Video: Polanski ‘apologises’ to Starmer ‘on behalf of all immigrants’ after Starmer’s racist speech

‘I guess my ancestor didn’t realise when they came here that it was his fault you’d cut the winter fuel allowance’

Green party leadership candidate Zack Polanski has posted a satirical ‘apology’ to Keir Starmer ‘on behalf of all immigrants and descendants of immigrants’ who, like Polanski’s Jewish refugee ancestors, didn’t realise they were – in the word’s of Starmer’s recent racist speech – doing ‘incalculable’ damage to the UK in a ‘squalid’ chapter of its history:

Polanski’s combative approach and his willingness to take on the establishment narrative directly make him stand out among the three candidates (two standing jointly) to take over the Greens at a time when there is no meaningful difference between the red and blue Tory teams, and the LibDems are still the party who were happy in coalition with the Tories to support cuts for the poorest in return for a 5p tax on plastic carrier bags and tried to get back into coalition with the deranged Boris Johnson.

  1. Polanski is a shill, he joined in with the demonisation of Corbyn and anti Semitism. He applauded the book written by David Baddiel, and we all know how he worked against a Corbyn government. A leopard doesn’t change his spots. He left the Lib dems when he realised there would be an increase to the Greens cause as people turned away from labour and we ‘hated’ Tory rule that dominated for 14 years, and the Lib dems also worked with Jo Swinson to bring down any hope of a Corbyn government in 2019, that was her only remit. So he moved over to where the left would move, the Greens and they did. I didn’t I voted independent for the above reasons in last years GE. I voted Reform in the locals, simply because I wanted to break up the major parties, and I knew the candidate. Make of that what you will. I’m not a fascist but that is just another name the left call every one who may have a different view on things. The left need to sort themselves out. Galloway has the right take on things.

    1. He does indeed, Teresa.

The left has largely succumbed to the dumbing down of calm, open-minded debate to the point where most people can’t do it anymore, resorting instead to emotionally-based, knee-jerk denunciations of any opponents as “fascist”, “far/hard right”, etc. Going down that (essentially liberal) road ends up with calling them “deplorables” and nobody sane on the left wants to sound like Hillary Clinton!

    2. I was just trying to find an article or two in respect of what Teresa said about Zack Polanski criticising JC about antisemitism and, as such, came across the following article regards GP candidates being accused of antisemitism. The only thing I came across at the time – ie in the weeks prior to the GE – was the alledged CAA accusing a few Green Party candidates of A/S. Anyway, here’s an excerpt from it and, as I suspected – as with Jeremy and Ken and Jackie et al – the claims were fallacious and artificial, along with the routine faux outrage and condemnation that always accompanies them:

But the party has been battling claims of antisemitism since controversy erupted at the May local elections over statements by its councillor Mothin Ali, who won in a ward in Leeds.

On October 7, when Hamas launched a surprise offensive against Israel, involving the massacre of about 1,200 people, the vast majority of them civilians, Ali said that Palestinians had the right to “fight back”. He later apologised for the upset caused and said he did not support violence.

However, an analysis of prospective parliamentary candidates reveals others have made similar antisemitic comments appearing to justify October 7. On the day of the attacks Adam Pugh, the candidate for Deptford & Lewisham North, wrote on Twitter/X: “There is no peace without freedom. Resist”. He separately posted the image of a Palestinian flag, writing: “You don’t have to be neutral when it comes to apartheid, colonisation and genocide.”

Three days later Pugh complained about the BBC’s “gutter journalism” on the war in Gaza and said “they have a clear agenda to dehumanise Palestinians and paint Israel as the victims here”. On October 18, before the full-scale invasion of Gaza, he described the Israel Defence Forces as “genocidal maniacs”.

      Green antisemitism storm

I would imagine about 75%/80% of the country completely agree with them both by now!

  2. Greens are generally radical liberals though have been pretty good on Palestine + are decent on the environment.
Lab/Tories/Lib Dems/Reform are all the same – they rule for the rich whilst tossing us a few crumbs though an emotive issue like immigration is Reform’s meal ticket as they play working class people with exaggeration & distortion to feed them Red Meat to draw them in but fortunately Reform’s Achilles Heel is their class politics for the rich.
I forced myself to read Reform’s manifesto in the last general election and they want tax cuts for the rich, tax subsidies for private health & tax handouts for private education for the rich plus tax handouts for private health insurance.
Ironically 80% of Reform voters/would be voters want a wealth tax + public ownership of rail, Mail, water & energy which is NOT supported by Reform’s elite posh (mainly) ex public school boys.
As many a diverse working class grandparents will have said to us never vote for Right Wing shit!
We need a new Left Wing Democratic Socialist Party ideally built around Jeremy Corbyn and his name recognition, drawing on his 2017 manifesto though updating it for the 2030’s, and hopefully things are developing with this.
Then we can transform society for the benefit of the diverse working class & all + it will be an example to other countries.

  3. UK Immigration in 2024 was 650,000.
But is ridiculous we include the 350,000 international students in this oh & they enrich the student experience, bring millions to UK universities & local economies + when they return home they act as voluntary ambassadors promoting the UK.
    So omit this & 300,000.
Migrant workers bring £25b to the UK economy & are 20% of the UK workforce & they pay tax + contribute to society as they follow their dreams.
We should also be compassionate to refugees who are claiming asylum and they too want to work which would give them an income, they would contribute too & could then rent a place of their own.
Many migrants work in the NHS, Social Care, ICT, Hospitality & Transport/Storage plus many work in night shifts keeping society going as many of us sleep.
Migrant workers also come already educated & kept healthy by their societies + they even pay their own fares to get here so we get FREE WORKERS!
Oh & 2m British people are also following their dreams working in other countries around the world.
The Chief Medical Officer around 2018 in a talk on Health in 2030 said there would be a crisis in Europe & the UK “With not enough young people to care for the old.”
Age UK points out that 24,000 older people die each year from neglect.
So if we had a grown up discussion & thinking we would recognise we need migrant workers & with planning & the Democratic Control of Labour Supply this could benefit all.
Time for this counter narrative but the main parties seem to lack the bottle & political acumen for this.
    A Corbyn Govt would have.
