally dependent on advertising revenue of course, the vast majority of which comes from the big companies and, as such, are most unlikely to help finance a left-wing Labour newspaper and/or website. I just don’t see it happening, whether it was a hard-copy newspaper AND a website, or just a website (and would the latter be behind a paywall or not?).

The ONLY way I could see it happening is if there was some multi-million millionaire who was willing to not only pump lots of money into it, but also get the people together to get it off the ground, but I very much doubt that THAT is ever going to happen. And even if it was only a Sunday newspaper – which is probably the most realistic proposition – it would still be very expensive to run and would only reach a limited number of people.

But Yes, it would of course be great to have even just one newspaper that reports the news and political and current affairs honestly and impartially, and I have no doubt that REAL journalists like Jonathan Cook and the medialens guys etc would be more than happy to contribute articles to it each and every week.
