Video: Tory Davies threatens constituents with arrest for asking about Gaza

Tory candidate can’t take the heat over his support for genocidal regime

Tory candidate for Shipley couldn’t take the heat when constituents asked him about his support for genocidal Israel during a general election campaign meeting. Davies tried to have his staff throw attendees out, had to be asked by a woman not to touch her as he appeared about to and then threatened them with ‘six police officers outside, am I going to get them to come in and arrest you?’

And when his attempt to roll out the usual Israeli propaganda points – long since debunked – about torture and atrocities that he claimed justified Israel’s action fell flat, he resorted again to threatening to have the police arrest the dissenters, though he appeared unable to answer challenges about what the offence would be, before then having an assistant try to force people out of the room:

Davies, who in 2011 was criticised for saying disabled people should be paid less than others, in 2020 voted to keep poor children hungry and was accused by two women comedians in 2018 of ‘common assault’ against one of them when he tried to prevent her leaving his office, also filibustered in 2018 to prevent legislation to make ‘upskirting’ – taking photos up women’s skirts without consent – illegal. That was not his first such filibuster – he did the same twice to block measures to protect women from domestic violence.

But it appears he is unable to take the heat of scrutiny when his droning meets the righteous anger of those who object to Israel’s mass murder of civilian men, women and children in Gaza – and even thinks it should be a criminal offence to challenge him.
