Last night the SKWAWKBOX interviewed working-class Labour MP and former party chair Ian Lavery in its first weekly news and current affairs programme on Socialist Telly. The interview ranged over the difficulties between the party and working-class communities, the contempt among many so-called centrists for working-class people – and the new No Holding Back podcast Lavery has started with fellow MP Jon Trickett and the excellent Laura Smith.
Union activist and 17-year teacher Brent Poland also spoke powerfully on the Tories’ treatment of teachers and children – and on whether there is such a thing as a ‘COVID-secure’ classroom.
