Liverpool Community Independents announce Gorst to stand vs Eagle in crowdfunded parliamentary election campaign

Local councillor who trounced Labour in last year’s local elections will contest Commons seat against Labour

The Liverpool Community Independents (LCI) party of left-wing former Labour members who quit the party in disgust at the local council’s cuts to services for the city’s most vulnerable, has selected local councillor Sam Gorst to stand against Labour right MP Maria Eagle in the next parliamentary election.

Gorst is the former Labour councillor who trounced Labour in the previously strong Labour Garston ward last May, along with LCI colleague Lucy Williams, despite a disgusting sewer-campaign by Labour targeting him. Both Gorst and Williams have gained even more popularity with Garstonians for leading the fight against a literal ‘time bomb’ chemical processing works the Labour-run council has rubber-stamped to be built right next to houses in Liverpool village.

The newly-configured Garston constituency will replace the existing Garston and Halewood seat in which Eagle is the incumbent.

LCI has launched a crowdfunder to raise money for the costs of its campaign. Labour is said to be rightly worried given the scale of Garston’s rejection of the Starmeroid party in the locals.

  1. All anti Red and Blue Tories need to help each other in winnable seats, trade off who stands where and pool resources, boots on the ground should do the rest

  2. I think Sam’s a great choice. A likeable lad and the perfect fighter for a crowd-funded challenge to Maria Eagle and her starmeroid principles, sorry haemorrhoids.

Good Luck Sam. May you be the first MP of newy-created Garston.

    1. We would need to ensure that all funds raised can’t be robbed by the ptb. The fascists are good at that.

  3. This is my ward. They changed the boundaries for councillors so he I couldnt vote for him then, but I surecan against eagle. WITH PLEASURE.

    1. Just out of curiosity, are you on the mudman side of Garston, jill? If so, is the “Woodcutters” still going?

  4. When Maria Eagle, the Shadow Minister of Defence and also a Member of the Justice Committee abstains on the SNP’s Gaza Ceasefire vote, and consistently voted for the Iraq war, and against Investigation into it and who consistently voted for UK military action against whichever “terrorist” forces that Washington instructs us to oppose (Aldi/Ikea/ISIS/Alquieda/ IKEA /ISIL/Daesh/Aldi), her constituents must know she’s an obedient Atlanticist who tows-the-line wherever and against whomever Washington and its military industrial complex draws it – even when it amounts to support for genocide in Gaza

Sam Gorst will be seen as a Breath of Fresh Air by many voters. They’ll see in him a golden opportunity to knock this Eagle woman off the perch she has shuffled-on since 1997.

Good luck Sam. Good luck LCI.

Red Tories are relying on the lesser if two evils strategy
Where there is a viable Independent then voters have clear Red Water
      Wheres JC

  5. Given that Liverpool is reputedly the most left-wing area of the UK will there be a LCI candidate standing in every Merseyside constituency.

    1. Betting the farm** on some of the largest labour majorities in the house, eh? Just so you can wheel out your usual torpid guff for the fuckteenth time, and each time like its the first time we’ve been subject to your perspicacity.

Well keef tried – and failed miserably – to oust a proper socialist MP in Ian Byrne…

…But conspired to save angela illeagle last time, didn’t he? And then shoehorned cryarsing mcgovern in for birkonia, rather than wirral west.

As there’s no independent candidate for Wallasey (as yet), I’d rather vote toerag than smarmerite angela illeagle. At least I’d be getting someone advertising their trade with a modicum of honesty. I’m quite sure many Garstonians will be thinking along the same lines with the (slightly lesser) evil twin.

Except they have a (worthy) independent to opt for.

I wouldn’t count me chickens over the Garston eagle being reelected.

**I’m sure the goats will have their hooves crossed.

      1. Toffee – “Well keef tried – and failed miserably – to oust a proper socialist MP in Ian Byrne…”

Oh dear., you are resorting to making stuff up again
It was the Branches in Ian’s own CLP Branches that voted to trigger him (he lost all 4). He wasn’t singled out for any special treatment the process was simply part of a timetable that was published last year for all CLPs to decide on whether they wanted to have a trigger ballot or not.
I’m glad that Ian won but it is undeniable that it was a very close run thing (210-198 (51.5% to 48.5%)) as was Ian’s original PPC selection in 2019 (3 recounts and a majority of 2)

  6. Oh dear., you are resorting to making stuff up again

    Am I indeed? Oh. Ok.

I notice you didn’t mention the smarmer-approved & encouraged shithousery with the voting process(es)**and the reported intimidatory behaviour of the other *ahem* candidate.

But you’re never gonna mention that sort of lower-than-whaleshit disregard, are ya?

**Decidedly shady voting processes which were)are most definitely NOT exclusive to West Derby CLP.

    1. Toffee -It’s not my fault that the facts don’t support your unique view of the world

    2. Toffee – You appear to be under the misapprehension that I care one way or t’other what you think.🥱

  7. I’m glad that Ian won

Care to expand on this, because I won’t be the only one knows you’re lying through your bastard teeth.

You’re NOT a socialist. You have saidnso yourself that you are not and NEVER have been. You are a dyed-in-the-wool irredeemable smarmerite, who has previously and incessantly endorsed – to the hilt – smarmerite electoral rigging “practices”.

There isn’t and has NEVER been an open criticism from you of any of the smarmerites shithousery exposed by skwawkbox, or even in the mainstream media.

Instead, we have suffered nothing but your unceasing bullshit.

And this latest whopper is off the fucking scale….even for you.

Please refrain from insulting my far superior intellect, let alone those posters on here far more erudite than myself.

    1. Toffee – Oh dear, if only we were all as clever as you think you are. 😏

As I pointed out above, your rather weird views are not supported by the facts.

      “Care to elaborate”
      If you insist.
He appears to be a good constituency MP who takes an active part in his community and works hard on behalf of his constituents. (will that do you?)

  8. As expected.

No explanation of just WHY you were supposedly “glad that Ian won”, not even the obligatory obfuscatory and/or totally ambiguous response.

    Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Diddly.

And the reason you haven’t come back with any explanation whatsoever is because you know full well that we know just as well as you that you’re lying.

    Once again.

  9. CLP officer refused to sign off trigger ballot result.

Byrne locked out of emails/party comms – other candidates weren’t.

Party says Byrne lost trigger ballot even though Byrne won it.

Candidate trying to get doors locked early in hustings/meetings.

Byrne asks electoral commission to investigate.

But those things DIDNT happen did they, DICKHEAD.

Then we have “he’s a good constituency MP.”

From the same stupid cnut making great wails about how his constituents triggered him in the first place.

DICKHEAD. Just do us all a favour and fucking die.

    1. Toffee – Are you saying that in your opinion Ian isn’t a good constituency MP?

      1. Guessed as much…All too predictable.

From the colossal bellend that used the very same excuse to attempt to justify why Byrne was triggered.

But said less than fuck-all about the shithousery used by the party to try to oust him.

…And now tries to palm his craven justification off onto someone who actually supports Byrne AND his politics.

        What a helmet.

You know those who “triggered” him?

They voted to keep him in situ, DESPITE your shower of shite’s best efforts to oust him.

Off you pop, to try yet again, noncecase.
