Docs’ organisation praises Trickett’s EDM on NHS pay – but still only 24 MPs have signed to demand 15% pay rise for NHS

Doctors’ NHS campaign groupEveryDoctorUK and its CEO Dr Julia Patterson have publicly thanked back-bench Labour MP Jon Trickett for his Early Day Motion (EDM) to demand a proper 15% pay increase for NHS staff.

Trickett tabled the EDM last month condemning the Tories’ ‘derisory’ 1% pay offer to NHS workers who have ‘suffered real terms pay cuts of up to 30%’ and continue to suffer further real-terms cuts despite their enormous and selfless sacrifice on the front line of the fight against the Covid pandemic.

EveryDoctorUK published a tweet to thank Trickett for his efforts:

And Julia Patterson also tweeted to thank Trickett and the MPs who have signed the motion:

However, as she noted, only twenty-four MPs have signed Trickett’s motion so far – 23 Labour left-wingers and one SDLP MP, with not a Starmerite in sight. This is simply unacceptable – and readers are encouraged to contact their MP here to ask them to add their support.

  1. Yes, very disappointed with my own MP, whom I have respect for.

She worked with Jeremy Corbyn, and had a hugely valuable, input, into the GE19 Manifesto.

    Dispiriting, to say the least.

    1. It all comes out in the wash George. There are so many so called “Comrades” who are nothing but self and Establishment!
Fascinating thing ALL (well, all that I had the misfortune of looking up) of Thatcher’s Anti-Socialist Neolabour Party MPs have “Left Leaning/Soft-Left/Left Wing” AND “Socialist” on their Wiki Pages!
Those are Blatant Lies when they are ALL Thatcherite Neoliberal Tories! Department ‘of whom’ should be dealing with complaints about such fake claims. Would it be the Toryesque Electorates Commission? That is Misleading the Electorate and NOT TRUE!

  2. Surely nobody is surprised that the bulk of the PLP are useless right wing drones. It would have been starling if any had signed , but not even all those claiming to be on the Left have signed have they.

  3. Well, you’ve all seen what you’re getting from all but 24 MPs.

    Unimpressed? Unhappy?

    Simple solution.

Stop paying your subs and take your vote elsewhere, or rip up your polling card/ ballot paper in front of them and shower them with the pieces like confetti. .

That – Or forever be their doormats.

    Your choice.

    1. NO! Use your Vote Toffee! Vote the Bastards OUT! Any Neolabour Party Tory OUT! ONLY one way to ensure this, vote for their strongest opponent, whoever that is! At this stage in my life Thatcher’s Neoliberal Neolabour Tories are despised by a whole lot more than Thatcher’s Neoliberal Conservative Tories!
Any UK Labour Party MP/Candidate/Exiles vote them IN! We will end up with a small PLP perhaps just 24, but we will once again have the Largest Party Members/CLP/Unions/etc, and candidates for every seat ready for the next GE

  4. They’re only going to enable this anyway: All healthcare ‘reforms’ imposed on us have been modelled on Kaiser healthcare USA. There have been 5 reforms since 1990 and a new one is coming from Johnson. The aim is to ease us into private healthcare. This is the model: Kaiser Permanente is one of the largest nonprofit healthcare plans in the United States, with over 12 million members. It operates 39 hospitals and more than 700 medical offices, with over 300,000 personnel, including more than 80,000 physicians and nurses.

Each Permanente Medical Group operates as a separate for-profit partnership or professional corporation in its individual territory, and while none publicly reports its financial results, each is primarily funded by reimbursements from its respective regional Kaiser Foundation Health Plan entity. KFHP is one of the largest not-for-profit organizations in the United States.

  5. Despite this being a wonderful EDM it will be kryptonite to the cult of the new Labour 2.0 Tory-lite mob because it comes from a dreaded socialist that cares about the NHS. But good on the Scottish natalist MP for showing solidarity and having a soul!

  6. The best day of my life was when I slipped on water; left there by a visiting surgeon, in my ITU where I worked as a nurse and damaged my spine with resultant nerve damage. Decades of poor pay and subsequently working 48-60 hour weeks when Lord Sainsbury took over running the NHS in the late 80’s.
