Labour declines to say it will expel members of RIGHT-wing Labour groups after expelling left CLP vice-chair

Socialist Appeal membership used as grounds for expulsion of Alex Falconer – but like its counterparts on the right, it organises within the party and does not stand candidates against it, nor is it a ‘proscribed’ group

The Labour party has declined to say it would treat internal right-wing Labour groups in the same way as left groups, after it misapplied its rules to expel the left-wing vice-chair of Truro and Falmouth CLP for membership of Socialist Appeal. The party informed Alex Falconer that he was being ‘auto-excluded’ for membership of:

Socialist Appeal, which is incompatible with membership of the Labour party.

The party invoked rule 2, clause I.4.B of the Labour rule book, which states:

A member of the Party who joins and/ or supports a political organisation other than an official Labour group or other unit of the Party, or supports any candidate who stands against an official  Labour candidate, or publicly declares their intent to stand against a Labour candidate, shall automatically be ineligible to be or remain a Party member, subject to the provisions of Chapter 6.I.2 below of the disciplinary rules.

However, Socialist Appeal organises within the Labour party and does not stand candidates against Labour and is not on the party’s list of ‘proscribed’ organisations. In that regard, it is like right-wing pressure groups Labour First and Progress.

Those two groups also routinely back a joint ‘slate’ of candidates in Labour’s internal elections, which by the party’s ‘logic’ toward Alex Falconer should see members of those groups expelled, let alone being allowed to stand for the party’s national executive and other administrative bodies. But of course, the party appears to have no intention of applying its rules even-handedly by expelling members of those groups – even though their members and supporters have often worked to undermine its electability.

Skwawkbox contacted the party and asked it to confirm whether it would be reinstating Mr Falconer with an apology, or else kicking out Progress and Labour First in order to apply its rules lawfully. A press spokesperson first responded that she had ‘no clue’, then promised to provide a response if the enquiry was submitted by email, which it was.

19 hours after the expiry of the deadline, the party has still not responded. If only that was surprising.

independent thought is not independent when people regurgitate what others regurgitate. this tragedy may have endured for sixty years because no one had the courage of convictions to stand up and call it out. in fact some awake suddenly from who knows where to silence channelling truths. all must repeat like lemmings nice tosh about sacred cows, yet call traditional voters racists. what does that really reveal? me thinks the self proclaimed virtuous and ever virtue signalling are not as virtuous as they sincerely believe.

having presented arguments to a fifty million electorate, or whatever it is, failed to convince yet call half of the electorate stupid and racists, is neither virtuous nor smart.

truths must be called out and in a “teutonic” way 📣🌹📣🌹📣🌹hiding is not virtuous. fog does not “bring people together”. after millions have decided something, undeceiving it with sir starmer’s forensic “constructive ambiguity” and voicing it for him, would never “bring the country together”. it didn’t. being correct on many things yet only occasionally granting “the many” a visitation or even a mumbled utterance in a bunker somewhere for minions to deliver to adjoining bunkers is worthless correctness. correctness must be implemented … brought to fruition. that is success. millions demonstrated openly and with full enthusiasm support for what is correct. it is indecent to minimise our support yet “do everything to make them love him”. “him” being jeremy. “them” being those who made it plain they are against what is correct eg “won’t knife jeremy in the back… would knife him in the front”.

if it is “decent” to excuse such. how is it “decent” to refuse to defend friends. we have been let down completely by the collective union and left party bigwigs. we being “the many”.🌹📣🌹📣🌹📣

    2. So the fault is ‘in ourselves’, and ‘we have been failed unforgivably’. So what you’re saying is that we have failed ourselves unforgivably.

All I can say windychimes is that you must try to find it in your heart to forgive, not only your own failure, but that of others. After all, to errr is human.

      And to forgive divine.

