Rother Valley MP Kevin Barron to stand down at next election

Email to local members says serving has been ‘the honour of my life’ and thanks them for their support
Kevin Barron

Rother Valley Labour MP Kevin Barron has become the second to indicate that he will not stand again at the next general election, after the party asked MPs to confirm their intentions as the first phase of the new ‘trigger‘ process for MP selections.

Barron emailed local members today:

Poplar and Limehouse MP Jim Fitzpatrick made a similar announcement last week. Barron, from a strongly leave constituency, has consistently voted against attempts to force through a new Brexit referendum.

  1. “attempts to force through a new Brexit referendum”

I’ve seen better attempts at biasing language in the Groan – like ‘pregnancy’ as a mental affliction.

    ‘force through’???

… like Sqwakbox backs the attempts to ‘force through’ a Brexit unwanted by the majority of the electorate – let alone the majority of the Party??? – to the extent of declaring democracy ‘undemocratic’?

So Barron’s had enough. Fair enough – he won’t suffer from the chaos of the right’s Brexit – the pension’s better than most.

    1. The record’s stuck.
The same troll post (with minor variations), 36 times.

      1. ‘troll’ – Def. :a term mainly used by rattle-throwers lacking the capacity to argue coherently.

Now. The contradictory viewpoint your tiny mind was reaching for behind the blinkers is … err … what, exactly?

    2. Back on familiar ground I see RH.Your obsession is obviously a comfort blanket to you.

        Majority? Majority?

Yes the majority. Do you have any evidence to the contrary?

  2. The thing that Kevin Baron & Jim Fitzpatrick have in common is they are both past retirement age. It is not a surprise that they have decided to retire.

  3. I know nothing about him BUT good for him – not wanting a 2nd brexit ref. That’s a bloody positive!! Most of us don’t!!! I hope they don’t elect an anti democrat in his place!
