Sky, BBC, ITV all refused tonight to tell millions Johnson booed out of hospital. Here are rules they must follow in GE

Video footage of Boris Johnson fleeing Addenbrooke’s hospital has gone viral – but ignored by ‘mainstream’ broadcasters. Ofcom rules will demand change
Boris Johnson’s flight – ignored by ‘mainstream’ media

Earlier today, Boris Johnson’s cynical ‘PR stunt’ at Addenbrooke’s hospital backfired massively as he fled the hospital to jeers and boos from assembled NHS staff and patients:

A young medical student bravely told how she was pushed out of the way as she tried to question Johnson – and called him a coward.

But while so-called ‘mainstream’ broadcasters reported the visit – and showed Johnson in an NHS white coat spouting his canned and banal soundbites – they have entirely refused to inform viewers about the far more real and significant events above, as a search for reports of those events shows:

A web search shows only small local press reports of Johnson’s shame

The refusal to inform the public is a disgrace. But as soon as Parliament is dissolved and the official election campaign begins, broadcasters will be legally obliged to follow regulator Ofcom’s rules about the reporting of election campaigns:

How well they actually fulfil their obligations remains to be seen. But past performance and recent history suggest that, as usual, conveying the truth to the people will be left to the independent media and Labour’s mass grassroots support.

  1. The worry is that they may have l learned from the last election fiasco and overkill can rebound and can turn Corbyn into the working class hero/martyr..It was obvious bias last time and it will work against Johnson if the reporting is quite so crude again. The absence of reporting will not breach any election rules and will be part of the plan to isolate Corbyn and the Labour party message.
