Akehurst publicly signing up support for his NEC bid. Hasn’t gone well

la sig

Labour First’s Luke Akehurst has set up a page to garner support for his bid to regain a seat on Labour’s National Executive Committee (NEC) as part of a slate of right-wing candidates that supporters of the party’s leadership shouldn’t go near.

The page offers visitors the chance to sign up as supporters – but the decision to install a scrolling ‘slider’ of sign-ups was, shall we say, a bit ill advised.

Visitors clearly decided it would be a bit of fun to sign up with made-up names – some purely humorous, some bitterly barbed – as this video of the page in action and the source-code driving it shows:

The slider might be removed and doesn’t show up in archives of the page, but below is a selection of those that were showing in the page source when the SKWAWKBOX checked:

  • Gavin Williamson’s tarantula
  • Cock Womble
  • Ida Sooner Back-Mussolini
  • Damian Green’s ex-girlfriend
  • Those pesky kids
  • Oh Jeremy Corbyn
  • Scooby Doo
  • Scrappy Doo
  • Biggus Dickus
  • Skeletor
  • Fluke Flake-Wurst
  • Baron Munchausen
  • Biggie Smalls
  • The Robocop with the Screaming Skull from Robocop 2
  • Mullah Omar
  • Simon Danczuk
  • Abu Bakr al-baghdadi
  • Mother Akehurst
  • 9.6% swing
  • Stereotyped white guy

“9.6% swing” and “Those pesky kids” were personal favourites.

The SKWAWKBOX contacted Mr Akehurst about his page. He admitted that of the people signing,

The vast majority are clearly people having a laugh by signing up spoof names.

but declined to say how many had signed in total, saying only:

I don’t intend to while people are having their bit of fun with it.

The page can be found here for those interested enough to take a look, but the SKWAWKBOX strongly recommends all readers to vote for the full left slate in the contest, to ensure that Jeremy Corbyn continues to have the hard-won NEC support he needs to complete Labour’s re-emergence as not only a genuine alternative to Tory policies but the government-in-waiting.

  1. In the words of The Artist Formerly Known as ActiveArse…
    “Well, that was fun.”

( MUMSA VAGINGER in case you were wondering 🙂 )

    1. Looks like the fun might be over 🙁
There was this big red “REMOVE YOUR SUPPORT” button so what else could I do but play again?
CYSTERTIA VAJINJATU this time but now the scrolling’s stopped scrolling.
I think he’s sick of us.
      Oops, no, we’re off again.
I also think Maureen Lipman might be the only genuine supporter, the daft old biddy.

  2. Some years ago, under a previous editor, I was banned from commenting in ‘Labour List’. I attempted to warn about the dangers of Zionists having so much influence in the LP. I tried to point out that Socialism was at odds with Zionism and any Socialist who opposed it would be singled out for retribution. Guess what ……..

Mind you, even if you mentioned Socialism at that time, many in the LP would run a mile!

Out of curiosity I had a look recently at some of the comments on LL and ‘nothing’s changed’ it’s still full of Zionists and pseudo Socialists such as Luke Akehurst.

  3. Who is Luke Akehurst anyway??????????? Our CLP gave him a very wide berth……..

  4. “Luke Akehurst”, you belong in the past, not in the future, of a “SOCIALIST LABOUR PARTY”!
Now quietly, crawl back under your stone and don’t come out till your called!
    “THAT WOULD BE NEVER”!
