Corbyn issue is no longer a disciplinary matter, so party switches tactics to ban motions and declares solidarity and political debate racist
The SKWAWKBOX has been contacted by numerous Jewish members of the Labour party outraged over the party’s latest tactic to attack free speech by the movement’s ‘rank and file’.
The party has tried – and often failed – to ban members discussing or voting on motions in support of former leader Jeremy Corbyn or against Keir Starmer’s withdrawal of the Labour whip after Corbyn’s suspension was lifted because a right-dominated panel of NEC members were told there were no valid grounds for it.
The initial tactic, during the suspension, was to claim the issue was not ‘competent’ for discussion by local parties (CLPs) because it was a disciplinary issue – but the lifting of the suspension immediately ended that, as a document from the party’s governance department confirmed:
So now the party’s governance department has issued instructions – from which the screenshot above was taken – to regional offices to ban discussions and votes on the basis that it would prevent a ‘safe space’ for Jewish members:

We are aware that there are a lot of questions incoming around what motions may or may not be in order given developments over recent days. To confirm:
· The Labour Party disciplinary case against the former Leader has now concluded.
· However, it has become clear that motions around this issue (including expressions of solidarity, views around the ongoing process in relation to the Parliamentary whip, and/or the power of the General Secretary or the NEC to issue guidance in relation to discussion of this issue) are providing a flashpoint for the expression of views that undermine the Labour Party’s ability to provide a safe and welcoming space for all members, in particular our Jewish members. Therefore all motions which touch on these issues must be ruled out of order.
We are aware that this ruling will be questioned, so the following explanation of the powers exercised by the General Secretary, as well as the rationale for this decision may be helpful:
· The Labour Party’s Code of Conduct: Antisemitism and other forms of racism states (Appendix 9 in the Rule Book): “The Labour Party will ensure the party is a welcoming home to members of all communities, with no place for any prejudice or discrimination based on race, ethnicity or religion.”
· Chapter 1 VIII.3.A tasks the NEC to “to uphold and enforce the constitution, rules and standing orders of the Party and to take any action it deems necessary for such purpose…”
· Chapter 1 VIII.5 states: “All powers of the NEC may be exercised as the NEC deems appropriate through its elected officers, committees, sub-committees, the General Secretary and other national and regional officials and designated representatives appointed by the NEC or the General Secretary. For the avoidance of doubt, it is hereby declared that the NEC shall have the power to delegate its powers to such officers and committees and subcommittees of the NEC and upon such terms as from time to time it shall see fit. Further, it shall be deemed always to have had such power.”
You may wish to remind members that the Party is committed to the implementation in full of the EHRC report, which includes the recommendations to “Continue to build on its new leadership’s statement regarding its failure to deal with antisemitism, and acknowledge its responsibility for not living up to its commitment to zero tolerance of antisemitism” and “Make sure that it has a system and culture that encourages members to challenge inappropriate behaviour and to report antisemitism complaints”.
Finally, as we have previously advised will not hesitate to take appropriate action – including against individual members – where our rules and guidance are not adhered to, or standards of behaviour fall below that which we expect.
We will be reinforcing this message via an email to CLPs in the next day or two. Obviously if you would like any guidance on individual motions you feel may be border line, please feel free to get in touch.

Labour is officially equating any and all expressions of solidarity with Corbyn or criticism of its political decisions with racism.
This tactic has outraged Jewish members of the party, with one describing it as ‘a heap of ordure’ (sh*t) and others an attack on their free speech. Jewish Voice for Labour, the left-wing Jewish group of Labour members, described it as ‘grossly insulting and inflammatory’ and ‘weaponising’ Jewish concerns for factional purposes:
The latest edict from party HQ, suggesting that Jewish members require a wholesale ban on discussion of anything that touches on the treatment of Jeremy Corbyn in order to feel safe and welcome in the party, is grossly insulting and inflammatory.
Using such a justification to invoke the delegated powers of the General Secretary to act against members who stand up for their right to free expression seems calculated to provoke revolt within the branches and CLPs, once again weaponising the fears and concerns of Jewish people to further Keir Starmer’s campaign against supporters of his predecessor as leader.
But the tactic is already being used to prevent free speech. North-west regional director Andy Smith has written to members of West Derby CLP in Liverpool to block their planned motions:

