Eight numbers reveal horrors Tories are inflicting on our children

Latest figures expose scale of appalling child poverty

A series of horrifying official figures makes clear just what is at stake in this general election: the very future of millions of our children.

Official UK Child Poverty figures to 2017/18:

4 million children live in poverty
210,000 children homeless
600,000 using foodbanks
120,000 have no winter coat
240,000 don’t celebrate birthday
360,000 cant afford fruit & veg
840,000 in fuel poverty
1,080,000 have no outdoor play area

The four million figure and all the others are likely to be severely understated, as child poverty has been inexorably rising under Tory government.

But just imagine: over 800,000 hungry children whose parents can’t afford to heat their home – with many not even having a winter coat to put on to keep warm in their house, let alone in the cold outside, nor able to eat a healthy meal to improve their strength and immunity.

Too hungry to study, without anywhere to play outdoors – and not even able to celebrate their birthday.

This general election is about many issues – but the future of a generation of the nation’s kids is at stake.

Vote Labour.

  1. Totally unacceptable and unnecessary!

Austin, Woodcock, Harris and the other Tory- helpers should be ashamed of themselves.

  2. As someone remarked : If you want to support ‘Children in Need’ effectively – Vote Labour!

    Trouble is, millions don’t.

  3. “This general election is about many issues – but the future of a generation of the nation’s kids is at stake.”

And the generations that follow them. Poverty is inherited, just like wealth.

  4. We shall be shoving the kids up chimneys again if piffel Johnson gets in….Child education for the peasentry and starvation for our kids.Whatever happened to a moral compass and decency…

    1. Moral compass and decency are not attributes held by Johnson and any of the Tory front bench.

  5. With the amount of times I’ve seen Johnson hanging around with children in schools, I’d say that was another horror.
