Manchester MP jokes move is so important that she’s happy anyway
Labour will base a new treasury unit in Liverpool if elected to government – and even Manchester MPs are welcoming it.
The party has announced plans to ‘shift the political centre of gravity’ to the north by moving a large part of the Treasury to a new northern location – and Liverpool will be its new home.
Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell quipped that he wanted it located as close to Anfield, the home of Liverpool FC, as possible. Manchester MP Lucy Powell joked that the move is so important that she’d even welcome it being built in Liverpool, in spite of the famous rivalry between the two cities.
Labour’s plans represent a genuine commitment to northern communities to ensure their interests are well represented in government decisions.

John Woodcock just reported as agreeing with Ian Austin. The “Labour” London Mayor, said this morning on LBC 97.3 that he agrees with Ian Austin. When will the London LABOUR mayor be suspended, investigated and expelled for endorsing the views of IAN AUSTIN, that “Jeremy is unfit to lead this country” AND, that they should vote Tory. ie Ian Austin feels the Johnson is “fit to lead this country”.
So our London LABOUR mayor agrees with an ex Labour MP now employed by the Tories. When will the London Mayor be deselected?
The next internal push to oust Corbyn has begun earlier than I expected.
And we’re all just quaking in our boots, aren’t we? 😭

Khan is and always has been a Blairite.
Very few Labour mps even blairites in an election would come out with that comment,theyre not stupid and why would they wish to attack theyre own party?An attack like that by Khan shows how dangerous the traitor is.An attack at this time is an attack upon the leader,the membership and the PLP he’s out of control and needs to be dealt with and thats the problem NEC?
I haven’t found any reference to Khan endorsing what Austin said. Can someone give a link?
RH, In the LBC Sadiq Khan did not endorse what Ian Austin said about voting Tory. He said he agreed with Austin about the party being too slow in its response to antisemitism complaints but disagreed with him about not voting for Labour. He clearly fully supported Labour and also refuted suggestions that Tom Watson left for anything other then personal reasons.

Meanwhile, Austin, the Tory/Israel shill is getting more airtime than he deserves also on Channel 4 News. But at least Jon Snow made him look the twat that he is – a turd floating around on the scum of the election pond.

An experienced and acute observer of politics just highlighted the following re Ian Austin: “He is best known for heckling Jeremy Corbyn while Jeremy Corbyn was delivering the official Labour response to the Chilcot Report on the illegal invasion of Iraq, shouting “Sit down and shut up” and “You stupid disgrace” at Corbyn for criticising the war.”
That is the sort of person whom Khan supports. Do you?
Ps, The clip that LBC played was of Khan saying he agrees with Austin. Just as when McD gave the interview to AC, it is known that the MSM will clip and put on loop. So an experienced politician fully expects that.
Further, Khan is VERY cleaved to my MP who is an open and frequent slanderer of Jeremy. In fact there have been letters of complaint to the NEC about his conduct. Too much to go into here but City Hall is in my CLP… may need to double check the boundaries but the mayor is ALWAYS “around” very “active” in all doings here. What was extracted from the full interview by LBC, was in my opinion based on his familiar form, expected and deliberate. He could have refrained from comment knowing Austin’s open attacks on Corbyn. Even Ian Dale just read out another of Austin’s Corbyn attacking long quotes. Check 21:30-22:00 LBC97.3. And if you tune in from 23:00 you will here LBC devote at least another hour to Austin telling voters to vote for Johnson.

He regards himself as being of one purpose with Twatson & Austin. Moreover, in the extended LBC chat, he seems sure of Twatson’s & Austin’s thoughts, feelings and their future noises and actions.
In communication, subtext is often the potent “gas” of the message. Sometimes subtle, other times more brazen, and at other times, unsuspectingly toxic… politically lethal… like carbon monoxide… the silent killer. To mix metaphors, were it not so, the unsuspectingly toxic power of subtext, we may not recognise the term “Dog Whistle Politics”.
So, very many may dismiss Khan, as only a woefully incompetent mayor. I however assess him as being quite satisfactory at basic subtext.
That clarifies. He’s obviously looking to woo the knee-jerk zionist vote in London by endorsing myths and lies.
Not a good look – there are limits to what someone with integrity should do to curry favour.
