Breaking: Lebedev releases text of Starmer’s congratulations for peerage

To use Starmer’s own words, he now ‘has questions to answer’

Keir Starmer’s attempt to put Boris Johnson on the hook over the peerage given to Russian tycoon Evgeny Lebedev has blown up in his face today after Lebedev released the wording of a text Starmer sent him congratulating him on his ‘elevation’:

The fact that Starmer considers a Tory installation in the House of Lords to be an ‘elevation’ speaks volumes, but the revelation will be a major embarrassment for the man who masquerades under the title of Labour’s ‘leader’, who has been opportunistically calling for an investigation into the award.

This is not Starmer’s only Russian hypocrisy, as he has taken donations from millionaires who made money in Russia – and continues to retain advisers such as Peter Mandelson who are up to their necks in connections with Russian elites including Vladimir Putin himself.

But it does much to highlight Starmer’s real nature as an Establishment creature to the core.

Keir Starmer was contacted for comment.