      1. piss off puss wanker allan howard. u’ve done your damage. hope u and your paymasters choke on your reward.☢️☢️☢️

      2. So much bitterness windy! Where does it all come from? You strike me as a very lonely person, without alife – ie friends and family to socialise and spend time with. I mean I’ve often noticed that you’re still posting comments at gone midnight, and then you’re up early the next morning posting again. For example, you posted a reply to bazza at 12.41am yesterday morning, and then at 7.30am you were off again. Now that’s no life windychimes, and I think that’s why you’re so full of bitterness at the world.

        Forgive!!!

      3. allan howard the weirdo stalker wanker💊💊💊

      4. I just quickly put all your posts together from just this one thread windychimes.

thanks john mcdonnell, len mccluskey, thornberry, gardner, lewis, jeremy. thanks four years of appeasements, a peerage for mcnicoll and i’m sure tom watson appreciates your recommendation for one too. well done allan howard steveh davidh sh maria vazquez boatman smartbot et al all super well done. this tragic sh fest LITERALLY could not have happened without you. oh forgot to thank the never ending book readers and talk attenders, social atomisers, every niche band wagon champion ers, basics ignorers, theoretical definition shaggers. well done to all of you … and the sitting and screaming a-waiters for new party formers to form a new party… sorry i almost missed you out… oh yes the experienced members of thirty forty fifty years who can’t even suss the cock and bull stories of allan howard, nor him never having given one bit of constructive advice. only appease appease appease or attackers attacking will attack…. yeees but the masses are “uninformed” “stupid” and “uneducated”.
apologies. for got the “honey” laden “fly catchers” and their generosity supplying tons of the finest quality bio dynamic honey and for so delicately wiping of the flies wings and fattening up the flies with more honey. and, oh yes that so exceedingly smart set who after fifty sixty seventy years experience protesting and “writing motions” believe doing the same things will get different results. not forgetting the “converters” thank you all. we are here today because of you and you alone
no. but well done steveh davidh david hall sh allan howard boatman smartbot the entire collective left “leadership” the honey fly trappers, the vague foggers who call it being polite et all this tragedy could not have been achieved without you all. the status quo needs all the above to endure. distractors and vague foggers in and amongst those who want change. well done. my wish is that they would all indeed go form a new party where everyone agrees with everyone else and dare not raise the alarm re faulty equipment or methods “polite” but not to the great unwashed. but they won’t go form their new party. you know that steveh. just read allan howard’s three or four accounts across approx two years. in his latest he eventually names the elderly man “len”. he claimed he left “len” on the gents floor at the mercy of thugs, despite having a famed “headlock”. and the man’s wife has thanked him. even a child could see that he is a despicable fraud but think of it. it says lots about how your lot regard us. you really do think that we are all extremely stupid. howard seems to be daring his colleagues to give such a cock and bull story and considered one of the “left”. exact spy cops infiltration. only joseph and i called out allan howard. and joseph only once. hence he is easily allowed to do his job to do nothing transforming. the environmentalist women made pregnant by the spycops, wanted a fantasy. similarly the thousands of perfectly inteligent women swindled out of in total millions by crooks they wanted to believe are “perfect”. a main “left” person in my clp actually said something like we need to set up a new party that’s “perfect”. imagine adults thinking like that. the fact they say it means they don’t realise how naive they are. and i’m speaking of university graduates.
but steveh i don’t mind u smirking. your lot is not the “left’s” reason for our tragic situation. u and even howard are useful objects on which to practise for free…. though allan howard is uniquely crazed and nasty. but still your lot won’t deploy him if they did not find him effective. you lot cover all corners. belt and braces. my lot distract themselves with tiresome expositions of academic terms and meanings while they allow “the many” to be screwed by the few. basics – focus, discipline, recruitment from a wide diversity of talents, strategy, preparation of candidates all ignored. bandwidth swallowed up with weird obsessions with what bandits, bastards and vultures are called. at least i’ve never heard jeremy spout such spaff in public. even he must know long noise about different words and meanings are irrelevant. at least i assume he knows. why the obsession ego thus displacement. some more than others desperately need to feel “smart” or worthy. that’s why u and your lot try to ridicule. very effective in silencing some. the reality is we do not have to be the person who says the smart thing. the valuable culture is to find the smart / correct / useful idea from any source… even from you sh.
