5th defeat in a row for Johnson as MPs pass motion demanding release of proroguing/no-deal comms

Boris Johnson starts parliamentary career with five consecutive defeats as Gove tries to appeal to data protection to avoid loss

Boris Johnson has suffered a fifth consecutive Commons defeat – the first five votes of his tenure – with MPs voting in support of a Dominic Grieve motion demanding by a majority of nine that the government release all communications relating to a no-deal Brexit and Boris Johnson’s decision to prorogue Parliament.

No-deal minister Michael Gove appealed unsuccessfully to data protection requirements as an excuse for not releasing the information. WhatsApp messages are included in the demand.

311 MPs voted for the motion compared to 302 against.

  1. 311….to 302……..What a disgrace for a so called democracy…..that 302 wimps and surfs would bow to the dictator Johnson and the Queen using the uterrley undemocratic and archaic Royal prerogative to subvert democracy……never again…..We must have a true democracy before we are laughed out of europe and the world organisations we are affiliated to……Written constitution….Bill of rights…..Head of state PM and finally Abolition of all political interference by the Royal family and removal of the royal prerogative….And last but not least abolition of the House of Lords….and the inevitable death of the establishment gongs knighthood barons,Lady’s and all the other nonsense that as been used for oppression of the people, including the Removal of Religious participation in a true democracy! ……302 surfs and traitors dressed up as Party loyalty…..beggars belief in the 21st century?

    1. And in the Westminster League:
Barking Borisonians, nil — Corbyn United, six.
      Away win.
      Whitewash.
Anybody else drive his old man nuts getting him all confused doing the pools on a Saturday teatime in the ’50’s by guessing the away team’s score from the tone of the newsreader’s voice?

  2. The irony of Gove invoking the GDPR as a reason to vote against; has he forgotten that it was introduced because of an EU Directive?
