Dr Mark Perlmutter describes how colleague was shot, blinded, forced to crawl 2 miles with infected wound – horrific violence and cruelty typical across Gaza
Jewish-American surgeon Dr Mark Perlmutter has described how a Palestinian orthopaedic nurse at Gaza’s Nasser hospital was shot in the knee for refusing to leave a patient during a vital surgical procedure and was then starved for forty-five days, blinded in one eye and then dumped at the side of the road and forced to crawl for almost two miles for help.
Despite Israeli forces knowing he was a nurse, with no connection to any resistance organisation:
Perlmutter, who specialises in disaster surgery and has described the occupation’s deliberate murder of Palestinian children and its torture and terror tactics against innocent medical staff, has himself been targeted with Israeli bombs after speaking out about the atrocities he has witnessed, when the Israeli military bombed the surgery department where he and other outspoken US volunteer medics were working.
He and his colleagues are still in Gaza, despite an Israeli threat to use a ‘new type of bomb’ on them if they did not immediately leave.
Israel is a rogue state and a terror state, built on racism from its foundations up and propped up by the racist and authoritarian governments of the US, UK and other criminally-colluding states.

I remember the time the Israeli state used to kidnap Nazis who did this from across the world, “try” them and then execute them. What happened?
Mmmm, in 1948 Albert Einstein (Hannah Arendt and many other prominent Jews) sent a letter to the New York Times condemning Zionists as Fascists. The letter was to protest against a visit to America by Menachem Begin. Einstein’s letter condemned Begin’s Herut (Freedom) party, likening it to “a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy, and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties.”
Even when Israel was founded in 1948, socialists like Albert Einstein (who refused to serve as Israel’s second President in 1952) recognised and rejected the aggressive nationalism, fierce anti-Palestinian violent zionism.
What happened? The right wing became the ‘norm’. American funding made sure it happened.