        so pull another one.
joseph, infighting will always exist everywhere; in churches, temples, mosques, boardrooms synagogues. it is a fact of life. the problem is our lot not just refusing to defend us but they chose to actively ignore the repeated gross wrongdoings of the parasites. plus they chose to reward them to the very end. plus sat on the internal report thus indecently depriving the membership of knowledge to make an informed choice. the parasites are defending what our wannabe zen buddhas handed to them on a platter. that is not integrity. that is not leadership. that is not useful to the many. that is only useful to the worst types of humans and creatures who prefer giving one percent of the world’s population even more, but only one percent to people like nurses.
the status quo would crumble if we “the many” were not repeatedly conned by prophets who enable, protect and reward agents of the status quo. fact. choice. fact. we have … the whole country has been betrayed fact. we’ve been give useless words from people with sixty years close experience and public office fact. nothing has been learnt. people clutch at straws. the status quo survives because even with an army of over half million, so comfortable are our leaders, they put our support aside desperate to cosy up with the vilest people. think about it. what are backroom deals?
they effectively exclude “the many”, the much prattled about “grass roots”. it locks them out. all the buzz words, utterly hollow. eg “start at the grassroots” = go tell them what’s good for them. it’s exactly the attitude of the imperialist plunderers 🪱🪳🪱🪳🪱🪳as currently being literally disinterred in british columbia canada. the virtuous are not as virtuous as they believe. same with the right wing, they clog the churches to hide the crimes of living of the millions paid to them as compensation for slaves lost. only repaid in 2015. have you ever heard one our lot present a sustained pursuit and resolution for that physical emotional and financial injustices? no. yet abundant energy was available to argue for the capitalist enabling and protecting eu.
we need to have deep reflection re our part in maintaining the status quo. our “left leaders” must reflect deeper still and change. until then they have zero respect from me. why? because the facts are, these tragedies are as much their responsibility as the parasites. they are not saints, not buddhas, not semi buddhas. what some call “zen” is gross self-indulgent detachment. “the many” pay the cruel price.
r u ok doug. 2 days in a row, u r saying the strangest things. no one has to offer parasites anything to piss off.
meanwhile i hear tosser sir starmer spent tons of money on focus groups who advised him to tweet about football eg time off to watch match. responses r hillarious eg “resign!” “publish the forde report” etc all that needed to be done was expell mandelson, blair the war criminal liar, hodge and tons of others. plus turn up for alex salmond’s vote to “impeach” the iraq bloodthirsty blair. no yachts needed. no offers people can’t refuse. that is a status quo mindset doug. things do not have to be that way. thanks
NVLA – yes NGOs another obscene tragedy literally. ever heard any of the virtuous doing a sustained campaign to clean out the muck from them ? muck like milliband on a million dollars a year in new york??? no me neither. but u can put a million dollars on it the same people who call “the many” stupid, are the same types who will parrot msm trash 🪰🪳🪰🪳🪰🪳that milliband could get a “labour” win. jeremy, mcdonnell, mccluskey types will be right there telling us to “unify” with them for a “labour government”. literally deadly label itis.
doug u r obsessing about them and what they may and may not do rather than what was decisively within jeremy’s gift to do. that is part of the culture the attitude i try to explain. the left is completely hypnotised by the status quo. compounded by resulting frustrations, and displacements to sooth, and rage to satisfy. there is no shortage of intelligence or knowledge or satisfactory sincerity. but none of those qualities are used in the slightest bit effectively. we live through the consequences of that.

