Campaign of starvation sees new display of contempt for decency and international law as Israel declares UN aid organisation ‘terrorist’
The Israeli Knesset (parliament) has voted today to ban UN aid agency for Palestinians UNRWA from operating in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza – and has declared UNRWA a terror group, saying the ban will come into place within ninety days.
Israel has for years tried to discredit and bring down UNRWA, because it helps Palestinians survive close to their land. Israel has been exposed buying mass ads to discredit the humanitarian organisation, accused UNRWA operatives falsely of taking part in the 7 October 2023 ‘Hamas raid’ in which Israel killed hundreds of its own people, froze UNRWA accounts with Israeli banks, claimed falsely that terrorist cells were operating under UNRWA’s HQ – which it later bombed – and has bombed UNRWA schools and aid stations, killing hundreds of UNRWA workers.
Israel’s genocide in Gaza has long included the use of starvation as a weapon and the destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system. It is now imposing a total blockade on food, medicine and fuel to starve out or kill the hundreds of thousands of civilians still surviving there, and has bombed and invaded the last remaining hospital, killing many patients including six babies.
The UK government is among the allies of Israel that have condemned the ban – but Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy have long shown that they have no intention of actually doing anything meaningful to rein in Netanyahu’s rogue terror state.

Words from Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the UNRWA bills that Israel’s Knesset has passed.
The UK is gravely concerned at the UNRWA bills that Israel’s Knesset has passed. This legislation risks making UNRWA‘s essential work for Palestinians impossible, jeopardising the entire international humanitarian response in Gaza and delivery of essential health and education services in the West Bank.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza is simply unacceptable. We need to see an immediate ceasefire, the release of the hostages and a significant increase in aid to Gaza.
Under its international obligations, Israel must ensure sufficient aid reaches civilians in Gaza.
Only UNRWA can deliver humanitarian aid at the scale and pace needed. We pay tribute to over 200 UNRWA staff who have lost their lives in the conflict. UNRWA has a UN mandate to support Palestinian refugees. We urge Israeli lawmakers to ensure that UNRWA can continue to deliver its essential work.

Actions, particularly at the UN, will speak a lot more than such PR releases.
Herr Starmer will do exactly what his US handlers tell him to do.

South Africa has filed its memorial to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) which it says contains evidence that Israel has violated the Genocide Convention in its ongoing military offensive in the Gaza Strip which has killed over 43,000 Palestinians.
“The filing of this memorial takes place at a time when Israel is intensifying the killing of civilians in Gaza and now seems intent to follow a similar path of destruction in Lebanon,” the country’s Presidency said in a statement on Monday…………..
The statement said the memorial “contains evidence which shows how the government of Israel has violated the genocide convention by promoting the destruction of Palestinians living in Gaza.”
This occurred through “physically killing them with an assortment of destructive weapons, depriving them access to humanitarian assistance, causing conditions of life which are aimed at their physical destruction and ignoring and defying several provisional measures of the International Court of Justice,” the Presidency said; as well as “using starvation as a weapon of war and to further Israel’s aims to depopulate Gaza through mass death and forced displacement of Palestinians.”