It has been brought to my attention that a motion has been put forward to West Derby CLP that contradict Labour’s current advice, and rules. Accordingly, I have ruled the motion out of order.
I have taken this decision, under the delegated powers authorised by the NEC as per the rulebook.
This advice supersedes any previous advice which may have been issued in regard to constituency motions.

The Rule Book is also clear that such powers can be delegated to, amongst others, the General Secretary.
The Labour Party’ will not hesitate to take appropriate action – including against individual members – where our rules and guidance are not adhered to, or standards of behaviour fall below that which we expect.

SteveH I’ve just read the piece in question and wonder how on earth a party that holds confidential data such as names, addresses, financial records and data that defines one’s personal characteristics is not covered under GDPR? I used to work for a charity and we took such information very seriously, we had levels of authority that meant you could only view certain data and only see other data on a case by case basis.
I still believe that the party is in grave danger if it thinks this judgement gives them a get out clause, but we’ll only know if that’s the case by the party being taken to court?

I just did a search re ‘labour party suspends members for passing motion’, and there were just TWO related articles in the MSM, both of them in The Independent (and I scrolled through about fifty or sixty of the results that came up). Needless to say, the WHOLE of the MSM are aware that it’s going on, but they are of course witholding the fact from their readers and viewers and listeners, and if we didn’t know it already – which surely everybody who follows skwawkbox DOES after the past five years – we are living in an elective dictatorship, a Psychopathocracy in actual fact.

It was no rant Richard, and talking of bullies, as you were, yet again we come back to psychopaths. Psychopaths are inherently sadistic and, as such, they get high on bullying people. It may not have been physical bullying – although he was targeted by someone in a mosque in March of last year (which the MSM played down and described as the ‘egg attack’) – but Jeremy Corbyn has been bullied and hounded by the MSM and the Jewish newspapers and the BoD and JLM and CAA et al relentlessly for most of the past five years, because THAT is what it was. Vilifying and demonising and smearing him ceaselessly, and there was nothing whatsoever he could do about it, and the ‘bullies; knew it, and they enjoyed every single moment of it.
They beat him to a pulp, and STILL haven’t finished with him, and just keep kicking and kicking him despite the fact that – metaphorically speaking – he is down on the ground. I had an experience with a psychopathic bully many years ago….. went for a pee in a pub and there was this guy (in his late twenties) standing over an elderly guy who he had obviously just knocked to the ground and had a bleeding lip, and he was threatening him with more violence, but doing it very coolly, whilst his sidekick looked on. So I kinda took my time in case he started laying into him again, but the psychopath guy obviously picked up on the fact, and I can’t remember exactly what he said, but whilst I was drying my hands he said something to me, and I said something along the lines of how the guy on the floor was elderly, and the next thing he grabbed me by the collar so to speak and put his face right up close to mine, and said something like ‘Do you fancy your chances then’. I didn’t, and he just emanated violence (and his sidekick standing several yards behind him sort of stood there shaking his head from side to side at me, as if to say ‘he’ll beat you to a pulp’).
He eventually let go of me, and he and his sidekick followed me out the door, and as we walked along the hallway that led back into the pub, suddenly he’s all friendly and asking me where I’m from, and then just as we were about to go through the door back into the lounge, he said ‘fuck off’ very nonchalently, and I went back to my table and finished my drink a lot quicker than I otherwise would have done, and my friend – who I of course related what just happened to – and I got out of there, We were away travelling around for a week (in my friends car), and we both realised that this guy was the local hardnut who ‘ruled’ his domain by violence, AND the threat of violence, and that he was psychopathic to the core, and totally evil as such.