there is what i visualise as people feverishly pouring over complicated schemata on a kitchen or dining room table. but all the focus is as of mice in a hole obsessed by mythical powerful cats. the myths are fed by our lot. have u heard any of our lot point out the joke of mandelson and starmer saying a vast reduction of a healthy majority to 0.86% is not a triumph and not a victory ? ? ?
        no me neither.

our bigwig zen cows despite decades of virtuous noises, seem to regard sustained demolishing of myths as unnecessary, yet whine about media repeating lies. note well, the thunderbird woman with dynamism built her movement. then jeremy jumped on. then silence puffff just like that.
the media pumped out stuff about trump. again jeremy jumps on. pufff
not a word about biden’s bombings in iran nor palestine in a sustained way to the general public.

if some virtuous person built a dynamic movement and a crowd for yaks in the upper outer quadrant of anywhere where yaks live, pufff jeremy will be there then pufff gone again up behind the great zen fog up some foggy mountain who knows where until another visitation.

myths endure fed by such disgraceful failure to see anything through. i challenge anyone. give one example of a spoken aim, brought to life. funny that a twenty-something footballer spoke of food poverty and saw it through despite attacks. yet even here on skwawkbox.org his efforts were minimised by a few. he may have impressed some if he mentioned zionists, trilaterals and academic definitions of vultures parasites and bastards.

experienced people even on skwawkbox.org say “lewis” or x or y is a “good choice because they are not too left”.
those who feel they are more awake than the many, believe in and fuel the same myths pumped out by media + mandelson. how’s that for being so “educated” better than the electorate ? ? ? pleeeeease

these obvious facts are never said. that’s why myths endure. jeremy had the power to expel bliar, hodge and others for numerous infractions. he chose not to. not helped by being stitched up by allan howard types. these are the consequences of timorous craven choices to appease.

john mcdonnell – “we did everything they asked”. ( with a curdling whine). choice.

“jeremy did everything to make them love him, but they did not love him back.” – dianne abbott with assured decisive assessment. she is correct. choice.

he choose not to give that love to his friends or supporters. ask them. thousands of them. he had lots to offer … incomparable in fact. he chose not to see anything through. the truth i feel is his ultimate priority craving is to be in the clique which ostracised him for forty or fifty years. think of it; a willing army of nearly six hundred thousand did not satisfy. they are “the many”.

i seem to have heard loud chants of oh jeremy corbyn in rome even yesterday at the match. the support for jeremy from the grassroots … “the many” was more than for any other politician in my lifetime and i suspect all the experienced readers. yet he prioritised to the very end being accepted by the worst examples of humanity and creatures. even wishing twatson a peerage. what’s that about? after both stepped down. anyone explain what’s that about ?
a modern tragic tale if ever there was one.

sacrifice the welfare of “the many” and their enthusiastic support and hope. for what? “to be loved by” 🎯🔱🎯🔱🎯🔱 watson mandelson blair hodge starmer…

and “knife in the front” jessica phillips.. the entire shadow cabinet should not have absented themselves from the alex salmond vote to “impeach” blair. what “power” did mccluskey have and choose to use to command the entire shadow cabinet to absent themselves from parliament? they chose to do that. the consequences are as we live through now.

        technicalities don’t wash.
enabling, protecting, rescuing and offering peerages to wrongdoers is a gross dereliction of duty. it is indecent. it is not integrity. it makes one party to the status quo. the party is neither a cult nor charity creche for adults with suspect priorities.

