#RejectEvans hashtag trends at 6 – then suddenly vanishes

A ‘#RejectEvans’ ‘Twitter storm’ has been taking place this evening as current and former Labour members call on member and union delegates to Labour’s conference to refuse to confirm Keir Starmer’s acting sidekick – and the architect of the party’s war on democracy – to the permanent role of party general secretary when a vote is taken this weekend.

And it has gone down a ‘storm’, reaching number six in Twitter’s chart of UK trending hashtags:

But a few minutes later the topic suddenly vanished from the trending chart.

Evans faces a vote by conference delegates that could see him out of a job by the end of the weekend – and even if Starmer and co decide to ignore the rulebook and keep him in post – which would not surprise many – his legitimacy will vanish and mutiny is likely among local Labour parties if he tries to suspend or expel members or try to shut down the topics they want to discuss and vote on, as he has in the past.

  1. Similar “weird” trending happens with covid news stories too – causing many people to believe that Twitter carries our manual “resets” of its data to facilitate systemic ‘misrpresentation’ that consolidates the vested interests of the powers that be and their predominant powers.

Not too different to (for example) the BBC misinforming the population on (say) anti-semitism in Labour.

  2. I suspect the man is working with paranoid security services because his words and actions are all about bringing the party into disrepute and damaging it beyond recognition.
