YouGov: Corbyn 5th most-admired British man; May 11th

corbyn statesman

YouGov has published its 2018 poll of the world’s most admired people. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn features at number five in the list of men most admired by UK residents, with Tory PM Theresa May at number eleven on the women’s list – on less than half Corbyn’s score and behind Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who comes tenth.

Given the relentless media smears against Corbyn this year, the result is remarkable – or perhaps not, since each attack underlines the Establishment’s consternation at Corbyn’s popularity and seems to enhance his stature.

  1. Well spotted, Steve! And how good to see Alan Sugar doesn’t even figure… 😉

  2. I think the attacks increase his support. It’s interesting he hasnt been attacked for criticising Israel using live ammunition against unarmed protesters, instead the pundits have ignored it. They are beginning to cotton on that many people admire his courage and principles.

  3. YouGov also says,

“The Prime Minister now holds a 10 point net favourability lead over the opposition leader.”

Like all pollsters they claim more accuracy and relevance than they ought.

  4. How in the name of satan’s portion is erdogan more popular than me?

Bloody fix, I tells ya :/

  5. Funny when I saw the great Tremeloes at a 60’s show a few months ago I thought of JC when they sang ‘Call Me Number One!”
Oh I understand a TV celeb has just tried his hand at poetry in attacking JC:

MR RIGHT BUSINESSONE HE DOTH SCRIBBLE.
    AND ‘POETRY’ IT POPPETH OUT.
SO THUS GIGGLES AN INFANT UPSTART.
WITH CRIES OF: “I COULD DO BETTER , NO DOUBT!”
SAID BUSINESS KING STEALETH OUR LABOUR.
OH FOR PETTY PROFIT HE IS INSPIRED.
SUCH BORES OF THE WORLD THEY DULL THE SKY.
OH WORKERS OF THE WORLD AWAKE THEN THEIR FIRED!

  6. Emily thornberry was on there. Duno about number but she was one above Madonna I think.

  7. He deserves 1st, a man of our time.
Someone for our children to look up to and be proud of.
We, the have nots, against the 1% who have it all!
A Prime Minister for the many not the few!

  8. So much for the likes of Mandelson and co. who spend half their time looking at pollsters and trying to appease Murdoch and Dacre.
    Richard Dennis.