if my “teutonic” approach is new, then good. for change we need clarity not vague timid fog. those of many years who have pumped out vague fog for decades, seen the repeated ineffectiveness, get a miraculous set of opportunities, full support of “the many”, yet prioritised “doing everything to make them love him” ( them being those with polar opposite values to us ) is worse than a failure. that behaviour has tarnished all of us by association. nothing positive is achieved by failing to call that out. those who fail to call it out are also culpable. in fact more so, because none of us can see ourselves as others see us. one person cannot do everything. it is a collective exercise and therefore a collective failure. i blame the team around jeremy more than him. he brought much of what they lacked and would never have. what they did have, they failed to offer. thornberry, mcdonnell, gardner, lewis, rayner, mccluskey could never attract 600,000 enthusiastic supporters. neither are they correct on key aspects of policy ( in my opinion). jeremy was correct. it was their duty to help him bring that about. i suspect they fancied their chances at the leadership as they considered jeremy as gullible and uneducated… “un read”. i suspect he respected them for their university experience. big mistake, compared to him, they are pitiable. but we all have flaws. we need people to point them out ( in the macro sphere). of course it may be best in the domestic situation to sometimes ignore racist great aunt maud or dominating husband or wife. not so in public life. jeremy is not a bad person. but bad things happen and persist when good people do sod all to stop it.

to defend the indefensible, encourages the repetition of the indefensible. the failure to call it out, encourages no learning.
“the many” pay the heavy price. that’s the important matter.
how could a grown man in the party longer than many have been alive be “taken aback”. i have zero political experience and saw it. goldbach u also say “initially”. how long does “initially” last? four whole years? ending with offering a peerage to watson? watson as good as admitted on the conference stage to sharing the views of the saboteurs.
also why then was he not “too trusting” of chris williamson.
these excuses don’t help jeremy, us, or the country. that’s why i say collective failure. i suspect over his seventy years he never got constructive criticism. ditto the entire ‘left’. very very very odd to me. and in adults. stunning

the status quo would crumble if we “the many” were not repeatedly conned by prophets who enable, protect and reward agents of the status quo. fact. choice. fact. we have … the whole country has been betrayed fact. we’ve been give useless words from people with sixty years close experience and public office fact. nothing has been learnt. people clutch at straws. the status quo survives because even with an army of over half million, so comfortable are our leaders, they put our support aside desperate to cosy up with the vilest people. think about it. what are backroom deals?

      1. they effectively exclude “the many”, the much prattled about “grass roots”. it locks them out. all the buzz words, utterly hollow. eg “start at the grassroots” = go tell them what’s good for them. it’s exactly the attitude of the imperialist plunderers 🪱🪳🪱🪳🪱🪳as currently being literally disinterred in british columbia canada. the virtuous are not as virtuous as they believe. same with the right wing, they clog the churches to hide the crimes of living of the millions paid to them as compensation for slaves lost. only repaid in 2015. have you ever heard one our lot present a sustained pursuit and resolution for that physical emotional and financial injustices? no. yet abundant energy was available to argue for the capitalist enabling and protecting eu.

we need to have deep reflection re our part in maintaining the status quo. our “left leaders” must reflect deeper still and change. until then they have zero respect from me. why? because the facts are, these tragedies are as much their responsibility as the parasites. they are not saints, not buddhas, not semi buddhas. what some call “zen” is gross self-indulgent detachment. “the many” pay the cruel price.

  7. They are in the wrong party, make them an offer they cannot refuse to fuck off and create the mythical GE winning centrist machine party
Give War mongrel immunity from prosecution
    Give mushy peas a yacht
    Give TE sfa

    1. r u ok doug. 2 days in a row, u r saying the strangest things. no one has to offer parasites anything to piss off.
meanwhile i hear tosser sir starmer spent tons of money on focus groups who advised him to tweet about football eg time off to watch match. responses r hillarious eg “resign!” “publish the forde report” etc all that needed to be done was expell mandelson, blair the war criminal liar, hodge and tons of others. plus turn up for alex salmond’s vote to “impeach” the iraq bloodthirsty blair. no yachts needed. no offers people can’t refuse. that is a status quo mindset doug. things do not have to be that way. thanks
      ❌🌹❌🌹❌ 🌹

    2. You won’t get rid of half of them. It’s been captured.

Look at most NGOs. Take Greenpeace for example. Been totally neutered. Thunberg travelled to Davos with its boss. Greenpeace at Davos and not to protest.

