In spite of Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom’s statement to BBC News that rebel Tory MPs would be given another chance to back Boris Johnson tomorrow before the whip is withdrawn from them, Johnson has kicked out twenty-one MPs – every MP who voted against the government, including former Chancellor Philip Hammond and Churchill’s grandson Nicholas Soames.

His ‘majority’ in the Commons is now minus 43 – even if the DUP continues to back him.
