Wikileaks founder wins further opportunity to fight extradition after court unconvinced by US ‘assurances’ regarding freedom of speech
The High Court has decided that Julian Assange can appeal against his extradition to the US, after judges were unconvinced by false US ‘assurances’ that he would not be denied an argument on freedom of speech grounds. Assurances that he would not be put to death were accepted by the court, despite the exposure of earlier US plots to kill him extrajudicially.
The fight is far from over, but for now no extradition will take place – though Assange will remain unjustly imprisoned. The US should drop this disgraced case, which should have been abandoned or thrown out of court when its main witness admitted he had lied all along.
Congratulations to Mr Assange, his family and supporters for winning this respite and potential step to his freedom and victory for journalism, human rights and government accountability.

Yes! ✊ The decision to keep Julian in prison is a calumny! He could – at least – be moved to a more comfortable accommodation.
I’d prefer to see him released, on bail – or the charges thrown out of court.

Interesting how an Occupying Force is treated the same as a small force of some of the Occupied.
The FT argues that Hamas has 45,000 fighters in Gaza out of 2m people (0.02% of the population).
And 40,000 Palestinians have been killed by Right Wing Israeli Leaders including 16,000 children plus 70,000 injured so the case against Netanyahu & Gallant is to me proven.
I totally disagree with the military & political strategy of Hamas though can still understand their logic; they felt that history was passing them by with Saudi/Israel etc deals & felt they had to dramatically break out of the Occupier prison all Palestinians are in and thus attacked armed Israeli illegal settlements.
I’ve never had time for them, whilst some Palestinian Leaders lived in luxury (as thousands of Palestinians lived in poverty in camps) Hamas got in amongst the poor offering jobs and they once shot some young Palestinian peaceful protesters who were calling for them to stop their rockets last time as too many Palestinian lives were being lost.
But there are perhaps many holes in their charges.