Only a new party will work and it’s only a matter of time before the same phenomenon repeats itself.

      Money talks

    1. easier than u think. arsetair campbellend was shifted.✴️✴️✴️

  8. On a serious note you simply call their bluff, go away and with yellow, tartan and one nation Tories create the Centrist party and let’s see how yoy get on
They all worship Blair, he is key to this strategy, so it’s how you get him to bite

    1. doug u r obsessing about them and what they may and may not do rather than what was decisively within jeremy’s gift to do. that is part of the culture the attitude i try to explain. the left is completely hypnotised by the status quo. compounded by resulting frustrations, and displacements to sooth, and rage to satisfy. there is no shortage of intelligence or knowledge or satisfactory sincerity. but none of those qualities are used in the slightest bit effectively. we live through the consequences of that.

there is what i visualise as people feverishly pouring over complicated schemata on a kitchen or dining room table. but all the focus is as of mice in a hole obsessed by mythical powerful cats. the myths are fed by our lot. have u heard any of our lot point out the joke of mandelson and starmer saying a vast reduction of a healthy majority to 0.86% is not a triumph and not a victory ? ? ?
      no me neither.

our bigwig zen cows despite decades of virtuous noises, seem to regard sustained demolishing of myths as unnecessary, yet whine about media repeating lies. note well, the thunderbird woman with dynamism built her movement. then jeremy jumped on. then silence puffff just like that.
the media pumped out stuff about trump. again jeremy jumps on. pufff
not a word about biden’s bombings in iran nor palestine in a sustained way to the general public.

if some virtuous person built a dynamic movement and a crowd for yaks in the upper outer quadrant of anywhere where yaks live, pufff jeremy will be there then pufff gone again up behind the great zen fog up some foggy mountain who knows where until another visitation.

myths endure fed by such disgraceful failure to see anything through. i challenge anyone. give one example of a spoken aim, brought to life. funny that a twenty-something footballer spoke of food poverty and saw it through despite attacks. yet even here on skwawkbox.org his efforts were minimised by a few. he may have impressed some if he mentioned zionists, trilaterals and academic definitions of vultures parasites and bastards.

experienced people even on skwawkbox.org say “lewis” or x or y is a “good choice because they are not too left”.
those who feel they are more awake than the many, believe in and fuel the same myths pumped out by media + mandelson. how’s that for being so “educated” better than the electorate ? ? ? pleeeeease

these obvious facts are never said. that’s why myths endure. jeremy had the power to expel bliar, hodge and others for numerous infractions. he chose not to. not helped by being stitched up by allan howard types. these are the consequences of timorous craven choices to appease.

john mcdonnell – “we did everything they asked”.

  9. I offer a small correction.
“jeremy had the power to expel bliar, hodge and others for numerous infractions. he chose not to”.
Mr Corbyn didn’t have that power. The GLU (with a degree of reference to the NEC) had that power. For some totally inexplicable reason they chose not to do so.

      1. That is correct. Of course it would have had no effect other than to amplify the efforts of the scheisters, within the party and outside, in their campaign to crush any vestige of socialist thought in the party.

      2. goldbach – So what, without the Labour whip they would have lost their seats. Boris didn’t hesitate to assert his power at the end of 2019

      3. and johnson has never had more than a handful of close associate friends within their party. he is. or was loved by the grassroots, the many. he is indecisive on many things but not re withdrawing whip from even clarke and soames. he was not obsessed with fearfulness of media and cabinet walkouts. he is pm and his party is more united than ours. were it not for matt hancock, johnson would have defeated starmer again. we must pause and learn.
        🌳🔺🌳🔺🌳🔺

      4. how do u asses the results of his choice of inaction goldbach. as i said to doug earlier, rampant amongst the ‘left’ is an institutional obsession with how externals will attack. institutional fear. always reactive. last time i looked they are crushing every vestige of socialist now throughout the party. is that not vivid proof that appeasements galore have failed
        ❔ ❔ ❔