Tell me if I am wrong: I have so far lived in the belief that it is conference that votes on policies and rules, also that appointments like GS get ratified at conference.
What is happening at present in the Labour Party is so wrong – it is 1984 reinacted if not pure dictatorship, totalitarian and chicanery.
In addition I received email today “inviting” me to join the local CLP what’s app group.
Participation dependent on a set of rules, amongst them one that demands that
“All messages must relate to the group’s core purpose, “to hold the local Tories to account and further our campaign locally – internal Labour Party issues are not relevant.”
This is reflective of what is in article above and, to me, not acceptable. In my view this rule is quite poignant as it demands we stick head in sand and ignore what is going on around us. But more importantly so-called internal issues that are in the public domain cannot be discussed.
Given what’s gone before It’s little surprise to learn of national business being ruled out of order and CLP discussions being restricted to local issues.

Corbyn supporters need not worry, he has the backing of John ‘flip flop’ McDonnell who encapsulates for me the pathetic spinelessness of the Labour Party, in a long interview with the Jewish news the interviewer asked him why Corbyn shared platforms with Anti-Semites “So when we’re talking about sharing a platform with anti-Semites, we’re not talking about people who are just supportive of the Palestinian cause, do you think it might be time for an apology”?
JmD: “You have to look at why he was sharing platforms, it was not to endorse them, it was to try and engage with them”.
There you have it, his friend Corbyn spent the past 30 years of his life traversing the country addressing Palestinian and anti war groups and offering them his support, then in one sentence McDonnell throws his friend under the bus “it was not to endorse them”. With a friend like McDonnell who needs enemies.
My advice to McDonnell is get on your belly and crawl and then ask for forgiveness from the Board of Deputies, it still will not be enough. They will only be happy when Corbyn is destroyed.

I’m still convinced that for all of those people trying to stir up trouble and defend the indefensible, that they will come to realise, they’re the ones that have enabled austerity and are also responsible for this COVID disaster. What really worries me, is that in 20, 50, 100 years from now, this sordid episode will be use by the antisemites to fuel hatred towards Jews.
History will focus on the role of the BoD, Margaret Hodge, Luciana Berger et all and conclude that it was the “Jews” who demonised a decent man and prevented him for getting into N10.
I will argue that the General Secretary and Keir Starmer too, are engaging in antisemitism. They pretend to be friends of the Jews when in fact they aren’t, they are trying to save their political careers by stating that their censorship is in order to protect Jews. When in fact it could be argue that their manipulation of the truth could actually be planting the seeds that would see an increase in the hatred of Jews in the future.

Starmer is in breach of one of the examples listed in the IHRA namely “Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel” i.e. actions taken by the state of Israel being conflated with ‘Jews’ wherever they live or think, a conflation condemned by the IHRA as anti-Semitic since Jews wherever they live in the world are not responsible for actions of the Israeli state. Starmer is an anti-Semite. I know the host of this blog has put in a complaint on this very subject to Labour HQ, he may have to wait a long time for a reply, if ever.
Harry – As I understand it they are postponing dealing with any more cases until the new process is in place. As the existing system that was put in place by the previous administration has been discredited by the EHRC it would seem to be logical and fairer to wait for the new system to be set up first.
Had Corbyn’s office given as its reason for delayed resolution of complaints that they were “waiting for the new system to be set up first” they’d have been excoriated for it.

Well yes. It may have escaped your notice but the EHRC has served the Labour Party with an enforcement notice compelling the party to set up a new independent disciplinary system.
So yes the rules have changed because the EHRC have demanded that they must change. You really should try and keep up with current affairs.

David – Like it or not the EHRC is a statutory body that was set up by an act of parliament that granted it investigatory and enforcement powers. The only ones who appear to be running to the lawyers are Corbyn supporters like yourself.
