Shropshire candidates show May’s not only Tory in #GE17 meltdown (video)

Remarkable scenes in Telford last night at a General Elections hustings arranged by the local Trades Council.

Telford Tory candidate Lucy Allan is no stranger to controversy, having been at the centre of bullying accusations after a former employee released an aggressive voicemail Allan left for her when she was off sick – behaviour she later admitted was wrong and said she had learned from.

More recently, she was embarrassed when her Twitter account featured images of a ‘concerned resident’ and a Tory campaigner – and both were the same man.

Last night, she failed to turn up for the hustings and, according to scores of local people and the Telford Labour Twitter account, insisted that she had not been invited. But a leaked email suggested otherwise:

Even more bizarrely, her neighbouring Tory candidate, Mark Pritchard, did turn up – but walked out early after outraging his audience with astonishingly ignorant comments accusing Foodbank users of smoking and owning ’58” televisions”:

It’s becoming daily more apparent that Theresa May is not the only Tory in meltdown during their calamitous and incompetent General Election campaign.

Inderjeet Singh Nijhar, who has been with the Telford Labour Campaign Team, said,

The Tories locally are trashing and burning the reputation of the good people of Telford, with the threat of cuts to local hospital services and to local jobs with the terrible hard Brexit, in the hands of  Theresa May. It’s time for a local, experienced leader with integrity to replace the discredited Tory candidate Allan and Kuldip Sahota is the man.

Lucy Allan can hide from the people but they will have their say on June 8th voting for Corbyn’s Labour.

Neither candidate was today answering his/her office phone when the SKWAWKBOX attempted to reach them for comment.

  1. The Tories are in complete meltdown 6 days before a general election! It’s beautiful to see. An end to greed, hate and an end to all those self-interested spivs running this country into the dirt.

Make sure you know what your local Labour party are doing on election day and, if you can, please devote a few hours to canvass local Labour voters on the day. It is vital that we hammer the Tories by ensuring a high Labour turnout on the day.

Together we can turn this into a Labour landslide.

  2. They just don’t change do they?? I remember the same sort of comments from the Tories back in the 50s and 60s. They didn’t think that working class/disabled/ welfare beneficiaries should be allowed to own televisions, smoke or have any luxuries. They never enquired to find out why/how people could afford these luxuiries. They’re all the same.