      5. and “knife in the front” jessica phillips.. the entire shadow cabinet should not have absented themselves from the alex salmond vote to “impeach” blair. what “power” did mccluskey have and choose to use to command the entire shadow cabinet to absent themselves from parliament? they chose to do that. the consequences are as we live through now.

        technicalities don’t wash.
enabling, protecting, rescuing and offering peerages to wrongdoers is a gross dereliction of duty. it is indecent. it is not integrity. it makes one party to the status quo. the party is neither a cult nor charity creche for adults with suspect priorities.

if my “teutonic” approach is new, then good. for change we need clarity not vague timid fog. those of many years who have pumped out vague fog for decades, seen the repeated ineffectiveness, get a miraculous set of opportunities, full support of “the many”, yet prioritised “doing everything to make them love him” ( them being those with polar opposite values to us ) is worse than a failure. that behaviour has tarnished all of us by association. nothing positive is achieved by failing to call that out. those who fail to call it out are also culpable. in fact more so, because none of us can see ourselves as others see us. one person cannot do everything. it is a collective exercise and therefore a collective failure. i blame the team around jeremy more than him. he brought much of what they lacked and would never have. what they did have, they failed to offer. thornberry, mcdonnell, gardner, lewis, rayner, mccluskey could never attract 600,000 enthusiastic supporters. neither are they correct on key aspects of policy ( in my opinion). jeremy was correct. it was their duty to help him bring that about. i suspect they fancied their chances at the leadership as they considered jeremy as gullible and uneducated… “un read”. i suspect he respected them for their university experience. big mistake, compared to him, they are pitiable. but we all have flaws. we need people to point them out ( in the macro sphere). of course it may be best in the domestic situation to sometimes ignore racist great aunt maud or dominating husband or wife. not so in public life. jeremy is not a bad person. but bad things happen and persist when good people do sod all to stop it.

to defend the indefensible, encourages the repetition of the indefensible. the failure to call it out, encourages no learning.
“the many” pay the heavy price. that’s the important matter.
        🥚♦️🥚♦️🥚♦️

    1. goldback, Jeremy had the power to withdraw the whip which he should have done.

My greatest regret is that even before Jeremy became leader it should have been known to him and those close to him who would be the ones out to get him. Remember that list, which wasn’t too far wrong? Even though it didn’t mention those who were close but who could be swung against him given a little pressure, John McDonnell for instance.

It was an absolute dereliction of duty that there was no comprehensive plan mapped out to deal with the onslaught from the right wingers which was 100% bound to occur. To even think that it would have been possible to treat those who were determined to get him as reasonable individuals who could be brought on side was naive in the extreme. From the day he was elected Leader his enemies put their plan, which was ready and waiting, into action and never let up until he was gone. First they removed those around him such as Chris Williamson, who showed they were willing to protect him and because Jeremy hardly lifted a finger, the rest was easy.

      Cue White Flag Man.

      1. Yes, I agree.
It seems to me, however, that he was initially genuinely taken aback by the intensity and viciousness of the campaign and, because of that, was constantly having to be reactive. Too trusting maybe

      2. how could a grown man in the party longer than many have been alive be “taken aback”. i have zero political experience and saw it. goldbach u also say “initially”. how long does “initially” last? four whole years? ending with offering a peerage to watson? watson as good as admitted on the conference stage to sharing the views of the saboteurs.
also why then was he not “too trusting” of chris williamson.
these excuses don’t help jeremy, us, or the country. that’s why i say collective failure. i suspect over his seventy years he never got constructive criticism. ditto the entire ‘left’. very very very odd to me. and in adults. stunning
        🛑🛑🛑

      3. Call me naive, but I had no idea that it would be in the Labour party that I’d meet the most people I’d never really want to meet. I now know the party is institutionally conservative, It is not going to become socialist, ever

