Doctors’ NHS campaign groupEveryDoctorUK and its CEO Dr Julia Patterson have publicly thanked back-bench Labour MP Jon Trickett for his Early Day Motion (EDM) to demand a proper 15% pay increase for NHS staff.
Trickett tabled the EDM last month condemning the Tories’ ‘derisory’ 1% pay offer to NHS workers who have ‘suffered real terms pay cuts of up to 30%’ and continue to suffer further real-terms cuts despite their enormous and selfless sacrifice on the front line of the fight against the Covid pandemic.

However, as she noted, only twenty-four MPs have signed Trickett’s motion so far – 23 Labour left-wingers and one SDLP MP, with not a Starmerite in sight. This is simply unacceptable – and readers are encouraged to contact their MP here to ask them to add their support.

There have been 5 reforms since 1990 and a new one is coming from Johnson. The aim is to ease us into private healthcare. Despite this being a wonderful EDM it will be kryptonite to the cult of the new Labour 2.0 Tory-lite mob because it comes from a dreaded socialist that cares about the NHS. But good on the Scottish natalist MP for showing solidarity and having a soul!
The best day of my life was when I slipped on water; left there by a visiting surgeon, in my ITU where I worked as a nurse and damaged my spine with resultant nerve damage. Decades of poor pay and subsequently working 48-60 hour weeks when Lord Sainsbury took over running the NHS in the late 80’s.
