Hancock: new virus is 70% more transmissible, especially in kids. GOVERNMENT scientist: “We have no evidence for that”

Hancock’s claims busted by government expert during his own press conference

Earlier this week, Matt Hancock claimed that the huge new wave of coronavirus infections was driven by a ‘70%’ higher transmissibility of a ‘new’ ‘mutant strain’ of the virus – telling the BBC’s Andrew Marr that “the new variant is out of control”. The government has put particular emphasis on the supposed greater transmissibility of this variant among children.

But today, during Hancock’s own coronavirus press conference, he made the mistake of referring a question about the infectiousness of the virus among children to a government scientist – who flatly stated that the government has zero evidence for such a claim:

It was the latest in a long line of hideous exposures for Hancock and Johnson, whose mishandling of the crisis has cost tens of thousands of lives – but as ever, one that the so-called ‘mainstream’ media are choosing to under-emphasise, if they even mention it at all.

The ‘new’ ‘mutant strain’ – which has also been present in Italy since around the time it became the Tories’ excuse here, but with Italian case rates falling sharply – looks very much like a Tory exercise in spin and reputation management. Which means Tory tactics haven’t evolved very much at all either.

The scientific consensus is that the current huge numbers of cases, hospitalisations and deaths are attributable primarily to Tory failures – and there is ‘no evidence yet’ for the Tories’ claim otherwise.

  1. I repeat an earlier point. The job of the MSM is to obey those who control them and only release news with with which they agree. If they disagree, news is censored or manipulated. Noam Chomsky said it perfectly.

Israel election: New poll due after unity government crumbles
Israel is to hold its fourth elections in two years after the two main parties in its unity government failed to meet a deadline in a row over state budgets.
Voters will return to the polls in March, just 12 months after the last round.
Two previous elections were inconclusive, resulting in a rare government of national unity.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on trial for alleged corruption, is hoping to return to office for a sixth time.

      1. SteveH, I notice from that link that the BBC are spinning it, what a surprise! No mention of Jews turning against Zionist policies in relation to Palestine. When I first posted I’d not seen it on the main BBC TV news. I saw a piece this morning from Yolande Knell the BBC’s Israel reporter and she didn’t mention it.

How soon will it be before Starmer realises he is on the wrong side of the argument?

      2. SteveH, yes, I’d seen it. The author David Rosenberg is a great Jewish Socialist and therefore anathema to Starmer and Evans.

  2. ………..& the new highly infectious London Covid just jumped on a plane from Italy arriving @ Heathrow some 10 days ago? Great Lockdown…..or maybe something else? Good excuse for Macron to close French border & the planes keep flying. Good job those ‘high value’ Execs don’t have to isolate during the pandemic.
