Excl: not just Corbyn – LOTO team volunteering at homeless centres

On Christmas Eve, the SKWAWKBOX exclusively revealed that Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn had made an unannounced visit to a north London centre run by Crisis, a charity that helps homeless people. Although the visit had been a closely-guarded secret, Corbyn was snapped by someone attending the centre on the same evening.

A couple of mainstream press outlets picked up the story – as usual without credit to the SKWAWKBOX – but unsurprisingly most ‘MSM’ have ignored it.

But the SKWAWKBOX can also exclusively reveal that Corbyn has not been the only one to roll up his sleeves and get involved at the sharp end of the homelessness epidemic this Christmas – a number of his LOTO (leader of the opposition) office staff have been quietly helping on their own time, too.

The SKWAWKBOX uncovered this fact during investigations into Corbyn’s visit – and it was confirmed by Crisis. A spokesperson told this blog:

Yes, some members of Jeremy Corbyn’s team are volunteering at our Christmas centres over the festive period – helping to provide homeless people with food, warmth, and access to vital services. We are grateful for their assistance and interest in homelessness. More than 10,000 volunteers have come together to volunteer with us over the Christmas period.

New research released by Crisis, more than 170,000 families are currently experiencing the “worst forms of homelessness“, including “people sleeping on our streets, sofa-surfing with strangers, living in hostels, and stuck in other dangerous situations“.

SKWAWKBOX comment:

The new revelations demonstrate that genuine, practical concern for homeless people is not limited to Labour’s leader but extends across his team. A Labour government is the best and perhaps only hope for improved situations for the huge numbers of people whose lives have been blighted by Tory policies.

  1. I’m happy to learn that but not at all surprised. Mr Corbyn has chosen some excellent people to work for him as his office staff, and spread the news of his vision of a socialist government.

  2. Any news yet about all those ERG members who spent their Christmas holidays helping out in homeless shelters.🤣
