Leveson was ‘Labour’s unfinished business’ – now dumped by Starmer to please Murdoch

Starmer sold out victims for Murdoch’s rags’ endorsement

Keir Starmer reportedly sold out the victims of criminal phone-hacking – including the family of murdered teen Millie Dowler – by ‘mainstream’ newspapers as the price of right-wing horror Rupert Murdoch’s endorsement through the Sunday Times and S*n.

Labour has repeatedly refused to deny that Starmer made his ‘deal with the devil’, before the election, to make cancelling the second part of the Leveson enquiry – into the criminal acts committed by various rags during the phone-hacking scandal – one of his first acts if he became Prime Minister. The revelation is hardly surprising, since Starmer and his drones had already voted with the Tories to repeal ‘Section 40’ legislation subjecting corrupt papers to penalties for failure to clean up their act and submit to regulation.

And that is a disgusting betrayal of those who suffered harm at the hands of of criminal reporters and editors – including, according to a court, anti-left libel factory Lee Harpin. And no less a fellow horror than Tom Watson – now a peer thanks to Starmer re-nominating him after his original Tory nomination was rejected because of his false accusations of paedophilia – said so.

In 2018, after the Tories had defeated an attempt to overturn their abandonment of ‘Leveson 2’ to please the press barons, Watson – at that time still an MP, and like Starmer a saboteur of Jeremy Corbyn’s election campaigns (one with whom Starmer was caught having off-book meetings at the time) – condemned the action as the government ‘betray[ing] the victims” by “siding with the press barons“. Watson himself tweeted the videdo of him saying so

In the short time since taking office, Keir Starmer has betrayed the innocent victims of Israeli genocide, betrayed the UK’s poor and hungry children and betrayed the victims of criminal and unprincipled media hacks. Tragically – and as Skwawkbox predicted long ago – this will only be the start of a very long list during the term of this Red Tory government.

  1. 🦠📍📍🦠📍📍🦠📍📍OBVIOUSLY as expected. Yet some STILL will expect him to do as he CHOSES not to do.

  2. Is anyone surprised?
During his time as DPP Starmer developed a close relationship with Rupert Murdoch’s UK newspapers, refusing in 2009 to even consider evidence against the main perpetrator, News of the World .

The CPS was in possession of reams of evidence that directly implicated senior staff at News of the World . On 16 th July 2009, Starmer was shown private correspondence which proved that phone hacking was routine company practice at the ‘paper – yet he decided that the evidence would not be examined, and no charges would be brought.

This only changed in the summer of 2012 after a large number of civil cases and media reports unearthed the evidence that Starmer had failed to review. Starmer was censured by a parliamentary select committee for his failure to conduct a proper investigation at an earlier stage.

The Huffington Post reported: “A top Scotland Yard officer and the head of the Crown Prosecution Service both ‘bear culpability’ for failing to review evidence of phone hacking, the MPs found. The select committee said ex-Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism chief John Yates and Director of Public Prosecutions Keir Starmer should have ensured that the material held by police was properly investigated in the years after the original prosecutions.”

So, far from having the exemplary legal credentials and ‘forensic’ mind that his publicists claim, Keir Starmer is a reprobate influence on the Labour party, and now – because only 20.1 % of all the voters who could have voted for him on 4th July did so – on the Government of our country.

Starmer as DPP was exactly the focus of Levenson – and is (as PM) proof of its failure.

    1. credit for much of the above (11.13 post) to John Simkin and his spartacus-educational site.

  3. I understand that Watson campaigned to defeat Corbyn during the general election.

That did not work out too well.

    1. But it was still a shock to me to learn of his ennoblement! Now if only there was some way of finding out when both he and Woodcock (now Walney) are in the HOL at the same time… 😉

    2. The same Twatson, Jeremy as one of his last doings as leader, recommended to be made a Lord, as he did for McNicoll. NB Jeremy was also expelled by Starmer who sabotaged constantly, most terminally armed with 2nd Referendum REMAIN, and led COUPS twice… TWICE‼️‼️‼️

Those who FAIL by REFUSING to defend themselves, should never EVER be depended on to defend us.
NB Who defended Twatson at Conference and called the attendees “F*****g amateurs”❔
Who PUBLICLY defended Ashworth when the recording was replayed widely of him insulting Jeremy❔

Who absented themselves from the Alex Salmond motion to have parliament impeach Blair❔and advised the ENTIRE Shadow Front Bench to also absent themselves, thus aiding and abetting War Criminal Iraqi blood soaked Blair creature to continue to escape justice❔

Where exactly is the dignity and integrity in aiding and abetting the likes of Blair, Twatson, Mandelson, Hodge, McNicoll, Ashworth,
What have we gained??? What is our state now and the state of the above parasitic gang???
      ❔❓🤔❔❓🤔❔❓🤔

  4. Must keep those client ‘journalists’ onside, dontcha know?

I mean, what would the supercilious massive-fodded BBC twunt (chris) mason do other than laud keef as “ruthless” instead of doing the bastard job he’s paid for and delving into the quagmire of filth that encapsulates not only smarmerite labour, but Westminster as an entity?

    Rotten to the bloody core.

  5. Did anyone see the ITV Documentary about the involvement of
Newspapers in criminal acts – to gain information about people
(both “celebs” and “non celebs”)? It was established in the program
that all the big groups were in this up to their neck ..

So yes – Leveson 2 should never have been abandoned ..

Most people do not have their “day in Court” but instead accept
compensation because if they refuse it they may be liable for both their
and Newspapers legal costs. This occurs if Judge
after Court hearing awards lower compensation (even by a tiny
amount) than that turned down. As this can amount to many
millions of pounds it is understandable

Prince Harry is however carrying on demanding his “Day in Court”
    – saying he is the only person in a financial position to do this ..