      4. “.. even before Jeremy became leader it should have been known to him and those close to him who would be the ones out to get him.’
About 70% of the PLP and most of the full time staff were out to sabotage him and the Labour Party. Add that to the unanimous opposition of the media and The Establishment and it is understandable that the Leader of the opposition should be very careful not to give the scabs any excuse to split the party.
The only way that Corbyn could have survived and a socialist programme solidified was to unite the left in a common purpose. Unfortunately the sectarianism is so deeply engrained that the left just kept in splitting. The only support that Jeremy could count on was that of the people, particularly the young, among whom he was genuinely popular and respected.
All the elements of a socialist victory are still there, and every day adds to them: the system is in real crisis, from which there is no way out as imperialism’s second (more likely fifth) banana. But the way forward involves understanding that the Parliamentary road, though important, is not where socialists’ priorities lie. Probably the first thing to do is to put an end to the childish fascination with ‘leadership’ and to insist upon the most rigorous democracy in and out of the party, democracy in the unions, democracy in the constituencies and regions, ending the folly of identity politics and insisting on one person one vote in all selection of candidates.. it is all very simple: back to Square One.

      5. bevin – It is what we were promised, on more than one occasion. Unfortunately the promises didn’t have any substance.

      6. Bevin, plenty there to agree with but has there ever been a successful political movement without an inspiring Leader, which then went on to take power?

      7. Rewriting history again are we Jack! Given that Chris wasn’t suspended until February 2019 – and Jeremy was elected leader in September 2015 – it was hardly the first thing the plotters did!

But you ALWAYS like to get Chris into your posts whenever you can, don’t you, so as to denigrate Jeremy!

And just how exactly did Chris ‘show’ that he was willing to protect him. Speaking out in Jeremy’s defence hardly amounted to protecting him. And the irony is that Chris ended up getting suspended for actually criticising Jeremy (although he didn’t mention him by name of course) for apologising too much! But I’m sure you’re aware that when asked by some local reporter if he thought Chris was an anti-semite, Jeremy defended Chris and said ‘Of course Chris isn’t an anti-semite’.

The smearers/plotters had labelled Chris a ‘Jew baiter’ long before he ended up being suspended, and they could have taken him out at any time they wanted. And I have little doubt that they knew a snap GE would be called later that year and that he would lose his seat – ie his job as an MP.

  10. bevin
All the elements of a socialist victory are still there
They have not gone away, they are waiting for someone to stand up and be counted and still screaming for clear Red water
This time there can be no compromise with Red Tories

    1. Democracy can produce an elected Leader but when that Leader begins to operate they have to bear in mind that those who elected them, trusted them to take decisions and push the policies through upon which they were elected. This can mean that democracy sometimes has to take a back seat and the Leader has to survive or fall based upon the success or failure of their decisions. If they try to be too ‘democratic’ and get involved in consultation after consultation, indecision can be the result.

Which reminds me, how much longer will it be before the words ‘democratic Socialist Party’ disappear from the LP membership card?

  11. This is an interesting debate, particularly the concept of “left unity” and the examination of errors made by all of those/us who believe that a socialist perspective represents the correct political analysis.
The tension between the need to analyse our errors and the desire to advance our own perspective is clear (including on these pages).
So what’s the way forward? Any offers?
It seems to me that I have the option of rejoining the fray in the LP when/if I become fit enough to do so again, and I have the option to forgo head-against-brick-wall days forever and just enjoy seeing the scheisters imploding. Are there any others?

  12. During my daily routine of meandering through TV Channels, desperate to find a programme that I can engage with, I watched/listened to part of LBC News & the description of a Jewish man in central London who told Police that yesterday, he had been laughed at & abused by gangs of youths on 2 separate occasions. I realise how serious any form of racism is & how it can affect people but………………it seems anti-Semitism has not gone completely away on LBC.
