Reeves – the other one – tries to defend Labour’s far-right war on sick, disabled, children

It’s not often Skwawkbox praises Andrew Marr, the right-wing former BBC and now LBC presenter, but Marr did a good job this morning putting Ellie Reeves – Starmer front-bencher and sister of Chancellor Rachel ‘Freeze’ Reeves – on the spot over Labour’s more-Tory-than-the-Tories war on the poor and vulnerable.
Marr pointed out that hard-right former Tory minister Michael Gove said he would have resigned in disgust from Keir Starmer’s government in protest over Labour’s policies targeting poor children, pensioners, disabled people and those suffering long-term illness – and asked Reeves how it felt to be to the right of such a right-wing figure:
Reeves droned the usual nonsense, almost as drearily as her sister, about Labour’s assault being justified by the supposed need to get people into work – how that justifies freezing pensioners, starving poor children and their families and pushing the early killing of the mentally ill and those unable to work was not explained.
She also seemed content at the idea – although it seemed like a made-up stat and far too optimistic – that being in employment halves the chances of being in poverty, when in fact in a decent country it would remove the risk completely.
The red Tories are worse than the blues.

What an indictment of the system – employment only halves the risk of being in poverty. Many drivers of the shortfall including debt, housing costs, low paid jobs, inadequate in-work benefits… I might have said this before but we need a REVOLUTION
Christ, you mean there’s two of them?! Talks just like her moron sister. People like this are a good argument for eugenics and should be forcibly prevented from breeding!
Those of us approaching 80 can remember when there were just 300,000 unemployed, and there was still this right-wing nonsense about them claiming social security unfairly. Mind you in those days there were millions of stay-at-home mums looking after their children. Reeves (both jnr and snr) would be choking on their free coffee at such “laziness” of womenfolk.
gove would’ve resigned
If anybody’s having the most miniscule scintilla of that total gobshite’s complete bollocks, then please… just fuck RIGHT off, and remain fucked RIGHT off, forever and a fortnight.
I mean, who the fuck do these people think they are that they expect us to believe their shite doesn’t stink as much as the scumbag’s they’re trying to blame for the miasma they’ve all created?
The lot of them can burn. They’re all ‘kin ratsš
It is easy for Gove to say this now. He could just be out to exploit the situation. But he has been presented with a big target.
